  • I’d love to beta this @cem_olcay

  • Bass player here @cem_olcay - I'd love to test your app and give feedback from a bassist's point of view

  • Tried it, I love that you can go from basic to super complex. Look mom, I'm a professional bass player!

    My requests:

Moving midi left / right and up / down while keeping within scale would be useful.

Being able to generate / add / remove glides between notes.

    Add a swing option.

Undo / redo buttons so you can go back to a generated pattern after you regret too quickly generating a new one, etc.

Can't figure out what the offset button is doing exactly. Tried various settings with various patterns but didn't see any difference between 'spawning' from high / mid / low.

Hi, @cem_olcay, may I participate in beta?

Hey all, I'm going to release my new app soon and I believe it's beta ready now. It's an AUv3 MIDI app for generating MIDI basslines with an editable algorithm.

Are there any more spots for the beta. BTW this is my first ever AudioBus forum comment. So I’m new. Don’t know if I commented right

I really like this one @cem_olcay well done.

One thing I would like to see is the ability to move the MIDI right and left to set the start of the loop where you like it or it fits best. I’m not talking about full MIDI editing, just the ability to shift it left and right so you can set the start and the finish of the loop exactly where you want it.

What the offset setting seems to be doing is moving the generated sequence further up or down in the octave range as defined in the main settings. So if you have minimum octave set to 1, negative values on the offset dial will shift the sequence further down into the 1st octave. Similarly if maximum octave is set to 3, positive values will shift the sequence further up into the 3rd octave. This is easier to see/hear without midi transpose and with a larger octave range.

That's what I expected but not what I saw when I tested it. Will try again, like u say, maybe it is more noticeable with a larger range, cheers Nige

  • Would love to participate on the beta if I’m not too late. Your description scratched all my bass itches

  • @cem_olcay couple things I think would be cool/useful

    1. When I reduce the octaves to 1 and 2 only I still get a few notes of each generated sequence playing in the 3rd octave which I can no longer see in the piano roll but are still being played in the midi to the instrument.

    2. I already mentioned this one above but simply moving midi notes left and right would be awesome to set the loop to start where you want it to start.

    3. One thing I think would be valuable is if you change the length it doesn’t necessarily reset the sequence. Say I generate an 8 bar sequence, but I only want to keep 4 bars of it, when I switch loop duration to 4 bars it automatically generates a new loop. It would be awesome if it kept the notes already in the first 4 bars. Or for example say I generate a 4 bar loop, but I want to expand upon it, if I change to 8 bar loop it generates an entire new sequence. I wish it would keep those first 4 bar sequence I like and just generate 4 more bars behind it. So basically if you could change the loop size without regenerating a completely new sequence that would be really useful.

    4. Swing would be cool.

    5. It seems like a few of the knobs could use a double tap to reset. Particularly the ones that go back to zero.

Loving the app, but would love to see some of these things mentioned above if that isn’t to much trouble code wise.

  • When adjusting parameter dials, it’s really easy to switch from 0 to 100 inadvertently when touching the area below the dial.
This is annoying when trying to move the dials a small amount at the extremities of the parameters.
Loving it so far lots of nice scales.
    Good bass generator
    :)

  • I don't want to clog up your beta, but just thought I'd let you know I will be buying this. Also @Poppadocrock's suggestions all sound like very good ideas.

  • Loving this
    But agree with @Poppadocrock
About the loop length changes , a new loop isn’t always desirable just when I change from 8 to 4 bars
Also agree about the dial sensitivity it jumps when I grab a dial
I normally just make a mental note of what it was before grabbing the dial to adjust
But this app is great on my phone, gonna play with it tonight on my iPad Pro with more lots more real estate
    Thanks

All great and valid requests 👍

  • Can we have a video tease on this gem? Can’t wait..

  • @cem_olcay would love to join the beta if you’ve got room :)

Just installed - first impression, very good - nice set of options for generating basslines - this is definitely up to @cem_olcay 's usual high standards.

Thanks, that was what I wanted to hear! 🙏

Definitely would be interested. Rozetta baseline and the pure acid generators are always go-to’s so I am very curious how this compares!

It's not kinda 303 style generator, it's more like general purpose, from funk, punk, disco to hiphop, lofi, house etc. But you are the boss of course, you can even use it to create melodies and other stuff; sky is the limit.

After you said that it’s for general purpose, naming all those styles, yes, I’m interested in the beta. I would love to test it for bassline reggae foundation style. Many other bassline generators are more focused towards more recent electronic styles. Would like to discover if this one gives me good ideas for something that is heavily bass centered like old school reggae, where the bass IS the melody and the soul of the song and not merely an accompaniment

  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • @cem_olcay If there’s room left I’d be very interested in testing this out.. thanks

  • Thanks all for agreeing with my assessment, I’m really digging it, but those few things I mentioned above would definitely make it much better.

@cem_olcay told me to share any requests, or issues in this thread so I posted them here.

  • @Gavinski that glide comment is a good one. Maybe glide and accent.

  • Very cool. When is release expected?

  • @cem_olcay please please let BrainBud control this! 🙏

  • How do you transpose an active bassline up or down?

    Yes, forget to mention accent!

    You can't 😭

You can within a one octave range by midi input from a keyboard (virtual or hardware) or a sequencer.

  • It’s really fun merging Auto Bass with Rozeta Baseline

  • Yay, @cem_olcay , can I try this?

  • Cem olcay
Hi bit late to the party but very interested to be part of beta
iBassist was fun but never realised its potential, I’m glad you gave a fresh approach

Ah, but I mean within the app. It's very weird to me that it doesn't just have buttons to transpose up / down by semitone (and octave), as well as to nudge the sequence right or left
