Not impressed at all. Interface is ridiculously cramped. Doesn’t especially bring anything new or worthwhile to the table, as there are already much better tools to use on iPad.
just got it!! time to mess around
For transferring session from Mac, they have to be a package not a folder and there are a few things that will cause it not to open such as external midi tracks
had a go for an hour, meh
No. Big lie…
Crash…
you can, in mixer .. just enable "setup" mode (tap on plus icon) , then little arrows appears on plugins and you can dragndrop them
You can re-order plugins in the Mixer view, look for them at the top of the channel and you can tap and hold to drag them around.
(edit: dendy beat me to it )
Come on, you and Matt are just jealous because it has audio tracks 😂
you can do dragndrop also here , just tap that pencil then small plugin boxes changes and you can delete them with minus icon or dragndrop them
this is smart, nice detail..
Reading the manual has made me realize some of the things people have said don't exist actually do but take a totally different approach to do compared to the desktop app.
Not recording midi fx (ChordPolyPad) even ‘record midi to track here’ is marked
lol for sure 😂
i was petty curious ( mostly as developer who often deals with problem of making UI well organised in app which is pretty feature packed maybe at same level like logic or even more in my my daily job) - wanted to see how they manage to solve this problem with UI, and from professional point of view i would say they failed ..
which doesn't mean people will not use it, especial when it has audio tracks which looks like most important feature on planet 😂😂
Of course, feature-wise it can't be compared, not even remotely to anything other on iOS (including NS of course).
UI - very different story..
My newest iPad is from 2017 so I can't even try it -- but I'm sure it's great, despite the lack of clones (which to me is about on the same level of oddity as NS2 not having audio tracks 😄). It would definitely be very hard to use for serious EDM.
what you mean with clones ??
The ability to create linked copies of clips where all copies change when any of them is edited.
Thank you, both!
oh that.. yes, didn't noticed that yes, was mostly playing with stock plugins and overal ui structure...
interesting is when you create project in desktop logic and you use "clones" (they are called "aliases" there) and then you load that project on iPad, all aliased copies are loaded as normal clips and they are EMPTY !! Looks almost like they forgot to finish this ... another crack on idea of seamless transfering projects between desktop and ipad
This and many other areas (like generic ui of stock plugins) feels almost like release was pushed prematurely by some manager even through some details of app are still unifinished, like beta version or even alfa version quality ... weird ..
I doesn’t seem like comping has made it to the iPad, or am I missing some hidden drop-down menu?
Does anyone (beta testers perhaps) know whether this feature will be included in upcoming updates?
This is a feature I’ve missed on IOS, and I was sure that Logic Pro for iPad would bring it…damnit…you can never win! 😉
No clones (aliases)!? Woof. That is what completely ruled Cubasis out for me a long time ago.
Oh that's even odder! Yeah I wonder why this is missing from so many top-of-the-class DAWs / sequencers. Is this such an alien concept?
Anyone is free to criticize any app, but why not do it from an informed position instead of the ranting we’re seeing here so far? I’m not saying Dendy is uninformed, but we’re all not completely up to speed on Logic Pro on iPadOS yet either, are we?
So,it‘s a crippled version. As expected. But ineed to try it myself before final judgement
I don’t see any ranting, so there’s no need to be snappy about it.
After all the hype on here, it’s natural some will point out issues and disappointments.
Maybe help by answering queries if you have more knowledge? For example, how do I load one of my own audio files into the sampler, without dragging it over from the Files app?
I remember discovering ‘ghosts’ in Cubase 2.0 on my Atari (back in 1991) and how it made my live easier
Seems nice but still Garageband like/clunky on the iPad.
Looks like if you record midi on multiple tracks, it will record aliases. So support is def there, but not available from copy and paste.
As i said.. my main feeling is it’s unfinished .. half baked …
Just info for those who are considering it as important feature - it does NOT record midi fx into sequencer (personally don’t see this as ommision, in desktop daws such feature is just very rare, but on iOS people usually demand to have such option)
If you long click a midi fx tile you get an option to “record midi to track here” - have you tried that?
Yup this works on desktop too.
