Anybody tried use logic in PORTRAIT mode ?? Usually i have locked iPad screen rotation and most Logic videos are in landscaoe so had no clue it can work also in portrait mode.

I must admit - BIG difference. Like REALLY big. UI starts to be MUCH better that way ! It’s almost like they designed it primary for portrait mode instead of landscape …

Yep. I was quite surprised. Somethings definitely scale better with that aspect ratio.

    Isn’t that interesting… 🤓

This has probably already been spotted, but I found a little snafu in the official manual.

“Install the correct driver on your iPad”? Really, Apple?

I wonder how many new users will be sent running in circles over this…

  • i still did not even download it (to avoid distraction, i‘m preparing my first hardware live set in 14 years) but had a quick look in the manual for one of my most important features of the desktop version: the ability to shift the outgoing midi clock(s). It‘s not there?Really?? That‘s a huge letdown and not very“pro“ in my opinion 😡

Might be foreshadowing a future iPhone Pro version

On page 341 on the official manual there’s a MIDI Clock thing in settings - read that…

Both you and I are happy that Apple gave us MIDI Clock!

Now, hope they add MIDI export and full Alchemy Synth in next update…

I had no doubt that midi clock is included, it was just the ability to shift the clocks as well. Every single bit of midi equipment i know has a tiny bit of different latency. Not a big deal if you just send notes from the DAW…but a big deal if you work with a lot of synths/drummachines with internal sequencer (like me). And a very big deal if you connect them parallel to your DAW. I‘m looking forward to try logic when i find the time for it 👍

  • @giku_beepstreet - Your terrific AUv3 Radio Unit app, this doesn’t work in Logic Pro for iPad, sad…

Any clue if it’s wrong in Logic, or, something in your code that not match?

Really love Radio Unit (and Drambo, of course)!

Ok - it hits me that it can be that I’m on iPadOS 17 beta 1…
Hopefully there will a new beta this week…

    Thanks.

  • I still have problem with Numericals KB-1 (play surface app) - before the recent update it crashed Logic totally, but, now, it works in the MIDI FX slot to play, but, I can’t record the MIDI from KB-1…
Yes, I know the longhold on the tile and choose “record midi from here” in the popup menu…

But, no MIDI to the timeline when I record…

Can someone else here test KB-1 if it works under iPadOS 16.x - I’m on iPadOS 17 beta 1 and that can be the reason..

I‘ve got some time to test it finally and i like what i see so far. Yes, there are still some drawbacks but a solid 1.0 release imo and already my favorite DAW. The stuff i like about LPX seems mostly there. Love the „clothes line automation“ (as i do in lpx). It‘s not as fiddly as in auria. I like the general „snappyness“ and (mostly) fluid interface (on M1). I like the arranger window and piano roll definitely more than the cubasis one. Or Aurias for that matter and the piano editor in auria is a fiddly piece of sh*t.

oh, and i REALLY like the function that you can open/close all windows/inspector with a double tap on the bottom!

I‘m just not sure i really NEED this now. It comes late. Very late. I went back to macbook Logic when i got an M1 air and shifted music creation more to hardware again, not using softsynth (or ipad) at all etc.

I just tested it and no, it doesn’t record midi.

Ooh! Thanks for letting me know - hopefully we soon see some changed to that bug…

  • New desktop update. i wonder if we‘ll see a new ios update soon as well.

  • Has anyone here gone back to their previous DAW ie Cubasis or whatever?

Keen to hear who's checked it out, decided to go back to something else, and why they did that.

I have pretty much every DAW on iPad and want to hear some pros/cons/workflow stuff to see what I think would be best worth spending time learning.

I've explored them all and really haven't been able to choose a favourite. At first I thought Logic Pro destroyed them all but going back to some of them, they're still great and there's plenty to like in other daws.

I went back to BM3, well actually it made me go back and check out BM3 again because I felt like in Logic it was taking me a long time to do simple things.

It also got me exploring timeline mode in Loopy Pro a bit more.

    Probably not…
It has been a lot of complains about Logic v10.78 on Mac - a lot of plugins doesn’t work any longer…

iPad Logic update, perhaps late august?

  • anyone knows what are the limitation if I will not pay subscription? Will I lost access to the LP app, or are there some hidden limits?

Since I'm on a one year plan I can't test but one is supposed to be able to open, play and export existing projects even without an active subscription but not modify them.

After the free trial, I could open Logic, but was unable to start a new project or open any old projects. A pop up window for payment shows up when you try to open a project.

  • So far impression is that this software is far from ready for release.

20 tracks of audio no effects on a brand new iPad Pro at 96k and it’s buckling hard.

I can run 100 in Cubasis on my iPhone.

I wonder if this is a language thing? Some words in English are quite commonly used but are still perceived as offensive. « Shit » and « bullshit » make frequent appearances on the internet, but that hasn’t really diminished their capacity to offend. The written word also varies in intensity from the spoken word, so what seems relatively mild, as one thinks it or says it, may have extra, presumably unwanted, impact when it appears in a forum post.

    Just saying.

I have a similar experience on Logic, although not as big of a difference in performance as @semtek01 . I have found Cubasis to be more efficient with both audio and auv3 instruments than Logic, as far as number of tracks I can run simultaneously without running into memory issues.

Ok, but for me, bullshit is just a another word/sentence for me to say someone is wrong, not meant as an offend…
