I mean though, this thread has been hilarious. Bit harsh on Ali - it's hardly that big a crime to say something new and exciting is coming - but I guess it's also useful to see the community's opinion on this. That said, given the number of views some of my glitched out teaser videos, which hide the app but let you hear it, have had, it's clear many people like those (though there are probably some that don't). I guess those kind of videos are at least giving away some clues, potentially. And at the very least there's some - hopefully - interesting music to listen to, which may explain the different responses.

I think you’re right about the teaser videos. Put up something that sounds interesting/wonderful, and I can get interested. Often, very interested!

Big names in desktop plugins? Way too vague: (I’ve) probably never heard of them, and we have so many wonderful apps already, they’d better be bringing more to the table(t) than just a brand name.

  • for those of us who celebrated Christmas as kids (or any holiday where presents were involved) the excitement of the unknown was a thing. Some of us even searched high and low to get a sneak peek before the embargo day release. Not sure what happened on the way to adult hood. My theory is the "leakers" had a bad experience during the holidays as a kid and vowed to make sure as an adult, they would do something. Forcing those who still enjoy the unknown to eventually ignore them.

  • N.I. No Idea.

  • As the mystery company finally been announced?

  • Only 14 more pages to go.

    🤣🤣🤣

You guys can pull that off In a couple days

  • Based on the info I just got..it has to be Pianoteq!! It lines up with the ‘snippets’ part. Yeah, definitely Pianoteq

    Ohhh man.

  • Yeah it’s Pianoteq but you guys already knew that.

  • Major music publications will receive a Pre Release version of Pianoteq this week. Ali having ‘The Beat Community” website counts a MAJOR and thus he’ll have it early. He just said something WAY too soon.

  • Could have told you that - as an educated guess - on page 1 but didn't want to spoil the party 🎉 😁

It is quite a big deal though, no? Will be interesting to finally get to see how this compares to the recent JAX offerings, Pure Piano, Module pianos, Ranvenscroft etc!

Don’t have info on pricing or if it’s free for desktop owners of Pianoteq

I'm old enough to know that it is almost impossible that it will be free for desktop owners. You can quote me on that one. :)

  • So, it turns out Pianotech is not the high-end brand that will be making an entrance to the iOS arena shortly. I know for a fact who it is but I’m not allowed to say under strict non-disclosure.

    But it rhymes with Cat-ivarius.

  • We’ve known about pianoteq for ages 🤷‍♂️

  • McIntosh

  • Ok.. so how much will this (possibly PianoTeq) cost?

    Exactly 😂

Unknown. But I'm sure the good members of the AB Forum can easily squeeze a few more pages out of this thread hazarding guesses on that 😂 👍

I'll start - 50 bucks intro price, 80 regular (for the Pro version - assuming they're even offering that, who knows)

  • Depending on what 'category' of apps we're talking about I'd say there needs to be at least one music app that breaks the 'magic' $100 barrier so what ever it is $99 intro price and >$149 regular price...

Sure nobody will by it so at that price they will leave the iOS market soon after they enter it , selling no more than 10 units lol

And again the few buyers will not have follow up or upgrades from them. I prefer high end brand to stay in the desktop market that to abandon quickly the iOS with abandon software as we saw in the past.

There are exceptions of course like Fabfilter , Steinberg ….

Some people is not enough, in this forum how many will pay 100 usd for an iOS app ?
