    ……,

And with imazing the app and software is actually saved so you can transfer it to another iPad without having to DL from the App Store again? Pardon if i misunderstood but I was under the impression the apps must always be redownloaded and there was no way of saving a backup of the software itself - imazing sounds like it can though?

IMazing can’t as far as I know archive/save/backup IAP content only the apps.

  • @GeoTony @Gavinski How would you map the controller in EG Nodes I can get the slider to move in Nodes but can’t map it via the CC number as it’s not listed ?

  • Is there a way to delete sounds you don’t use to free up space internally? Haven’t found that option in XinematiX yet. In AudioLayer I can left swipe and a delete option appears but it doesn’t delete the Xinematix sounds. Not complaining about the sounds, they are all good, but I don’t have space for everything.

    I'm struggling with this too...

I attached an external drive and downloaded one pack to that, and then the 3 that I had already downloaded to ipad weren't available. No idea whether this means they were actually deleted from the ipad, or just inaccessible. It's all becoming rather a pain in the arse to be honest

Yeah, that’s was my point - the drawback of ”expensive” IAP to different apps…

How is it to do a complete backup in iMazing - does it save it all, or just apps and documents?

I must investigate this further - iMazing is although perfect for moving iPad app for running on my Macbook Pro (Apple Silicone)…

It’s really not as streamlined an experience as you’d hope is it! Hence why i asked above whether @VirSyn could make a small guide as to setting things up with external storage devices correctly so that everything works like a dream.

Yes, that is a good idea.

I am interested in buying the app, but at the moment I have no idea of how I would manage/store the sample packs. A guide from the developer would be welcome.

  • It really seems the best thing would be for Harry to expose the slider as a parameter. Especially as people are used to doing things using the internal midi routing systems of various apps like AUM or Nodes, and pressing to call up the dialogue to set the slider's CC is not particularly intuitive @VirSyn

  • What could happen if I can't move my ribbon point? It just freezed on one side (L)

  • One thing I’ve noticed is that after downloading a pack, some of the sounds in that pack wont play at all in the app or AudioLayer. Like the synth pads, half the presets are empty. The vibraphone pack too has many empty ones, no sound. Thinking the pack download may be corrupt somehow, I’d like to delete those and redownload. Hopefully that option will be there in future updates. Anyone else notice empty sounds in those packs? Really impressed with the beauty of some of the XinematiX sounds.

Just go the the sample library and re-download it (tap on the installed green one).
I did this with one broken library, too.
    No need to deinstall anything.

  • I’ve finally downloaded everything to external memory stick. It’s only 18.22GB (not the 25GB mentioned in app description - so wondering if I’m missing content or something?)

However the Reverb programs was completely empty.

When I disconnect the external storage - then I’m able to see the reverbs.

So I thought that it was a good idea to delete the app then re-install to see if this fixed it.

However, now it says I have to download all the sounds again (this was a long, painful process)

I pointed it to my external storage. It still says the content is “not downloaded” - but I’m able to play/hear the sounds

    @VirSyn - I have a couple questions/requests

    • Can you add the option to re-scan folder if we already have downloaded - then let is show that we have everything downloaded (I’ve noticed it’s quite sluggish going from sound to sound when it says “not downloaded”)

    • Re: No reverbs showing. have I done something wrong? How do I get access to the reverb programs?

    • MIDI Mapping Feature Requests: Can you add the ability to MIDI Map:

    • Dynamics
    • Latch (on/off)
    • Switch between stack & blend layers

This will really enhance playing/recording live.

I think this (recognition of already downloaded samples) works after a re-start of the app.
At least it did in one of my trials. Worth a try.

I re-started app a couple times. Restarted the iPad also but this didn't work for me.

After your message - I did a forced shutdown on iPad to see if this fixed it. But alas no.

    Hey thanks, @danbun!

  • Sorry @Jumpercollins , don’t know anything about Nodes so can’t help with that specifically. Strangely the rainbow controller thing seems to be the only control that is not explicitly exposed. That shouldn’t stop you automating it though via the long press (I don’t think) Just can’t tell you how to do it in Nodes 🤨

Great. Thanks for updating me on this.

  • Did anyone get a discount on the $19.99? I had a couple of packs already but it still charged me that. Maybe I jumped the gun on the promo. No big deal, still a great price and excited about all the possibilities.

One thing that comes to mind when apps getting really big, just like XinematiX 18GB and BlueBeast EX5 28GB (as an example) - that is the hard work to do every time you & I buy a new iPad (every year for me) and you must manually restore all IAP, one by one - tedious…

I have an habit to save almost every app and app-version on my Mac with iMazing Mac app (great), but, when backing up apps from the iPad it just backup the app, not the IAP from respective app…

I wish apps like XinematiX and BlueBeast could be bought as an whole app with all sounds, so it could be integrated into the .IPA file in iMazing…

Why? Companies can be out of business and be taken down from Appstore, and, then our sounds disappear forever…

Out of curiosity, why do you buy a new iPad every year?

    1. Because I can and have the resources to do that.

    2. Why? Because I spend zero on drugs, alcohol, cigarettes and a lot of other things we humans can live without - that money spared is spended on iPads iPhones Macs & apps - also synths and MIDI-controllers..

So you keep the old iPads ? Not trade in? (You must have quite a few….personally I would go with drugs, alcohol, cigarettes and all the human vices that make using the one ipad I have more enjoyable to produce music with! (lol jk))

No trade-in for my "old" iPads - often I give them away to people in my "big" family.
Have three iPads now, one new, one smaller Pro model and, the most important, an old iPad Air v2 with limitations to 32-bits iPadOS so I can run older software that never got updated to 64-bit...
If I remember right v.10.33 was the last 32-bit OS to iPad...

Probably your two bought IAP since earlier was under $20 - that is what was written on the first page in this thread (from Virsyn) - if you already had spend 20 bucks it's free, but if you had spend 19 bucks earlier you have to pay another 20 bucks for everything...

Just imagine now, XinematiX sampler module in Tera Pro! 😎

Edit: No one actually cares, well… ;)

Couldn’t agree more with this point. Not having the crossfade slider exposed just makes things more awkward than they need be and setting things up laborious. It’s as if it’s been set up with only connection to external equipment in mind rather than in-app automation. It’s a really strange omission considering most other parameters are exposed to the host.

    Hopefully it can be added?

  • Regarding the total size of all libraries, i added up the values shown here

    https://www.virsyn.net/manuals/xinematix/XinematiX_SoundList.pdf

and came to a total of 36gb and 142mb. I may have added it up wrong but it’s a bit strange that folk are getting a total for all of about 18gb?

    Has content been removed? @VirSyn?

    Let’s hope so. Cheers.

  • I would be seething had I purchased any of this at full price. The few presets I’ve heard sound beautiful, but most of them seemingly don’t work. Just simply changing preset can take 20 seconds+ or doesn’t happen at all. I’m getting parameters that don’t work, constant hanging, crashing and freezing. And on occasions, I’m completely unable to open the app. It’s unusable. I’ve just updated AudioLayer and that is suffering from the same issues.

I know there’s many more pressing issues, but the ugly GUI could do with a big makeover. The colour scheme is akin to a post-apocalyptic children’s TV studio. There’s not many parameters, but why are some of them hidden away? The native keyboard is too small in terms of height and expanding the keyboard results in it covering most of the screen (and not being able to access the parameters!). Some of the icons lack clarity in their purpose. On the whole, it’s unattractive, simple, yet somehow still confusing.

I’m sorry, but the app seems a million miles away from being stable and release ready.

    This is interesting!

  • I have just been downloading sounds, supposedly to my external drive, which I selected in the settings, but when I look at “iPad storage “, I have almost run out…so it seems as though the packs are going onto iPad and not onto the external drive. This is bullshit.
And still no idea how to delete the sound packs from iPad 😡
