Samplr Seems t have a future integrated Logic ios if it is true that the lead dev is now in Apple dev team ? I can do music with all the wonderful apps that are the future at the end only one things count the output and if you have joue doing it , isn’t it ?
While it’s still an option I’m going to use whatever is still available to me. Since Loopy Pro, AUM, BM3 and Cubasis all still support IAA I am going to use my IAA apps if I see a good reason to. I might lose access to them in some weird Apple update in the future, but it’s not living in the past to be making the most of them now. There are some good instruments and sounds there so wherever the inspiration hits you is what is more important.
No needs standalone version to use AUV3 app there are many even plenty of AUV3 host . Sex is part of what drive music and life . Even classical music was driven by sex , Mozart ….. you are a bit too old school not only on music.
I am talking to all apps time waster even AUv3 apps, a good apps whatever the tech is what things easy natural foy you not time waster. Think about to the apps that make you waste your time for no results at all including AUv3 apps good excercices isn’t it ?
No one is saying all IAA apps are worth using. But very clearly there are many of us who recognise there are certain IAA instruments that not only have stood the test of time, but are still unparalleled in AUv3.
It's very clear you see no benefit in these apps. Great! You do you, Boo!
LoopyPro, AUM, Cubasis are not the past, I consider personally BM3 as a time waster that need to be learnt to waste time for an apps that seems the dev don’t care about its future and don’t want at least say I don’t want to work on it anymore.
Shame has for people BM3 is that fit them and it is not bad apps itself the dev not a bad dev just it not communicate as still it is on AppStore. I hope Apple will have a policy to suspend all apps that dev cannot support anymore. It not honest to drain people Monney like that.
Better hurry - only a few days left.
I wonder if someone could build a AUv3 to IAA wrapper?
Sorry not in May , mistake from me, I fly mid June to sunny beaches but before can enjoy good sunny terrace in the city.
I’m not arguing whether sex is a driver for music creation, more like questioning time wasting attributes of apps while having a pointless conversation about the usefulness of IAA.
See if you can manage this in Logic’s Sampler Alchemy on the spot and then we can resume the conversation.
I can really do better sorry but the music and sound quality is a bit shit , and the videos are not good at all , nothing against you but quality it was terrible on my DT700 to hear it.
Granular, drones all you want I can do it in LP iOS far better that this horribles output in your videos, @Svetlovska have a talent not the guy who use to do that. Logic is far more than Alchemy you don’t know LP iOS ?
Awesome stuff
@BerlinFx what you’re missing is the fact that Samplr feels like playing an instrument and bar a couple others like TC11 or Oval Synth it is quite unique in that respect.
Logic is undoubtedly a more powerful app, but it cannot be ‘played’ like an instrument utilising the screen as a playing surface. This is why many have such a high opinion of it.
While it’s a marvel of super intuitive UI it certainly isn’t for everyone. If it’s not for you, that’s absolutely fine. I’m glad that you don’t need to feel the constant pain, us Samplr lovers have to contend with.
Glad you’re enjoying Logic.
I was referring specifically to IAA and all these hosts still support that format. Even GarageBand currently supports it.
Going the hack on every app that you consider to be a waste of time is IMHO a very negative approach. All of these apps have made great contributions to this community. BM3 has been and still is a great app to use for what it is designed for.
I give my personal opinion and as I cannot afford to waste my time I consider only apps that don’t waste my time.
About GarageBand I try to use some IAA apps clicking in the IAA button got the window and after it stop to work as even I didn’t select any apps as I couldn’t even do that I reboot and try again same problem. So after update iOS or GB still there are something wrong ios16 latest security update.
Been using IAA without issue in GarageBand the last few days, and I’m on the latest versions of GB and iOS. The recommendation, at least as long as I can remember, is to start the IAA app from the 'desktop' before choosing it within GarageBand. Seems to solve load-failing issues.
Certainly the solution as I haven’t open it before that’s true
@BerlinFx I get the sense that you enjoy the arguing over the listening so I am not taking you too seriously 😀
Just like with older hardware that might need a little more time invested, you do it for the sound. Some of us work with IAA apps still because they give us sounds that cannot be replicated with AUv3’s yet. It’s as simple as that. The sound is worth it.
Quantum Sequencer is the best step sequencer on iOS IMO. Others come close but are not quite there yet. It’s worth the extra couple of taps loading it up for what I can do with it.
SeekBeats is a unique drum synth that cannot be replicated yet. It has a brilliant sound morphing randomization feature that I will miss once the app no longer loads.
Elastic Drums creates sounds and rhythms that I have not been able to replicate.
There are many other such examples in this thread and beyond. However, I would recommend all newcomers spend their money on an actively supported DAW and AUv3 as a sensible use of time and money, and to only purchase these deprecated IAA apps if they have the disposable income to not care and if their curiosity gets the better of them.
What you say is very wise. Many of you are far older experience on iOS music since the beginning than me so my view is more different.
I got in a folder Elastic Drums and I would have a second look to it at least to create specific samples or loop to integrate in my music.
You have perfectly understood my point of view and clearly explain to me what was important on some older apps.
Thanks for that
This is also a part of the appeal. Because IAA apps don't allow state-saving, nor more than one instance in a project, it can be a bit limiting and a little cumbersome. However, having jam sessions that can be bounced-down, edited and used as fodder for samplers or other workflows, is a great way to get more out of them. More than that, if you can tolerate the extra workflow steps of extracting audio from a screen-recording, just set aside some time to play these as their own independent instruments, without any pressure of a DAW counting in for recording. Then just bung the resulting audio into a DAW, or any sampler, granular instrument etc. and see what you can make from it
This is more my way to do.
@BerlinFx how many more times you gonna post in this thread? Time’s a’ tickin’!
I often wonder about the Ampify apps and what will become of them. I like Groovebox, Blocs Wave and Launchpad.
+1.
They are a lot of fun and quite useful.
How we get Apple Loops export in Blocs Wave, at least.. Auv3 is a dream..
I don’t disagree I was just saying since the dev works at apple now and it was included in Logic who knows what that means for the standalone app. I doubt it’ll get AU treatment now.
Agreed. Borderlands, Samplr, TC-11, ED, Seekbeats, the Ampify apps, Thumb/DrumJam, etc are all apps that I can’t and don’t want to let go of. They’re way to useful and unique to just delete.
Agreed. The synths inside Groovebox sound fantastic. I believe they’re derived from Novations VA engine. I would love to see that go AU to use the synths and drums inside other hosts.
Patterning is great. Nave. OdysseI. I’ll freeze my iPad to be able to keep them.
Also Sector.
