Cem said the drop will be Monday so not long to wait

I almost like that you can’t edit notes in the piano roll

    Rather than being rigid
Otherwise I can just use a piano roll editor like atom 2

Good luck for the release @cem_olcay
    My money is waiting

Agreed. Sometimes it’s nice to just take the stress off and have something else do the work. I think it’s a great app so far. Started making a track with it last night, tried to Agonizer.

    Cool..

@cem_olcay new functions working great. nudge function would be great when it didn’t push the notes out of the loop, but re-added the notes that fall off at the beginning (or end, depending on the direction in which you’re nudging..)

    Agreed. Have them wrap around.

That’s true, but sometimes I want the middle of the loop to be at the beginning or something like that, so with out to much midi editing, simple nudging can go a long way.

Anybody able to compare to Riffler?

Yes, I mean there’s some basic commonalities but mainly because they’re both monophonic midi generators. Some features and definitely the workflow are different. I have riffler and I am still going to be getting AutoBass when released.

Hold up edit… did you mean Riffer or Riffler?

My first instinct was to try to edit the notes after generation , even just add in a double or a grace note to fill the rhythm. I guess the only way to do that would be record it in another piano roll and tweak there…

The whole point of this app is that you don’t need to edit anything. Just tweak the algorithm in your taste and let it generate the sequence. But you can of course export MIDI from the settings menu, or record it for further editing.

Yea agreed. However like I mentioned above just that nudge is all you really need to set the loop where you want it to start.

Before the release, I added a new accent mode on the edit menu. Toggle it on the edit menu and tap any note you want to make accented.

    Dope.

So it’s dropping soon then, huh?

  • This looks VERY i tetesting, currently doesn’t have much time for beta testing but for sure will buy it when it will be available, looks like dxtremely useable tool ! You are making VERY intetesting apps !

See someone mentioned early next week. Cool.

I guess you'll dig it to incorporate to drive your hardware :sunglasses:

    Riffler

My bad, I was thinking of Riffer, lol. Its quite different then Riffler.

  • I released a final beta version, I'll send it to the App Store if everything is fine.
It persists the current sequence when you change the sequence duration, as per @Poppadocrock request.

Awesomeness dude. No biggie but @pruddo mentioned it, and I doubled down on it.

  • @cem_olcay thanks for the work you do. The bud apps are some of my most used. This one is great!

Does this have bass guitar samples or is it just to generate the MIDI ? Thanks/ wondering about the quality as not impressed with bass in any apps exceot a Pianobook one via ds. Maybe logic has better too.

There’s tons of great bass apps on iOS. Which ones have you tried?

Thanks for the comment but all of them, unfortunately. Ifretless, beathawk, all the different samples in various apps, thumbjam, the Lumbeat one (I don’t find any lumbeat stuff convincing or organic). There’s some ok ish stuff but it’s pretty weak really, either too muddy, or not enough variety, or playability for me.

I had to hunt down a few samples that were better for decent sampler but it’s still a big gap on iOS. I did very briefly try the logic one and think that was better than the rest.

  • @cem_olcay is there a setting that guarantees no gaps or rests? I thought it would be Gate at 100% but I’m still getting rests. Thanks

  • I personally find the ability to edit notes in Riffler very helpful along with the beat locks. It’s great to be able to audition changes without switching to a different app.

    Same here

Yes, you can set the density 100% for no rests.

  • I have to say I'm a bit underwhelmed by the features of Auto Bass. I was hoping it would be something like Riffer on bass steroids. Almost everything that has been asked for in this thread Riffer can do and much more all on one page without menu diving.

In the end, it's just another generative midi note sequencer up against the best competition. Given the name of the app, which raises certain expectations, I miss some kind of algorithms that generates more than arbitrary notes within a root note and scale, but rather usable bass lines. iBassist and also Riffler, although the latter is guitar-centred, constantly deliver really convincing results that can also be edited and expanded quickly and easily according to your own wishes. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate and use many of Cem's bud apps but Auto Bass leaves me a bit of a loss.

I agree, sorry to say. This can't hold a torch to many other apps doing similar things, it doesn't remotely feel to me like it generates anything a real bass player would play.

Did you check Pianobook or musical artifacts for SoundFonts? There is definitely a lack of “real” instruments on iOS but I’m hoping that will change soon. The options we have now are fine for me, but I don’t make music with straightforward electric bass sounds often. Usually it’s just synths doing the bass work.

  • I tend to use things like beef or knock to make the organic basses we have more interesting

@cem_olcay please please let BrainBud control this! 🙏

Yes, BrainBud can control Auto Bass, it will automatically adopt the new key/scale without regenerating the sequence!

Weird, I can’t get it to work. I have a look playing in AUM, I change the scale and key in BudBrain and cast it but the loop keeps playing as is?

How do you like Brain Bud overall? I think I have all of the ones it controls besides ScaleBud but it seems great.
