I really do wish they’d also give us the option to just buy it outright instead of renting it. I’d gladly pay the desktop Logic price for this because of course it’s going to be great. But I hate that all we do is rent now. (“Subscription” is such a nice term for renting.) All the subscription services, streaming services, etc. that we all have today - we don’t actually •own• much of anything anymore.

I don’t have a car, I don’t want to watch TV , I was among the latest to have an iPad, I rent my own , I don’t have many things and I am happy. I don’t want Nexlix, Spotify, Apple TV , Apple Music but it is not because it sub just because I am not interested. I pay a sub for iCloud only , I will pay for iOS Logic if I need it. I prefer to pay by month.

No doubt you’re right, because they can make so much more money this way.

Probably we can expect in a few years that they’ll switch the desktop version of Logic to a subscription model for new customers too. Yay.

We will certainly have subscription on Logic Pro & Final Cut Pro before that, perhaps already in a week…

My DAW of choice on iOS is Cubasis 3 for many reasons. 1 of them is that it work on iPhone. If I understand correctly, LP will not works on iPhone.

For people who makes propjets on iPad AND iPhone, it will be something to think about.

Garageband works on iPad and iPhone. :) You can create the basis for a new idea in Garageband between both devices (GB syncs to iCloud, not local storage). Then open in Logic Pro and finish there. :)

I love Troublemaker! That and now Hilda as a bass synth (thanks to @dendy showing us how it's done 😉, proving Hilda is more than a mindblowing drone synth).

Not just bass.. it's literally full blown synth capable of anything from FX and weird sounds, through pads, leads, arpeggios, basses or even drums - kick, hihas, snares, percussions, anything !

😱 Yeah, I gotta dig into Hilda synth even further so I can create more Ritchie Hawtin-inspired pieces. Return to Minimal Techno.

Yikes. Should I like take my MacBook offline so apple doesn’t like “block” Logic ? Like they could send an auto update that says “you must now subscribe” or something right? Unless you log out or turn off internet ?
I am not sure how this works with “behind the scenes” updates

If Apple was planning to do that quickly it will state it before as it involve the professional market including big famous label and producers that are quite big clients for Apple.

You don’t deal such a way in the professional segment as big monney is involved and you must to plan everything.

I am pretty sure about 2 facts : GarageBand iOS will stay for the moment as it part of the workflow with Logic and that Logic Pro Destop will not be a sub software in a weeks or even many months or even never and that any updates will change that without prior notice , the same for FCP.

Apple segment pro and consumer market and is very careful about pro business (big professional use very powerful Mac Destktop and incredible storage capacity to run LP and FCP in high standards pro level. Some media company have millions of $ of Apple equipments.

Have a look to the Apple pro products : https://apple.com/mac-pro/

Don’t be afraid nothing will change yet for Destop users so run it as usual.

You don’t know anything about Apple and the software harware industry to tell such statements, I spent over 25 years in it so lease be careful when you state that without any proof or Apple statement to back up.

They can't make you subscribe to something you already have bought.

If they bring out an update, do not update until you are sure it is 'safe'.

Totally agree it is a basic to never update too quickly OS or software, personally I wait up to one months sometimes more to evaluate if I update it. I decided not to update yet to Ventura and to stay with Monterey so it is safer.

Alchemy for sure, then AUv3 fx automation... if it exists, then midi and audio routing in general. Then likely be disappointed and just play with the fx / beat mangler stuff and decide, yah I can export some neat stems to desktop every now and then. Then wonder if the sub is worth it for a month. Or be completely wrong.

The GarageBand Guide’ confirmed that automation is on the same level as it is on desktop Logic.

I have not used Logic on desktop but the real test for me will be if I make a new ProQ3 node, can I automate it or does it only automate parameters that are initially exposed when loading the plugin? Also, can I automate AUv3 UI knobs and x/y pads etc or is it some clunky drop down listing parameters... will see...

+1. Curious if MIDI learn is more like dRambo than it is Cubasis , hopefully

yah bummer, looks like AUv3 fx automation is limited to just the first three params that Logic enables and you can't do it via the UI of the AUv3. If there is a way, someone please explain it to me.

    That’s huge
If someone wants to reconfirm you can control live pads in Hilda by asssigning them to parameters on MIDI learn or map or however to your MIDI controller would be great

    Thanks

Have you tried Turnado or Blackhole?

How about Synthmaster2 or Egoist? I am not getting any automation there from the GUI

  • So with Hilda the live pads can be auv3 parameters or MIDI Fx as well? Are the live pads selectable in a menu like BM3 Or is the MIDI learn like in dRambo?
    (
I asked before but conflicted posts unless I wasn’t clear or misread )

    Gamechanger.

  • meh-ricle - but it mostly depends on your picadillos and workflow. The underlying functionality is all there - production ready

  • Is it a game changer, yes definitely.

Is it a great powerful and deep daw in iOS : YES the most complete and powerful Daw in iOS

Is it for all iOS musicians, no , depend really of your workflow and if you want to use it and learn deep.
