so curious. can i write music to picture like you can on the desktop version? to me that is the only thing that is holding g me back from doing 100% of my music on ipad
Word!
Thank you, @DanSebPage. And here's the PDF: https://help.apple.com/pdf/logicproipad/en_US/logic-pro-ipad-user-guide.pdf.
Nearly 1000 pages... Oops!
Yeah...this isn't Garage Band Pro...the app is deep.
A very quick glance through the manual suggests that the app is indeed deep. But from initial glances, they seem to have removed last vestiges of any at-a-glance recognition for the majority of the plugins (They even seem to have lost their on-GUI titles). More than that, they have seemingly removed all metering, so that using the Multipressor (as an example) is going to be such a buzz-kill. If Apple were trying to compel us toward 3rd-party alternatives, they've done a very good job
@Eclipxe Sorry...Me, again How's window-management for plugins. i can't see any way to link them, as with desktop. Am I missing it, or is this going to be a case of a lot of screen-dragging?
It’s absolutely fun. This might change the game for my music making. I tried to use my Launchpad X as a control surface for Live Loops and it didn’t work. The Launchpad appears as a Midi device but seems be be not initialized as a pad controller. I also couldn’t find anything in the manual about pad controllers in the Live Loops section. It‘s probably blasphemy, but I want to use a controller although I have a touch screen…
Logic Pro for MacOS will be updated soon (today?) to version 10.7.8. One of the features is 'Roundtrip compatibility' with Logic Pro for IOS.
Here still on 10.7.7, did you already receive the 10.7.8 update @Samu ?
Do a hard restart of your iPad and see if that helps.
10.7.8 has appeared in the US App Store for me.
Good to hear, thanks!
A document that big would have been better served by an epub imo…
Did you restart your IPad , it crashed for me within the first few minutes , but I restarted my IPad and it’s been rock solid, no crashes at all.
Thanks I’ll give it a go. All but one of the crashes were related to loading an auv3 instrument
Plethora of crashes, even if just stock plugins used.. got even few crashes when i was just resizing windows in project with one track playing ES1 !... automation is weird - again and again after i record some automation i then can't find it it - it's not visible as track automation and it's not visible as clip atomation .. but it plays .. the it suddently appears .. loaded Butter Synth but after recorded some automation i am getting sound stutter ..
Don't like UI .. it's same issue like with Cubasis or Drambo - all the time resizing windows, and windows on top of other windows, up&down, left to right .. also use of screen is very ineffective in plugins view, knobs are too big and too far away from each other on "large" and "medium" mode (wasting of space), on other side everything too small on "small" mode.. Whole UI feels like first sketch not just as something finished mentioned to be released...
Dissapointed, expected better UI from apple.
At current stage VERY unreliable. No chance i use this for making music, will explore it during free trial just to get overview but .. 👎
Easy.
Just use some online services that convert this PDF to Epub…
Zero crashes for me, and I use "Manzana" project to test it.
Have you performed a hard restart? Several people have done that and it solved their problems. It's also possible an incompatible plugin is causing your crashes.
Even if you use LP desktop it is not easy to find it’s way first. Navigate is not so easy , like everything first time.
yes i restarted and as i said it crashes even with just one track where is loaded stock ES1 synth .. got two crashes in 5 minutes just during resizing windows
Haven't had any of the issues you've said. Make sure you know where the automation toggle view is on the top. The UI is amazingly to resize and work with - I've tried on both iPad Mini and 12.9 Pro. It works great.
Yah I had some weird automation results with proQ3 where it started hacking up my clip into overlapping pieces. The navigation is also very clunky. NS2 may be limited in design but at least it is consistent and flows like a dream for me.
problem solved with invisible automation, it redorded multiple takes and automation was in other one
I don't know... if it persists, try uninstalling and reinstall again. Perhaps there was some data corruption if you downloaded during the initial heavy wave of downloads?
Dendy, why so upset?
You have declared 100x that you never will go subscription, so, why struggle with Logic Pro for iPad, an DAW you never ever will be using on iPad?
Go back to Nanostudio 2 and enjoy..
I think you just need to get used to the interface Dendy, it's fucking brilliant and cannot be compared to Cubase where you have to close and open a new window whatnot. Here almost all windows can be opened and closed directly and if you have a lot going on, just double click the main bottom bar and all goes away 🤪 I have 7 plugins connected to my guitar and I switch between them instantly, even faster than in AUM. I don't like e.g that you can't reorder plugins (I hope you can but I don't know how). I was overwhelmed at first but that simple tutorial was very helpful to get going and find what's what.
Are we going to start doing the thing where we’re not allowed to criticise an app?
lol no this is not how it works :-)) you can’t get app crashes on normal UI related operations like
resizing windows because of some corrupted nor properly dowloaded data .. app is downloaded from appstore as single file and before it is even installed crc checksum is verified … it either downloads and run or it doesn’t download/doesn’t run at all …
looks like it settled down, same project, after initial crashes galore now stable …
NS2 vibes but with people changed places and with a real DAW now and not a toy.
yes, it reminds me Synthmater 2 .. it looks like designer just threw UI elements randomly over whole screen and then coders just made it react on touch eventsand work somehow .. feels very inconsistent as whole, which is a pity cause it’s really feature rich ..
