Has the vibe of this forum worsened, and - if so - what can we do to improve it?

i can't see this forum getting worse.
and when, its not only in this forum,
    reasons are there enough.
what i noticed is some people get pissed super quickly.
    almost hysterical

  • This place is fine, as it always has been. It's more discussions everywhere post Trump that seem to be more difficult for people to process. People quickly take things personally and/or in offence when it's just debate or constructive criticism. Unless one is directly rude and the point comes across, who cares? Not everybody has english as their first language.

Pet peeve: members who feel the need to post "me too", or "I have the plug in too" or "can't wait" or "instabuy" etc etc. in Every. Single. Topic. Every. Single. Day.

This! Pretty meaningless information to most users. Also there is a good amount of "internal chats" in threads that are completely off-topic, a bit weird compared to other, more strictly moderated places. That works better on Reddit, where the back and forths disappear down their own sub-threads, not cluttering the main one. It makes finding good posts a bit harder.

So that's my only suggestion, sub-threads to contain half-relevant derailments. And a point / like / heart system would probably help with what musikeer said.

But ignoring these small things, mainly this is a very helpful place. People seem genuinely interested in going out of their way to assist with problems, which is cool.

I'm a very visual type of person, so I use images, gifs, and screenshots regularly. Does anyone have a problem with this or think it’s excessive? Because my intention was not to alienate forum members but to spread joy and happiness! 😂

I love em but was accused by someone on this forum of 'communicating like a 14 year old girl' when I used them. I think there was some pandemic or something going on and people got prickly.

Damn right I am! Get it right folks

  • I don’t think the vibe has changed much, generally speaking. However I do think there’s been some evolution. I think the forum has grown, which means more people, more opinions, etc… and I also think some people have moved on, or don’t visit as much. Not because of anything about the forum in particular, but because things change, people change. Maybe they don’t have the time anymore, or they have moved on in someway, or another... There’s tons of potential reasons.

In summation… i don’t think it’s worsened as much as it’s just changed a little, some new faces, some regulars not around as much, but as they say… “The only constant is change”

Cheers @Gavinski interesting topic and question.

  • I got one, it’s so bad and meaningless that the BeepStreet developer printed this and slapped it on the wall. 😂

It was on the Dagger release; great synth, great time, great community, great developer!

i just realised it, as i read your post.
but maybe its pretty sad, because ios plays such a great role in some people's lives.
and maybe that's why they get pissed quickly.
maybe spend more time outdoors, i don't know.
personally, i have no problem with someone being excited about a new whatever.

  • lol, this thread takes the place of what used to be a heated discussion on the forum. I did my share but don’t miss them. I’m focusing on listening to tracks now and keeping up with my goals of 100 albums and 1000 tracks (tally now 71 and 843). The forum helps me accomplish this lofty but meaningless goal and I’m grateful.

Btw, I picked 100 albums cause Zappa released 50 while alive and 50 posthumously. I can’t be a genius like him but I can out-produce him while alive. Mediocrity can be your friend sometimes.

This is the friendliest forum I know and most people here are super supportive and helpful and it’s really appreciated.

I do believe it is so, nothing compares certainly within the music scene.

In that case you have no friend then. (Edit: Meant to be a compliment since you are very far from being mediocre)

This topic is useless anyways. People creating bad vibes won’t read it and if they do they won’t care.

This is like a möbius strip of irony.
