if you build one in Ableton with the stock plugins, then you've also got one which is directly controllable with a Push, which is great fun too....

tutorial would be cool for aum as well as ableton 😌

This is a good introduction to feedback mixing, but it is so much more fun and creative to build the feedback network yourself and you'll have a more expandable and controllable tool which is also more personal and will sound unique.

AUM is ideal for this and you'll end up with an even better experience because the gui is better and the app is easier connect and work with other gear. It doesn't take long to set up a basic system, maybe I'll do a tutorial at some point :)

Any tips on good apps to add to the loop in AUM? I've played with k7d and silo a lot but must admit I haven't tried much else. Maybe rymdigare as it has a noise generator?

    A tutorial would be nice!

Rrymdigare would be a nice one to use. I've been using miRack as it's basically inifinitely expandable. So you can simulate the no-input mixing like this app is doing using noise generators, or just forget about that (Because you can only do real no-input with analog hardware so get a real mixer for that ) and instead just go with the concept of feedback mixing and experiment with different sound generators as the inital input.
I've been using the moogerfooger bundle for fx because all of them together sound very analog and create very subtle nuances with LFOs, and since they have the built in lfos it doesn't take ages to get set them up.

  • Why cant Drambo automate record this app. Even though you can control the mapped parameter with knob.

Drambo mapped knob to app parameter. Works.

    Automation record movement dosent.

There’s quite a few AUv3s that have mappable AU Parameters but tweaking their UI does NOT transmit the AU parameter changes so there’s no way for the hosts to record them.

Another example is Fractal Bits which has mappable AU parameters but tweaking the Plug-In UI doesn’t work for recording the tweaks since it doesn’t transmit the UI tweaks…

Drambo knobs control the parameter ( not recording via app ui )

Il map to controllers anyway in AUM and send to Drambo. Forget automation for now.

    Will keep app.

    Cheers Igor.

    Multiout needed though.

Sampling or not. Still needs to hear additional fx per channel.

  • When I don’t have anything specific that I want to accomplish and simply want to just screw around and experiment with sound and noise for fun 🤩 - I almost always reach for one or two of Igor’s apps to have a nice play with.

    Always rewarding :)

What’s the middle app? Looks like an Audio Damage app?

Yes. Replicant 2. I’ve got Replicant 3 also, but Audio Damage unfortunately didn’t release an iPhone version of that one. Replicant 2 still works great though. Frankly, not all that much different than 3 IMO

I figured it must be R2 since it wasn’t one I currently has installed. I remember beta testing the iPhone and iPad version, I guess they didn’t see a benefit in releasing both for whatever reason. Are you iPhone only? I never knew that.

No. I’ve also got an iPad 11 Pro M2 and a iPad mini 5 too. But I like screwing around on the iPhone sometimes too.

As I recall, I tested R3 too and remember there was an iPhone beta that actually worked great.

A shame they didn’t release it with the iPad version as well.

I’ve heard it can be a lot of hassle with making it work on every iPhone model but having it on the beta and then not releasing probably screwed them in the long run. Koala is one of the only apps I use on my iPhone though.

Well, sometimes I’m sitting somewhere away from my iPads and want to “play” around. Most of Igor’s apps are also iPhone compatible and fun to experiment wherever you are. They all work admirably well on the iPhone as well. For me, they’re even more fun in Logic on the desktop.

I was merely making the comment that when I’m in the mood to mess around with sound, even if all I’ve got on me is the iPhone, Igor’s apps are almost always in the mix. :) I love Koala too.

Definitely! I also use the iPhone a lot to capture and edit samples when I’m out and about. So I’d for sure still consider it a pivotal part of my workflow.

Igor’s apps do surprisingly work well on iPhone. You wouldn’t think so with how complex they can be, but I’ve found it to be fairly easy. Koala is simply just my personal go to.

  • I've come to the conclusion that this is my app of the year. It's simply amazing, for a non musician like me it's cool to get in the flow and drone away. Best app by miles.

It’s very high up for me as well but it’s hard to choose this year. Lines might be my #1 if I had to make a decision though. I find myself using it the most. Pianoteq8 and Beat Scholar are up there as well. Add Mela 4 and that’s probably my top 5 of the year.

Igor is such a treasure. Also even though Hilda came out this year, I think Salome is my favorite Bram app from 2023.
