How is inMusic funded? Where are they coming up with all this free cash for acquisitions?

The tech from BFD - the drum part was integrated into MPC software and hardware.

Free cash, that’s modern day economics, it’s nearly all IOU’s - that’s how the global economy works, well until….

  • all of the glitchmachines plugins are insanely good. They take some getting used to as they are very unconventional, but they sound incredible and are capable of a wide range of sound

That almost sounds too good to be true, but I’ll check this out later.

Anyone know if there’s a catch to this or is it truly free with no strings?

BFD is owned by inMusic. They’re obviously giving the player away to facilitate the sale of sound packs which only work with their software. Same strategy Gospel Musicians has successfully used with their synth.

Thanks. Not sure I care about that too much if I get 5GB of samples off the bat. If the samples aren’t good I’ll just uninstall it.

Good samples they are, but in a proprietary format, and the 5GB is just a small set in comparison to just the full install, not including expansion sets. But that’s why they are named BigF&#@#£&;Drums.

All I really care about is if I can trigger them with MIDI so I can play them live on a kit, so it’s not a big deal if I can’t get at the individual samples. Just wasn’t sure if I would install and find some dealbreaker limitation.

Don’t know about limitations, just know the size on my SSD over 100GB if you are on MacOS last time I checked they only ran under Rosetta. Hopefully that’s changed now.

What is over 100GB? Is that with extra purchased packs?

Holy cow. Just got one of my missing Cherry Audio synths (Polymode) for $1.00... that is normally a $29 synth. Fantastic.

  • I bought the bundle for the Cherry Synths. Came here to post about it but see it's already news :-)

Does anybody want my code for Mixcraft 9?

Same goes for $25 voucher for Soundtrack Loops.

Let me know which one you want and I'll PM you the code.

I didn't care about any of those extras either. For a dollar, I mean, come on... Fantastic deal. And I'm already using Polymode.

UAD is giving away a free version of the LA-2A comp which seems to be lightly stripped compared to those in the bundled versions

(doesn't show up in my iLok cloud for some reason)

  • edited October 2023

Hell yeah, UAD is doing a really good job at getting me hooked since they went native.

    Also nice idea, @klownshed.

I have an extra key for CA2600 and Voltage Modular Ignite from Cherry Audio that expire at the end of the month if anyone wants them

  • edited October 2023

Also up for grabs for free:

    Cherry Audio Polymode
    Pianissimo VST (Windows only)

You're very welcome. Hope you enjoy it.

You definitely already know this, but for instant Gary Numan load up the Vox Humana Preset and stuff on a phaser and spend the rest of the day having electric friends :-)

  • UAD is continuing their “Let’s ravage Eddie’s wallet” campaign with 10 plug-ins for $50 on plugin boutique. Lots of good ones https://www.pluginboutique.com/product/2-Effects/39-FX-Bundle/11416-UAD-Essentials-Edition-LTD-TIME-OFFER-

  • Haha yeah. I was almost tempted to get into the gateway drug of UAD but my god I hate ilok — I got UAD polymax free recently and actually decided to get over my ilok fear and installed it.

I have a computer at my office and a MacBook at home. For various reasons I will never use a dongle (I guarantee when I need it most it will be in the other location) and hate anything sticking out the side of my laptop. So actually having to pay for something I don’t want that only exists to let me use something I’ve already paid for is out of the question!

An apart from the frankly unpleasant experience of installing everything as soon as I tried polymax on one computer ilok signed me out of ilok cloud on the other one. Well ilok can just eff off.

Anyway. My hatred of ilok has completely degassed me when it comes to UAD. I’m out.

Just in time for Musio to release a new pricing scheme where you can get everything they’ve released so far with a perpetual license for $299. Less than the cost of some individual cinesample libraries that are included with Musio.

$299 is a lot of money. But it’s also a complete bargain! And no ilok.

I’m trying it out with their 30 day free trial and it’s pretty impressive.

And I’m going to so much more mileage out of orchestral libraries than I ever will with yet another bloody compressor or EQ!

It’s interesting to see UAD join the race to the bottom though. There’s no way back once you’ve started selling plugins for £5 each. No going back to £150+ a pop that’s for sure.

Also I read somewhere that one of the lead UAD bods has joined apple. I’m intrigued to see what comes from that too…

    Anyway. Musio. Wow.

does UAD do loyalty pricing like that??

Depends what you mean by more, but technically speaking definitely, but to emulate the PPG Wave, it would require perhaps more work than just using this very close emulation of the hardware.

  • I read that The Fixx used a PPG synth for the bass in Deeper and Deeper
