  • Man, you’re going to be disappointed...
It still going to be a very capable app - maybe even the most capable -, but you don’t want 1:1 feature parity.

I can't believe how much people are trying to predict what this is or isn't based off a few screenshots. 😂 It's pretty ridiculous. I personally would love a moratorium on all logic threads til the app comes out. Would anyone here think it remotely rational to judge the capabilities of AUM, for example, based on a couple of screenshots?

Come on people, we've got to be better.

This is not a jab at you Tahiche, in particular, by the way! You're a great forum member, and in your last post you point out that the screenshots don't reflect your idea of what the app could contain.

And we're all excited about this sudden news.

But this idea that we can judge what's coming based on a few screenshots or vids is pure madness. And I'm seeing this all over the forum.

People focusing on a few pics or screenshots and making their mind up about what's coming based on those. Sheer madness. A deep app like this will have many windows. No one or two pics is going to ensapsulate what it can do.

Yeah...This news has definitely whipped up a whole lot of energy. It's hard to stay away from it. I actually thought it was getting to be too much, but reading Doug's post made me giggle and just accept it for what it is. I'm actually really excited about it, which doesn't happen often.

But I can't spend the next weeks paying the same level of attention to it. But I'm genuinely interested to see just how many "You'll get your subscription money from my cold, dead hands" folk this release will 'break'...so will be back for that ;)

Until then, I'll just leave y'all with this

That’s true. Honestly, I’m definitely excited about the app, but at the same time I’m putting out my caution signs so I don’t get distracted by the hype when it’s released.

And if it surpasses it, well then, maybe it can be the game changier. Or a really great app.

Either way, 11 days to go.

Even though I find the frenzy laughable, the one thing that's less attractive than baseless but confident predictions is the sheer number of comments calling for threads to be moved/deleted, or calling for people to not comment or leave, even though noone is breaking the rules. Some of the suspects are the usual ones but I didn't expect to find you in that group with your moratorium idea, Gav.

Yeah, moratorium was a bit hyperbolic I'll agree. Still - despite myself - lapping up these Logic Pro threads. Shame on me!

Are you kidding? This and FCP are the biggest apps Apple have released for iOS to date. It’s exciting!

    Just setup another ipad 9.

Should have maybe returned for an air 5. Just didnt like usbc or the flimsy design.

Hope Logic can be resourse optimsed. When just used as a hub and hosting synths.

Probably not optimised like Drambo or Aum though.

    Shame for me and apple.

Could have had a better hub ipad but ipad designs have a bad rep ( for me )

    Probably not the case though.

Still got 3 Drambo hosts though for now.

    4. Apple still needs to sell desktop Macs. It makes no sense to cannibalize their sale of that.

Well, I’ve just worked out that a similarly specced iPad, cost more than my 1/512 Mini + monitor last year - so they’d actually be making more profit from taking desktop sales.

The iPads that can pull enough weight to accommodate iOS Logic ain’t gonna be cheap.

I just bought 11” pro 3rd gen for £399 and sold my old 11” pro 2nd gen for £375. £24 + eBay fees upgrade.

    Good deal!

Seems like a good deal, though he doesn’t mention the storage capacity on either the one he sold, or the one he bought.

I just want to say that I am following all of the LP threads with great interest, all of them are generating loads of very interesting discussion.
I definitely won’t be deleting any threads or posts here, wether or not they are LP threads or not, unless people start ripping chunks out of each other it’s all cool beans😎

Something this big coming to iOS is bound to create huge interest and debate, especially given the pricing model, so it’s good to debate it.

I suspect over the coming weeks and probably months there will be many many more threads related to LP.

Please, just keep in mind the new rules, be respectful of other people’s opinions👍😊

Well said sir. As a genuine pioneer of iPad music making you will know the potential this move has to shine some industry light on this method of creating. It will undoubtedly attract some new people to understand the power there lies in prodding that large looking phone. Introduced by Steve Jobs in 2010 as the best browsing, Mail, photos, calendar, music movie and podcast tool! Now we make albums movies and YouTube content on that ‘thin’ tablet. Damn we live in amazing times. Bring it on.

I still don't get it. It's like saying as a Cubase user, when they released Cubasis I had to buy auv3 alternatives. If you are a Logic user no one has to start using it on an iPad at all.

Sooo... if I've already been able to enjoy the full version of Logic on the desktop for years... AND use a touch interface with it via Logic Remote... why would I be chomping at the bit to be able to also use Logic on my iPad?

I'll try it out for sure, but I doubt I'll be paying a subscription for it.

I think along the same lines as the honourable members above. I have LPX on the desktop, and I use it in a very different way compared to how I use music software in the iPad. Different workflow, different plugins, different everything. And I like both ways, I'm not looking to unify them at all. But sure, a free trial never hurts.

All of this makes the most sense to me. Anyone who is productive on a desktop will continue to do so, people who use an iPad maybe will like Logic on the iPad, or maybe they will continue to use GarageBand, or maybe AUM, or maybe Cubasis, or any other of the apps out there. We’re not exactly starved for choice.

I think there’s a massive line of FOMO (or FOFOMO?) running through all these threads. If you try it and you like it, cool. If you try it and you don’t like it, cool. If you don’t try it, cool. 🤷‍♂️

Lol In many cases AudioBus forum does appear have an anti-apple bias —,perhaps because the original protocol got sherlocked by IAA and then AUv3…resentment still fills the air.

GarageBand is used by far, I mean far more people than what appears to be represented here. Likely the same will happen for Logic on iPad…used by 100’s of thousands out there…but maybe 2 or 3 on ABF 🫠

Curious about where the main forum for Logic for iPad users will end up…possibly KvR

  • I'm just happy for the Audiobus forum to be the place for people who don't use Audiobus (except that one guy).
AUM, LoopyPro, Garageband, Cubasis, that one that begins with 'D', Beathawk, NS2, AudioEvolution Pro, etc... There are so many choices and creative possibilities.

When I occasionally ponder what it would be like to run Logic Pro on my iPad, I think of those Garageband projects I did when starting out and how difficult it is to do anything with them in iOS.
Exporting MIDI is time consuming in GB, and so is exporting individual audio tracks.

I think Logic Pro's utility really will be as Garageband Pro and I'd like to spend more time with Apple's nice Alchemy presets than I have before. Beyond that, the attraction will be if it consolidates things I can do elsewhere in a variety of apps into one place.

I don't think a massive number of the chronically self doubting "I've done 4 bars what do you think?" crowd of Garageband initiates will go for Logic Pro on iPad given the subscription model, so perhaps it will just be another tool with its pros and cons just like all the others we have on iPad OS.

I found it difficult to follow the logic here in general. I mean, if you "know" you don't want it, you're supposed to have an idea as to why you don't want it - that's how "knowing" works. If you need a trial "to figure out why you don't want it" (instead of figuring out whether you want it or not) then you clearly don't know yet. 🤷
