Big Koala update 2023 out now

Anyone heard of anything? I thought I saw something on Facebook.

  • @jrjulius posted this in another koala thread 3 days ago.

“ IIRC Marek told the Facebook group that there would be a mostly-invisible code update this week or next, then a major feature update a week or two after that. I’m not in the beta group so I don’t know if the timelines have changed since last week though!”

So there is a rumour going around yes!!!

  • I’ve been hearing talks of a big Koala update for around a month now. I’m anxiously awaiting as it’s supposedly a game changer.

  • I can’t wait. Koala is my most-used app, not counting Drambo, which sort of doesn’t count as I use it mostly to host Koala.

  • Please don’t be some hidden infantile game to unlock new features. Everything else is welcome! 😅

  • Seems kind of buggy in Logic presently…

I find it doesn’t play the right pads with midi until I open the interface at least once. No biggie but will hopefully be fixed at some point.

If you haven’t, you might want to remind the developer about the issue. I think he has a Discord. I don’t know how often he checks over here.

Hope you've sent some feedback to @elf_audio regarding this?
I've bumped into a few other AUv3's that do not properly initialize until their UI is shown.

Just emailed Marek. Thanks for the nudge. I’m not very good at reporting issues that don’t feel like a big deal - always feels like I’m whining

    Goodie!

I've reported (via TestFlight) one issue with the piano roll that still remains to be fixed (when the notes one records 'wrap around' the pattern they are shown as 'wrapped around' notes in the mini pattern overview which is OK. This is not the case in the piano-roll, moving the note back in time in the piano roll the full length of the note is there but it's not possible to 'push' a long note past the end of the pattern so it 'wraps around' to the beginning).

I won't leak anything but this update is definitely worth the wait :sunglasses:

Jep. I have also seen that one and reported to the dev. I hope it gets fixed

Will dev make another Koala. Without fx, sequencers etc.

    Just for triggering samples?

If it means better stabilty and better cpu etc.

    Otherwise no worries.

  • Hope the next big update includes fx chain save or recall especially for resampling and individual pad fx’s and possibly a chorus option. I don’t know of to many extras I would want maybe better mixing and eq’ing but I pray a global play/stop button will finally appear :)

All excellent options. If I could have anything it’d be more options for mixing. A send knob for each pad or something like that would be amazing. I’d love to have more control over the compression. But at some point, I would hate for this amazingly simple app to be watered down with too much complexity. There’s gotta be a line somewhere. At least for people like me who get decision fatigue. 😅

  • Audio timeline would be the biggest for me.

  • Just the teaser of something cool coming, no idea what it is…

You not seeing the upgrade ?

  • If the upgrade hasn’t been released, details shouldn’t be shared unless Marek has given permission. In the past, Marek has asked that information not be shared about beta versions.

  • i heard its something called 'Quantum Harmonic Resonance Mapping'. It utilizes pseudo-quantum algorithms that can predict the next sample you want to create before you even do it! They're utilizing this multi-dimensional sample layering tech that intercepts brainwave patterns via the phone’s mic. This, combined with an 'Auditory Aura Analyzer', allows the app to enhance and vitalize your samples in real-time, catering to your mood and environmental acoustics. It's as if the app is reading your mind and enhancing your music simultaneously! I mean, can you imagine? How's that for next-gen sampling! 🤯

Agreed. Hopefully permission was given for sharing that. If I’m on the beta and am told not to share anything, I usually won’t even mention that I’m testing it to anyone else that’s not on the beta lol

I couldn't tell what I was looking at from the video. Seemed like Koala in Drambo but no idea what was going on.

No worries. A lame post by me.

It were just a sampling ipad.

It included any fx for random noise samples.

    Including 16 turnado au.

    But is kinda hassle.

  • Android just got updated, as expected, I can't see any differences yet.

Apparently the iOS version is delayed a bit

Won’t mind looking at the release notes..

  • All it says on Google play is : bug fixes and enhancements.
