This may be a somewhat unpopular opinion on Black Friday, but I decided to buy Loopy Pro even though it doesn’t go on sale… it’s an amazing app from an amazing developer who needs our support.

Better to have one full price app you use, than a dozen at half price you don't.

Absolutely! I went absolutely bonkers in the 2019 app sales. Vast majority of stuff I bought, I never went on to use. Sales are beneficial to highly discerning consumers only. Their cons outweigh their pros for consumers led by fomo rather than wisdom, and for who have difficulty exercising impulse control.

    Top 3 biggest purchase regrets?

I don't know lol, there are too many and most I haven't touched in ages

I know the feeling. One thing I always remind myself: if something is on sale now, it will certainly be on sale again, and perhaps even cheaper by then.

Probably best for developer relations to keep it vague. 😎

That thought did not escape me either, yes. Anyway, my point was more that I couldn't even answer that question, as most of the apps I never ended up using enough to assess.

For me, more like a cumulative thing with no particular app being a regret in itself.
Like a gambler being asked which of the 500 small losing bets you made do you regret the most?
I could lose 90% of the apps I have and it make virtually no difference to my enjoyment of iPad music making.
In retrospect it would have made more sense spending that money on a new m4 Mac mini for a dual set up.

But if forced to choose one regret, I am going to be a heretic and say Drambo!!!!

Put the pitchforks down....I have never opened it....and unlike other apps, I have added guilt for not doing so. ;-)

    Hi, my name is satchnut.
It's been 2 days since my last fomo purchase...

Yonac’s KingB organ IAP are $3.99 each right now. Is that a sale price or regular? Kind of makes me mad that an app that’s normally $25 doesn’t already have all the important organ setups and time-honored tones included.

I don't know what you consider "the important organ setups and time-honored tones", but it covers all the bases for me. Maybe I'm not an organ connoisseur, but I love the sound of organ and this app sounds fantastic to my ears. Also it has a big pile of presets that mimic famous organ sounds in recorded history.
I don't know why I'm defending this developer, either. I just like the sounds and it adds a lot to my creations. I think $3.99 is an amazing price. I bought it when it was at an intro price, and I constantly reach for this when I want organ in my mixes.

“important organ setups” and “time-honored tones” are titles of two of their IAP’s.

  • Thank you to whoever in this thread recommended Aparillo. I’ve been disappointed in most of my Sugar Bytes buys but oh wow… just bought the Aparillo IAP and the sounds, my god. Amazing.

    💯 💯

So with Black Friday officially over, my personal best synth score this discountoliday is apparently Electric. - whoever said it was desert island shit, I feel that. Midi wise, Harmony Bloom at 5 bucks, value wise- bark filter and dubstation at 2 bucks each.

Kaspar at 5 bucks is gonzo, this synth sets a bar- like nobody has an excuse anymore after Kaspar Auv3, imo. It's stupidly simple and absurdly deep. The waveforms and lfo's are wild. Thing really inspires creativity for me.

I'm curious to hear a bit more about how Sugar Bytes apps have been disappointing ... you're entitled to feel that way of course, it's just that their apps are some of my favourites, though they sometimes can sound pretty wacky and out there when going through factory presets, and they usually take some coaxing to get more usable and musical results, but boy is it worth it! They usually have excellent very detailed but readable manuals and it really is worth spending some time working through them.

Which SB apps do you have?

By the way, which one is better? Apesoft’s Electric or Audiothing Wurly? I only have the former of the two.

Can’t really compare…one is a Wurlitzer and the other is a Fender Rhodes.

This could be an interesting thread but since everyone has different opinions people need to state why.

Edit - as mentioned above this can be a bit of a sensitive topic, so… maybe just leave it there. I don’t know. Maybe only if people explain why. I’ll shut up now, lol.

The ape soft synth electric piano- it sounds so sexy, maybe it's the placement in the Auv3 list as it's just right there looking all sexy, wondering if daddy picked purple, blue, white, black panties today.

    Black it is....

This is very true. Maybe not always cheaper but it will surely be discounted again.
