is there a ios synth that does audio rate modulation well?
i almost don't know any desktop synth that doeso a basic kick with artifacts.

    Drambo or Mirack

as i know not for all module inputs but yeah, for some .. also for those where it is not completely audio rate, is relatively high when compared to other synths..

From non modular synths - Dagger, Zeeon. (coincidently same dev as Drambo🤣)

  • Moog Model 15 also does audio rate modulation.

  • Individual Midi Learn
    Hi,
Last week I wrote about how the Midi Mappings had disappeared since v1.02 update, I have since tried to use the individual Midi Learn in the drop down menu’s but without success.
Another improvement I would like to see is the ability to make accurate equal adjustments to both modulation Min and Max controls on the Matrix screen. I also think a Favourite’s tab would save having to search through all the many banks of presets, apart from that, BS is just fantastic and I just hope I can live long enough to really appreciate it and get the most out of it, I’m 70 and many of my friends have now gone 😱

Thanks. Another observation. In Loopy Pro and in AUM, there is a huge CPU spike (usually maxing out the CPU) when a new preset loads. On my iPad , CPU will jump from around 20% or less to 98% or more for a few seconds before settling back down.

He can't reproduce it and asks if you're using latest version, which I'm sure you do, but, I have to ask ..?

Yes. Latest version. It is probably important that this is in an iPad 6. I will check if it also happens on the phone

  • It happens on the iPhone XS. Both in Loopy Pro and AUM.

I just test with buffer 256. Open the AU’s window and position it so you can see the CPU meter. Tap the next preset arrow. Every time…even switching to the INIT preset..the CPU will jump to near 100%

Delivered! Yeah, I noticed those CPU jumps as well, they do die very quickly but still...

Also, PLEASE ask him to add an option to let the patch and wave table browsers open while playing a patch!

    Forwarded!

While they settle down, they often result active audio momentarily cracking.

Yeah I know and unacceptable for live preset change.

i can't work with it for that sounds, maybe its more for other sounds. its not very exact.

50? Age is a just a meaningless number. It doesn’t define anyone.

  • Was @Luxthor 's Sunset background changing colors?? Or did Gavinski put acid in my coffee again? It seems like it was commented/quoted a few times and a different color every time?? Still awesome colors vs the bright white.

Was the name Butter synth actually relevant to "bread and butter"? I don't really eat that, so is that a reference to a staple/cheap/anyone can afford/needs? Or is a treat? Not judging, just not familiar with the term.
But i am familiar with the term "butter face", maybe that applies here

Very true, at 70 I feel like 40, but I can’t fight tiredness. I feel as enthusiastic creating music now as I did in the early 80s, I hope to start playing live again soon, I use Cubasis 3 on my iPad Air 4, my favourite apps are Synthmaster 1 + 2, Tera Pro, AnimoogZ and now ButterSynth, I have dozens and dozens more that I use now and then. I have created around 150 BS presets starting from INIT and mainly using my own imported audio samples and wavetables, it’s a pity there wasn’t a preset swap facility, I would like to hear what others have done.
To cap this off, I would hate to just not wake up one day after gathering all these synth goodies and accumulating midi knowledge over a near 40 year period, this tech keeps me excited and feeling young.
Just watched a Mick Jagger interview talking about his new release “Angry” on YouTube, he is 80 and still as enthusiastic and up to date with tech…..that’s the way to be 👍

only bad thing on aging is deterioration of hearing.. some are more lucky, some less… in my 46 years, i don’t hear anything above approx 9 khz 😔

i just regret indidn’t take more care about my hearing when i was younger (less loud music listening on headphones), now it’s irreversible.

That’s just the topmost octave of the overtone series. Frequencies that no electric guitar amp can produce due to the fact that the amps only carry 10-12 inch speaker drivers and have no tweeters for that octave.

Now Beethoven had sever hearing loss and had to place his head on the piano to get much and he wrote that terrible 9th Symphony with the choir belting out “Ode to Joy”. I think he also played in loud bar bands as a youth or maybe had too many power tools in his workshop.

it’s very imporant spectrum in electronic music (hihats, and part of character of distorted and heavily FM modulated sounds) - when inuse equaliser, in top spectrum i basically set everything just based on my knowlwdge and spectral analyser :-))))

Sometimes i am just sad that i am really missimg significant part of music i am listening, but, well, i need just accept it ..

Yeah, you noticed! I appreciated that kind of observation, so you won the ticket for "The Synth’s New Clothes". So name your synth and theme, and you will get the shiny! 🤩

Regarding the Sunset theme for BS, some very important person told me that it is too bright, like you stare directly at the sun. So I made a new one with sun flames and toned down the overall chroma (desaturated).

I have been an engineer, cabinet maker most of my life and believe me the noise was unbelievable, I also attended many rock festivals and indoor rock gigs……I now have to wear two hearing aids, but when I mentioned to the hearing aid dispenser that I make audio recordings and relied on being able to listen to high frequencies, they just said press the right button to increase volume, left to decrease volume and…….press and hold to change to HiFi setting! I now use over ear headphones that allow me to wear my hearing aid whilst mixing, if I failed to mention the high frequency loss then I would not have known about it 🙂🙃🙂
