That's a cool idea!
Does this have bass guitar samples or is it just to generate the MIDI ? Thanks/ wondering about the quality as not impressed with bass in any apps exceot a Pianobook one via ds. Maybe logic has better too.
There’s tons of great bass apps on iOS. Which ones have you tried?
Ah - OK, see what you mean...
Yeah, I mean seriously, who wants to have to resort to piping in external midi for such a basic function? I certainly don't
I see it's been requested - hopefully @cem_olcay will add it.
Yes, I’m adding transpose, nudge and swing features. I think it will be good for the v1.0.
I can always add other stuff with the updates too. I just don’t want to add too many ‘editing’ features as I wanted to keep it as simple as possible.
Yes, BrainBud can control Auto Bass, it will automatically adopt the new key/scale without regenerating the sequence!
how to participate the beta?
@cem_olcay
I agree
Keeping it simple is good
I like it a lot
Love just generating and see what happens
Nice and quick
Ok, I released a new build with swing, nudge and transpose features. Plus bunch of bugfixes you mentioned earlier. Please let me know if everything is working correctly.
I wanted to hide the transpose and nudge in the edit menu on the top right. So, you can open it whenever you want and edit the sequence. There's an option for nudge amount in the settings menu. It's defaulted to quarter notes but you can change it.
DM me your email address 👍
@cem_olcay just added Swing, Transpose, and Nudge features to the beta. Sweet. Thanks Cem.
You can now.
Excellent news Cem! Thank you ♥
@cem_olcay new functions working great. nudge function would be great when it didn’t push the notes out of the loop, but re-added the notes that fall off at the beginning (or end, depending on the direction in which you’re nudging..)
That's how I would expect it to work - notes nudged off the end would go to the start and vice versa > @pruddo said:
@cem_olcay
Nice update
Working great so far 👍
The new beta version adds new AU parameters and the updated tutorial section.
I’ll wrap this up for a Monday release.
Looking good
I want to beta test this app! It sounds interesting! How can I join the beta test?
Nice… Looking forward to Monday..😎
An Auto Brass-Line would be a nice next… Thanks..
Before the release, I added a new accent mode on the edit menu. Toggle it on the edit menu and tap any note you want to make accented.
@cem_olcay
Accent mode
Love that it colours the notes so you know
Nice
Awesome. Definitely will come in handy. Really liking the app a lot so far.
My first instinct was to try to edit the notes after generation , even just add in a double or a grace note to fill the rhythm. I guess the only way to do that would be record it in another piano roll and tweak there…
The whole point of this app is that you don’t need to edit anything. Just tweak the algorithm in your taste and let it generate the sequence. But you can of course export MIDI from the settings menu, or record it for further editing.
I like the concept and the controls. Lots of potential here as a bass and melody generator.
It seems that it starts with whole notes with complexity set to zero. Adding complexity is the only way to make notes shorter from what I can see. It’s “plodding” at low complexity and a bit chaotic at high complexity.
How about a setting for the starting note duration e.g. eighths, quarters, halves, whole and increase the complexity for variety? I think this would make it easier to get a nice bouncy bass line.
It would also be cool if you could dial in some slides. Icing on the cake - be able to edit notes in the piano roll.
I almost like that you can’t edit notes in the piano roll
I like to generate and see what I get
Rather than being rigid
Otherwise I can just use a piano roll editor like atom 2
Good luck for the release @cem_olcay
My money is waiting
Short sharp easy to understand
And quick
Also I can read everything which is a bonus
