  • @sinosoidal is a scale based piano roll on the roadmap? I have no musical theory background, this helped me a lot in other apps.

  • Is there any plan to support apc64?

Not right now. Maybe in the future. We need to get one of these to make it happen.

When using BAM, I had a number of questions:

    1) When I put BAM into the background and return after a while, I get the message sample rate note supported. Why does it appear?

    2) In what case is sample change blocked?

    3) How do the automation buttons located at the bottom work. The manual does not say anything about this

    4) I tried changing the macro settings and saving them. But when I create a new template, these macros are reset.

    I attach screenshots

  • @Ptrvch

    1) We will have to check that. It seems a bug.

    2) the sampler now works in 2 ways. When you drag & drop a sample it will create a 1 sample sampler. This the sample won't be loaded into the pool and the sampler will only have access to it. In this mode the sample parameter is not enabled. You can change this mode manually with the "SOURCE" parameter of the sampler engine (it is located on the bottom of the "SAMPLE" parameter).

    3) The latch/touch button is for your to choose the automation recording method. In latch, you'll create new automation based on the last received value. In touch you'll only create new automation when you change the parameter.
Regarding the button on the right we have this entry in the manual: "If a parameter control is manipulated directly while it is being automated, this will bypass its automation and the icon near the Record button (re-enable automation) will light red showing that automations have been bypassed. By pressing this icon BAM will return automations to normal."

    4) The save button on the macros panel doesn't save the macros, but the sound as an engine preset. You can load the preset in other tracks and engines, but the macros will by default be the same.

Right, I thought for sure the piano roll with scale options from LK would show up here.

    2) Ok. So I got it right

    3) I tried recording automation with the latch and touch buttons active and didn't see any significant difference.

As for the button to the right, I also didn't figure out how it works...

    4) I'd like to be able to save macros to built-in instruments and AUv3. As far as I know, this is available in drumbo.

  • I would like to make a control panel for BAM in touchOSC so that it automatically recognizes macros when creating a new project. Like in akai apc devices. Can I do this and how?

Try clearing up the automation values for a given parameter. If you start recording in "Touch" mode, you'll see that only when you change the parameter will you create locked automation values. When you're using the latch mode, the first time you change the parameter, locked automation values will always be created wether you change the parameter or not.

When a parameter has automations and you manually change it (while not recording), it will disable the automations and the parameter will assume the changes you've made. Once this happens, that button will light up. If you press it, all the bypassed automations will be activated again

Currently thats not possible. I'll open a ticket about this

Thats not possible either. You could midi map the macros, but the mappings are saved per project. Once you start a new project the mappings will be lost. You could have a template project with some pre made mappings but you won't be able to map macros unless they are already present.

We have a ticket to implement a way of having a general mapping for macros, so one can map them independently of the engine that is present in the track

    Great! Looking forward to it.

  • Has anyone tried to sync BAM with other apps. I tried running BAM with Djay pro and Drambo via Ableton Link. Tempo sync didn't work. I couldn't find Ableton Link settings in BAM. Any thoughts on this?

BAM has been updated to version 1.2.0 and introduces a new expansion pack called "Techno Flavours". This is the full change log:

    • New expansion pack 'Techno Flavours'
    • Adds single sample mode to sampler
    • Adds internal MIDI routing between tracks
    • Adds rename file in recorder panel
    • New input high pass filter on Reverb FX
    • Browser now lists MIDI files
    • Improved shift interaction with parameters
    • Fixes MIDI import not loading in selected clip
    • Fixes Apple Pencil bugs when interacting with browser
    • General bug fixes and improvements

I know that many of you have complained about freezes in the past. We believe we have made some progress on that problem on this release.

You can learn more about the Techno Flavours bank in the video below:

And you can listen to all the loops and demo projects in our soundcloud, in the link below:

Thank‘s for this update. Unfortunately I can’t figure out how to use internal MIDI routing between tracks.
Is there an updated manual covering the new features?

+1 Good question - maybe @xglax would be able to help if @sinosoidal doesn’t see this first.

  • @Ploe @offbrands

When you open the trigger settings of a track, you'll see a dropdown menu labeled "MIDI From Track." Here, you can select which track the current track will listen to for MIDI input. This means you can have a single tracking being routed to several other tracks.

We have to update the manual with these latest changes. We aren't working in BAM right now, but once we get back to it we'll get our hands on the manual

Sounds good. Thanks for the quick response @xglax !

  • I have been using BAM for about a month. During this time, I have had occasional program freezes. I also noticed that when BAM hangs in the background, there are problems with sound in other applications (for example, YouTube)

Thank you very much for your fast response and explanation.
A visual indicator in the „slave“ track would be helpful.

    Guys...
BAM keeps crashing on my ipad pro M2 when i'm simply browsing and previewing samples (from the house sample pack moreover!). I don't think i managed to make a song from start to finish without a crash making me lose everything :(

  • I put my frustration aside for a moment and restarted my project, being careful to save before every modification.
I had a simple beat going after 10 minutes, 3 samples, one snare machine and one hoffmann, so far so good, until i heard a loud "pop" and then no sound.
I was worried for a second but audio is coming out fine from other apps. I know restarting the app would fix it, i'm sure of it, but I think I'm just gonna launch drambo and get things done... Sorry Imaginando, i have all your other apps but this one is just too unreliable.

  • Same here.. crush when i use sample browser.
    Ipad Air2 IPadOS 15.8

  • @GORF we are sorry to hear about your frustration. We feel it in our own hearts. BAM has definitely some loose ends and we will hopefully get around soon.

Since BAM came out almost a year ago, it brought a lot of innovations and technical advances to our internal framework. In order to make the previous products future proof we had to go through all of them, adapting them and release an update, one by one. After almost a year we are on the verge to release the latest update (to FRMS) and finish the cycle.

This means that we will have again the energy and resources to go back to BAM and improve stability, add more features, implement suggestions and release more banks.

We acknowledge that at the time being is not stable as it should but that is a heavy weight on hearts, a matter of reputation and we will not simply keep this going this way. We have only been limited by the force of circumstances.

I will kindly ask anyone that is experiencing issue to join TestFlight and I hope you don't give up on us. October will see a new update.

  • Thanks for the answer, let's hope you can fix it soon enough

  • I appreciate this comment that shares the predicament in this very honest, vulnerable way. I support you all at Imaginando and am grateful to have found such great devs that make apps I use frequently. BAM has helped me a ton with understanding how to use a groovebox and in turn helped me with other apps so I’m stoked on it.

I haven’t had the same issues of late on BAM but admittedly my process has changed for the time being, when I get back to using it more often I’ll reach out and ask for a TestFlight to help if I run into any issues and if at all necessary.

Don’t beat yourself up too bad. It’s a great app and it can take time to polish a great app with this many intricate features.

  • hi, can you somehow automate effect on master channel?

You need to select the master track and choose the automations panel. Then you click LEARN and tap the parameter to assign it. You can then perform automation on that parameter.

  • We are testing version 1.3.0 of BAM. In this version we are introducing iPhone support. Looking for beta testers to join in. If someone is interested in participating, please send me a private message with your email.

  • Great to see! Initial feeling is that you’ve done a good job adapting the UI to a phone sized screen. Nothing appears too tiny on my iPhone 12, I’m looking forward to delving in further.

Glad to see work has resumed on BAM.

I was already a tester, so tried it on my iPhone XR. It really looks awesome on the small screen and usable.
That stupid notch gets in the way a lot. Rotating the phone to flip the screen does not always work.
