Oh, I doubt that. This is huge for iPad and audio production.

In the long term, if it pans out, I would agree it can be good for the platform. Ipad music is definitely still a bubble though (and I find still quite maligned). I brought Logic for iPad up a few times over the past week in music circles and nobody knew about it. A lot of people quickly dipped their toe and left iOS having run into a basic gotcha like Files. I hope Logic delivers and helps elevate the platform more but I think a lot of us cried wolf to them over the years heh.

On Apple Logic Pro desktop forum everybody care and that many and in audio gear forums it is also a big subject, so it is a lot of people some are very big producers and they want at least to know more but no new trusted information at all

@Samu : They will charge separate for both versions or else they would have announced otherwise .

At $100/year that would be crazy especially if you purchased the $200 software!

so I hope $50/year would entitle desktop owners to updating for cross compatibility

We’ll find out the most important feature (pricing haha) tomorrow morning yeah?

Yeah, that’d be a pretty hefty price increase for existing users, and cause a serious backlash.

I could see them offering a package deal, say £75 for both, but still not enough discount to tempt me to go for a desktop subscription as well.

Might be tough for people not earning money as a musician or sound engineer to scrape up the money, but have you seen how much it costs to rent Adobe’s software these days?

Your right. Relatively speaking it’s not bad compared to other pro suites

Haha same here. My music friends never seemed to care too much about iPad. Hopefully that changes now. So I can share that hobby with more people and hopefully more apps and plugs will come.

So I manage a restaurant here in Florida. One of our cooks (in his 30’s) is a guy that’s always playing music in the kitchen, says he plays guitar, so I figure he’s got to know a little something…. Nope! Doesn’t know what Logic is. Didn’t even know what a DAW was. I’m like “come on man, you know, like Pro Tools? The software musicians use in a studio to record albums??”

Nope! Doesn’t know anything about any of that stuff.

Yeah, I’m very alone at work. 😢 I’m surrounded by about 20 to 30 people every day that have no clue.

Let’s be honest people. It’s gonna take about 12 hours on the 23rd for y’all to turn these Logic Pro threads from “OMG OMG OMG!” To “jfc jfc jfc….”

    Nay, foul heathen!

Verily I say unto you, before 12 hours hath passed after the Blessed Launch, behold the Rapture shall come and those who have believed shall be caught up into heaven where for eternity they shall enjoy their blessed headphone jacks. There will be no more tears, neither subscriptions, and battery death shall be no more.

Only they who have not believed will remain. These must endure the great tribulation without the Anointed App. So great shall be their torment that they will cry out for death. But they shall find it not.

    Amen.

Problem is hobbyists will also have to factor in more storage, newer compatible processor, and decent screen size as well if their devices don’t have them already. I’m on the fence whether I actually want to lose the apps I’ll have to ditch to make space on my already-full Air 4. As for an additional subscription for desktop - forget it.

Yep, which is why I switched to non-sub Affinity versions when they came out.

  • So is it like 23d morning, or 23:23 ? 😂

  • It must be tomorrow somewhere.

    “Nothing?”
“I’m afraid you don’t meet the criteria for this restaurant.” 🤓

Luckily I work in a University Museum doing design and video so I let them know I will be spending the day familiarizing myself with new software for the job - on the clock. Win-win.

Somewhere, somehow, I zigged when I should have zagged, took a right turn where I should’ve taken a left, and missed my calling. At 53, I feel like I should definitely be doing something else.

No, just a simple plumber that love music & sounds…

I don’t sub to Adobes products - running Affinity Suite (Photo/Designer/Publisher) on both my iPad and my Mac - one time payment…

  • Don’t know for you guys, but first thing I’m going to test will be full functionality of Alchemy and muti-output implementation. Can ‘Multiband’ and ‘FAC Medusa’ work as intended. Then rest of the every single freaking option one by one… 😎

Alchemy for sure, then AUv3 fx automation... if it exists, then midi and audio routing in general. Then likely be disappointed and just play with the fx / beat mangler stuff and decide, yah I can export some neat stems to desktop every now and then. Then wonder if the sub is worth it for a month. Or be completely wrong.
