@VirSyn Is it possible to alter text colour, or just background? I'm missing my lighter background with black text.

It should be automatically set for best readability...
    ...but it was broken till...

    Version 1.99 just released:

    • Improved readability on light background colours
    • Tamed audio instabilities on vocal filter and amp module
    • Improved Vocal filter algorithm for "analog" sound

That's great thanks - will take it for a spin!

Just playing with the new Voice module, now the resonance knob acts like smoother, taming harsh frequencies. Not a usual function for resonance, but I like it.

Thank you Harry, on super quick update! 🤩

  • It's time for another update!

Version 2.0.2 got a real randomiser algorithm for the FM 7 module. The dice on the right of "OPERATOR" makes really good random voice presets!

The standard randomizer ( dice near "FM 7" ) retains it's function to randomly select a preset from all internal and imported cartridges.

PS: Tera Pro and for the first time most IAPs are on sale! ( Sorry, FM7 is a bit too fresh... )

    R-E-S-P-E-C-T 👊 🙏

  • I’m just purchased waveshasper pack just for a support, then randomly picked up few bass presets while playing keyboard, twisting knobs, adding drive and lost in time for a ten minutes This synth is a gem and still often amaze me how deep it can go, how rich it sounds and how clever it keep updating.
    Stellar work!

Works perfectly! Just testing it, I already made a sound bank by 🎲 rolling the darn dice alone, haha! Thanks Harry, you made my day! 🤩

  • Awesome, another great update!

  • Great Update !!!Tera Pro just Became Ultimate!!!!!
    Thank You @VirSyn

  • Oh yeah this is the business! This blows the creative possibilities of FM7 out the park! Great job :)

@VirSyn & other FM7 users … Is it possible to save FM7 patches in a User ROM card bank? If not, is that something you might consider adding?

It would be really useful to be able to save our own FM7 settings (at least the Operator settings) in a User “ROM Card”, so we can load them in like any other FM7 ROM card preset and reuse them in other Tera Pro patches.

Especially now with the new randomiser, I’ve already created a few patches I really like and would love them to be available to include in other Tera Pro patches.

I tried doing this already, and checked the manual, but I didn’t find a way to do it. Did I miss something?

UPDATE: @Luxthor Your previous post said you’d already created a sound bank from randomiser sounds … did you find a way to save those in a bank/ROM card?

UPDATE2: I notice that the randomiser creates a new patch name in the ROM Card browser - is this saved anywhere, or is it saved to a bank when I save the Tera Pro patch?

  • @craftycurate said:

I don’t intend to port patches from TP to DX7, the main reason is that I use meta controls and other modules to manipulate the sound. It’s completely impossible to port that kind of patch to the old syx format.

I understand what you are asking for; it would be sexy to edit syx banks directly in the FM7 module. ;)

  • @VirSyn Really loving the new update!

Just wondering if it's possible make it possible to be able to 'pan vertically' when the UI doesn't fully fit into the area currently set for the plug-in?

An alternate solution could be to align the sliders to right side of the module thus reducing the vertical foot-print of the UI?
(For example the mixer could show the 4 knobs in a 2x2 matrix instead of a 1x4).

Also when used in 'vertical mode' (in AUM, Drambo, Logic etc) the right side of the top menu bar gets chopped off.

Once the AUv3's on-screen keyboard gets an option to use vertical velocity and midi-out the need to use other on-screen keyboard will be drastically reduced.

    Cheers!

  • Yeah + 1, I haven't bought the FM7 module yet but would be even more tempted if I can export to DX7 sysex :)

I understand “why” this is being requested, but personally, I completely disagree.

Patches created IN Tera Pro are fundamentally meant to be used with THIS synth, not for the wider world of DX7 patches where there are already tens of thousands (or hundreds of thousands) of patches available.

All patches CREATED in Tera Pro (including by randomization) should remain in the far more flexible and customizable Tera Pro format.

Honestly, if one needs to make DX7 compatible patches, there is KQ Dixie or Dexed. I bought Tera Pro for it’s strengths, not it’s limitations.

If that’s what you want to do, you should consider buying KQ Dixie.

For my money, the DX7 format is horribly limited and when I bought the DX7 module for Tera Pro I did it to be able to convert a very old style file format into a modern synth to be able use it in a new way, one which would take advantage of Tera Pro’s ability to mix FM synthesis with other styles to create something better.

Yeah I have KQ dixie and use it, it's a very good app. The DX7 format is limited of course because it was invented decades ago, but an export option from FM7 would be useful if you want to still use the hardware (I have a TX802) so playing around with a simplified interface like with Tera Pro FM7 and then using it in the old hardware would be a fun way of programming the hardware. You can do it with Dixie but it's complicated.... :)

  • edited September 2023

Uhh, why not both? It's request not a demand. It's up to Virsyn, whether it makes sense to do. Using in Tera Pro is great obviously, but using in other synths also adds value to Tera Pro.

As soon as that old DX7 file is ingested by Tera Pro, it’s no longer DX7 compatible. I could be wrong about that, but I don’t think I am.

I would also like to be able to save new FM7 patches/voices/presets/roms (whatever they are called) so that I can use them in multiple projects. Right now I can make a new user folder/cartridge, but I don't see any way to actually save patches/roms to it.

Honestly, I don’t see this happening. The developer advertises the in-app purchase as having the ability to import DX7 files, not export them. And it does exactly what it was made to do.

Sometimes it worked already, but funny this "feature" seems to get lost in the release. Don't know what happened. Will try to resurrect it.

The name created by the randomiser together with the voice data is saved inside the Tera Pro preset. Currently no plans for any kind of cartridge saving. But I'm carefully listening the discussions here...

As I’ve made abundantly clear with my comments, I bought the DX7 import module to import files and it does this.

I never expected backward compatibility from it… I want forward compatibility! 😂

I want but don't need to be able to export them, mainly just want to be able to save and load them in other Tera Pro projects. It just seems like a shame that It's a fully fledged FM editor but it doesn't invite users to spend a long time building intricate patches because they are stuck using each one in only one project. And the only current solution would be to use another app like KQ DIxie for in-depth editing then import them with Tera Pro, but it feels like an unnecessary extra step when this module can do everything BUT save.

Yes, but lets say you spend a long time tweaking/editing an FM7 patch within a Tera Pro format patch, and then you decide you want to use the same FM7 patch you just built in a different Tera Pro patch, you can't do it. You would have to start over from scratch. Or lets say you want a custom FM7 INIT patch that you can start with every time (or a bunch of templates/INIT patches), you would need to make them in a different piece of software then import it to Tera Pro. It feels unnecessary because all of the tools are there for full on editing of 6-op fm synthesis, I don't want to be forced to use a second app.
