BS crashing in stand-alone mode
Has any one else had problems with BS crashing whilst making presets, memory usage was low, crash usually happens when I tap the OSC after adjusting the Matrix!
OMG @dendy, I sympathize with you. But don’t worry yet; you are still capable of making masterpieces and staying in the business. Look at that chart, you are still in a safe zone. 😅

doesn't look too optimistic, it's close lol
That green cloud is all you need. It’s more than optimistic. Normal, healthy ears need 20 dB for the 9 kHz frequency to be even noticeable.
problem is it not that until 9-10khz it's perfect and only from there shar 96dB cut down.. it starts fade slowly much sooner ... i noticed on spectrum analyser i tend to put hihats much louder in my music .. after i realized that, i always check my master using spectrum analyser.. so yeah.. it's not showstoper.. It's basically what i am saying my entire life - when you are doing final mix / mastering, absolutely do not believe your ears - use your knowledge + eyes on spectral analyser :-) Always fine tune thins how they SHOULD BE fine tuned, not what you hear .. Ears can be easily fooled, eye + brain never
This is true, 6 years ago I had a hearing test thinking that maybe my left ear was slightly defective, but I was shocked to find out both ears were severely affected! There are many who don’t realise they have hearing loss, also having a constant hiss 24/7 as a result of hearing loss is another issue. Spectrum analyser- good idea, I will try that
The World Health Organization estimates that in addition to the 430million adults globally already experiencing a disabling level of hearing loss, around 1.1billion more young people are at risk of noise-induced hearing loss, meaning pretty much all of us could do with protecting our hearing health a little bit more.
“Hearing loss can have a significant impact on a person’s quality of life, affecting their ability to communicate, socialise, and perform daily tasks.
“Early intervention can often improve outcomes and help prevent further deterioration of hearing.”
We were always told by our elders “you’ll go deaf listening to loud music” we didn’t listen to them and just laughed at them but…… now regret our reluctance in taking their advice.
In my case - I bet ButterSynth sounds better than I can ever imagine due to my loss of hearing high frequencies 🙁
Yeah i have this too but learned to ignore it most of time.
I have also “visual snow” but that is more like fun rhan something annoying - my entire life i thought this is normal thing what everybody see, just recently learned it is “diagnosis” 🤣🤣🤣
it’s not that bad.. vast majority of synth sounds are far bellow 6-8khz, this hearing loss is really just about hihats, cymbals - rest is untouched more or less …
I guess you’re right, I will now 🤐 subject closed
Just been reading about this condition, for some it can be debilitating, I hope it’s something that doesn’t affect your quality of life too much as you did mentioned “it’s more fun than something annoying”
i found it funny and interesting that brain produces it :-) definitely not debilitating, not even a little .. it’s nice to have some sort of “light” even in absolute darkness lol 🤣
Is there any news concerning a new v1.03 update for BS, I really miss not having Midi Learn, especially as some of my completed Cubasis 3 projects use BS along with Midi Learn Filter and Env parameters.
I will answer this myself. The v1.0.3 update was successful in fixing the problems that I was aware of and I can now once again explore its sonic potential without any issues 👌
I’m sadly still getting constant crashes
In which host?
I’m not sure if this is a bug or normal behavior but I noticed that the sound is sometimes not equal in the left and right channels (maybe not the right way to describe it). I’ve noticed that while making kicks or percussive sounds. Shorter decay times or using the lp filters resulting that the klick that should be in the center gets to one of the channels even though I did not touched the pan parameter. I was very confused and thought I have some hearing issues but I do not have such behavior on other synths and it is viewable on the AUM and GonioMeter meter.
Did anyone else notice this?
Yes… I noticed it a few times with the init sound even!
Yep there it is really noticeable and it started to irritate me.
You’re probably not asking me but I use Cubasis 3 with no issues
That’s good. I was wondering what host @hghon is using to get constant crashes as the dev will definitely want to hear about that.
I’ll report this back to the dev. Not something I’ve noticed but I’m probably not listening for it, or it might have been introduced in a recent update.
Thx
I’ve noticed it before the recent update but wasn’t sure if my ears are tricking me until i made the meter test.

I did this super unscientific test in AUM. Loaded up ButterSynth with the INIT patch and hammered the keyboard with my thumbs as fast as I could.
I can see the left channel or right channel occasionally not jump at the same time. Is this what you’re referring to?
Edit: to see the aum meter at the top I had to open in the YouTube app. Stupid YouTube shorts!
Yea it is very subtle to see in the AUM meter. I hear it mostly in the low end and on the transients. I did a test with Buttersynth and Drambo (before I tested other synths too with the same results), both simple one sine osc, filter open patches. And BS seems to drift in the stereo field while Drambo stays in the middle. Only if the note is held longer BS gets slowly back in the middle.
I used TB’s free GONIOMETER in the screenshots which makes it clearer to see.
confirming, this is some problem of oscillators, it starts with left pan and then retirns to center ...
The new update seems to has fixed the problem with the oscillators
@gregsmith @dendy @Kirnu
Good to hear 👍
