Price is 399 on sweetwater

I look forward to @echoopera to being the first to try one
P lock and micro timing …it’s getting interesting . Price not bad at all!
Function follows design Buttons all over the edges. Too many functions. Nice to put onto a shelf (and leave it there). But the final question: does it bend? 😅
lol
What is P lock ?
Heavy Teenage Engineering aesthetic. Priced kind of excellent for what it is though!
Parental lock.
Wow. Porn inside?
Those crazy Yamaha sleeper cell sections of the company strike again.
lol
velocity sensitive pads? MPE/Midi 2.0?
looks good but sounds very 2k...
that was 20+ years ago isn't it?!
Very competitive pricing at $400 . It’d be $1400 if it was from Teenage Engineering.
Downside = need to use the app to unlock the full 4-op FM synth engine, But it IS a powerful little synth/sampler groovebox, with parameter locking, internal resampling, and a ton of effects. I would have picked this over Elektron Cycles in a heartbeat if I had known about it a month sooner.
Parameter Locks = A way to sequence parameter changes (filter, pitch, etc) , kind of like step automation. You can try it out with Drambo on iPad, just hold a step down and change any parameter.
I've just tried the iOS app. Great stuff in there!
Anyone else getting frequent crashes when working in the visualizer?
No crashes so far (2018 iPad Pro) .. I just toyed around with the visualizer for a few minutes, adding a few 3D objects..
I was just stunned by how extensively they’ve “borrowed” TE’s design language in software and hardware.
Indeed, TE was my first thought when I saw it and I wouldn't be surprised if they had a say in the design.
to be honest it doesn't look so great. Pretty basic
What’s missing?
Thank you for the explanation. I don't have Drambo.
A screen
actually, i take it back, i missed the sampling features although only 16 bit
Can you play the sounds etc in the app without having the actual device? Assuming it has no connectivity tho?
Now that I’ve read the manual , I’ve come to the same opinion. At least 90% of the depth is locked behind the software editor and inaccesible from the HW — which defeats the purpose of HW grooveboxes for me. It’ll be a decent sketchpad and a lot of fun for certain people, but if I’m doing all the serious sound design on an iPad anyway, I might as well just do it all in Drambo and AUV3 FM synths.
There’s no sounds in it. You can only access the manual (HTTP link) and build visualizer scenes. You can’t open the synth interface or any of the other pages without the device connected.
