Can anyone confirm here if they can get 1) audio input from a connected audio interface to work, and 2) in stereo? (doesn't matter if it's on the latest beta or release version as they're identical...)
Thanks!
You could just change the title and first post of this thread.
Too late! Already posted another one. But maybe it's good to keep the testing and release separate.
yeh, saw that just after posting. 😉
I think it would be still be a good idea to modify the thread title to clarify and to link the App Store and the new thread in the initial post.
@SevenSystems I can’t find where to purchase the IAP. I even removed myself from testflight and reinstalled. I press the (i) then what? Where’s the buy button? 😅
Also is there a reason you dropped ios15? Was working fine, wasn’t it?
Done!
It's interesting, you're the third person to mention this the IAP appears as soon as you go into the "Save" menu and then tap/click on "Save to Files" or "Share", as this is what the IAP is required for. I thought it's unnecessary to litter the user interface with an unnecessary "Buy" button if the act of buying is "stumbled upon" anyway at some point, but maybe all of you are right and an explicit "Buy" button should be added. Even Apple complained in the review but I sent them a huge bribe...
Sorry, I had to drop this because there were also issues with older devices and their limited RAM / CPU. At least when iOS 16 is required, I know that users will have reasonably current devices that have enough RAM (note that Meow does all processing in RAM so a decent amount is required for a reasonable number of available Undo steps!)
Yeh, it stumped me too. I had to go to the App Store description to figure it out.
Maybe an explanatory popup when you first open the app would help. And maybe just a red dot or something on the save button until the IAP is done.
Working on something for awhile, only to find that they can't save, might not be the best time for people to first learn of the IAP. People don't read App Store descriptions very carefully.
Well, to be fair, it's in the THIRD SHORT PARAGRAPH of the description, after an ALLCAPS "IMPORTANT" sign! 🙄
But I'll look into it! First, I have to find out why dragging the fade handles is extremely slow on M1 chips!
I’m sorry, I’m gonna need you to hold my hand
Where’s the save menu?
Is it not in the top right corner? Can you send a screenshot maybe?
I joined the beta but I didn’t have time to make a contribution. I followed the development, and I love the app. Didn’t have time to learn it yet but was hoping to do now, as a happy customer… if only I could find the buy button 😀
I'd totally appreciate that, but for that, can you drop a screenshot here? 😄 Maybe you're on a really small iPhone model AND have a large text size set in the iPhone's Settings? That might cause the "Save" button to go off-screen, which would of course be disastrous and should be fixed.
This from ipad9 but on iphone the same.
When you say top right, you mean extreme? That symbol does nothing when I tap it (tried repeatedly) and preesing (i) and then restore purchases tells me they are restored, but well, I don’t have any… sadly
😄 OK I see... yes, the "Save" menu is greyed out until you have opened or recorded an audio file. Just hit "Rec" in the top left or open a file, then you can access the Save menu.
Cheers!
Ok, the lettering is too dark, but besides that the save button does not work, I tried it to exhaustion
Ok, I get it now, but I mean, don’t you want to make the buying process a little more intuitive for dimwits like me?
I knew I wanted your app from way earlier, saw I had a 10€ card and was ready to press buy. That was like 2h ago. This is not a criticism 😅 sorry, just a kind reminder
😄 no it's fine, I've got this suggestion several times now and I think I'm convinced! It'll be added to the "i" menu for the 1.0.2 update (the 1.0.1 update has already been submitted to Apple).
Thanks for being an extra caring customer! 😊
Meh, just a regular caring one 😂
Finally managed to purchase the IAP, but honestly, I got to tell you, it’s a f’ing maze. Gotta know you have to record some sound (I just tapped on the mic). Gotta know you have to press save. I mean it’s like you don’t want people to buy it? 😅 Just replace the i with a wrench/settings and include the store there, I dunno, my 0.02€
Anyway, finally 🤩
@SevenSystems Meow is a really well designed app.
It took seconds to import a file, check it’s stereo info, convert it to mono and export it out.
It’s brilliant.
Well done.
OK, just to clear this up, I want to explain my reasoning for the current implementation and why there's no explicit "Buy" button in the menus:
I think this is a mindset problem -- some users, as a sign of appreciation -- want to just outright buy the IAP without even having audio to save. This is of course amazing 😄 but probably a "contrived" use-case -- for the majority of users, they will at some point come across the IAP anyway, if they want it or not 🤔
Is this logical or am I stupid? (could well be! I'm old!)
Thanks, very nice to hear. Let's hope for lots of happy users, whose purchases will enable a good future for the app!
No of course not, I’m sorry, maybe my case is different.. I just wanted to purchase and get done with it, as I was sure I wanted this app, but don’t know yet how it works in depth, but wanted to save for later exploration
I do appreciate your philosophy of “play at least 30 min with my app if you want to unlock the buy button”
Yes, it's good you and others brought it up. It's just a different mindset. I think I tend to have tunnel vision in these things 😄 Thanks for the feedback. Button will be added in a coming update! (at this point I'm actually surprised I could convince Apple App Review that this button wasn't needed 😄)
Is there a limit to the audio file size that can be opened in Meow? I keep getting a crash when trying to open a 522.9 MB file
From the App Store description:
@wim Ah .. thanks!
It would be interesting to know if there are any editing solutions on iOS that can handle large files like that.
