Great - please check your DMs by the way, thanks!
exactly.
Here is the post/new threadI wanted to make, but has become obsolete:
Entonal Studio is a AU MIDI effect and AU host.
During many years, two decades actually, of using and testing microtonal software, I would say that Entonal Studio is the best software for this purpose. It was released not long ago on desktop, and I immediately have come to this conclusion. It is definitely the most musical and the most intuitive software for microtonality. Instant gratification instead of difficult setups.
Another advantage of Entonal is, that it includes a library of tuning systems that really make sense. Of course it is still possible to load some of the 3000+ Scala files, or create a tuning system from scratch, but from my experience there is no need. Entonal’s library is well designed, includes traditional tuning systems as well as modern systems created by Robert Rich and Sevish. Needless to say that these tuning systems can easily be adapted to your needs, and saved. Sometimes it is just one single note you want to fine-tune.
Now this formidable software is available on iPadOS. Until the end of october it is available for half the price. After that it will go up to the regular price, $20. The desktop version is $95.

Yes... Dare I say it...Gamechanger!
Thank you. I’m gonna buy this next week for sure. I’ve recently been getting into microtonal stuff so this is divine timing for sure.
I'm quite blown away by the interest and enthusiasm here. Please bare with me over the coming days and weeks while I iron out the issues and improve the user experience on iOS. Thank you. It's very much appreciated.
I've had a few PM's about beta testing, I will respond with the TestFlight link. Anyone else interested, please PM me.
Are you considering an iPhone version?
Yes 100% just need some time to work out how to make the UI more friendly for iPhone dimensions.
Awesome
Thanks for being responsive on here and engaging with us! I’m stoked to have a microtonal app this deep on iOS. It’s a welcome addition for sure.
So how many scales (presets) does the iOS version come with ?
The dev got to the latest show.
The same as the desktop version. It's 99% the same codebase on iOS and desktop.
A new update just released (1.1.5), which fixes the crash when reloading a project in AUM.

The next issue I will fix is the Scala import bug.
Nice! Thnx
I’m unable to change the PB range in Entonal? The - + symbols don’t seem to work. Is this a bug or am I missing something?
Sounds like a bug, thanks for the report.
How do you determine what key it’s in, or change the root?
There is 5 different pages with graphs and/or tables. The 'Mapping' one tells your root and it can be remapped (midi learn) there as well. I'm very new to this and did a search and it's a ton of info, too much to be honest😂
@elemental
When playing notes on the 'Lattice' they tend to get stuck when striking more than one, two. Sometimes you can release by playing the keyboard but not always. A hold function would be cool (if not already there?)
Many thanks amigo. It is a bit overwhelming at first. A beginner can have a lot of fun just sending midi into it and trying presets until something sounds good. But I haven't got past that stage yet.
I have had a fair few problems with stuck notes. Running things through the dedupe Mozaic script on Patchstorage seemed to help
OKay, good to know. I was dicking about in stand alone. Even if you do get it to quiet I noticed the indicators (bigger dots) still remain at their positions.
I definitely think it's better used inside a host as a midi fx. Zero benefit in using it standalone to be honest if you have your own synths etc
You should make a Scala file of your condescending notes.
I'm joking, of course..
Haha

on my iPad Pro 2017 Bluetooth input crashes Entonal standalone (hamburger menu top right, audio/midi settings). Does Bluetooth input work for others with newer devices?
I can connect a Bluetooth device to Audiobus, then open Entonal, and it works. So it’s not a problem.
@elemental Really enjoying the app so far, so easy to make any instrument microtonal!
Unfortunately I’ve found that when I load the MIDI FX plugin onto multiple tracks in Logic Pro for iPad, I very quickly run into the error message “Audio Unit Extension quit”. Seems to happen quickly after some notes are being processed through the plugin (setting up a quick 4 bar loop, it won’t usually get through more than 1 or 2 loops before throwing up the error). To repro, just drop the plugin into 3 empty MIDI tracks without any other plugins loaded, record some notes into a loop, and let it play back.
My main use case would be to use the plugin on multiple tracks so I can have them all working in the same scale. I hope this can be fixed as I’m very happy with the results I’m getting while it works.
(On iPad Pro 2021 M1, iPadOS 17.0.2)
LMAO 🤣 damn @Gavinski sorry but he got you lol
That was a good one.
Also I second what you said about both stuck notes and needing a hold function.
As its fairly clear the app could have been beta tested a lot more thoroughly, I can't help thinking it would be a good candidate for an open beta
