@Tarekith I don’t know how much the price between a refurbished 15pro and a new 16pro is (since there aren’t any available yet) but let’s say there was and it was a $300 difference, would you go for the 15pro instead? (Same storage)

The only complaints I have with my 11pro is that I wish the tele was longer, macro mode on new 16’s might be nice, I think my 11pro ultrawide is too soft overall… and I would love to have significantly better lowlight performance

Yes, I think the 15 Pro would still be a huge upgrade compared to the 11. If cost is a concern and you can find a good deal then I think that’s still a great upgrade.

It’s not difficult for me to justify paying for the 16pro. I just don’t like wasting money on hype and I’m not one of those who has to have the latest.

I mean, my photography experience go way back 45yrs. I’ve shot 4x5 and 5x7 sheet film cameras. I never had bank for Hasselblad but I owned and shot an RB67 for many years. I jumped on digital way back when a 1MP Olympus digicam would set you back $2000.

That said, I just spent 2 months in Mexico 🇲🇽 and I carried a decent Panasonic compact with me. Yet, I almost never used it unless I needed zoom. I used my iPhone 11pro 95% of the time. But in comparison of buying yet another high end compact, or a 16pro as my next camera purchase, the price of the 16pro seems entirely reasonable.

I think if there were a 15pro refurbished one off the Apple site, I’d likely buy it now. Otherwise, if they don’t start showing up soon, I might go ahead and go for the 16pro

Be careful with the iPhone 16, as it can produce weird noise artifacts in night photography and long exposures. Probably because of the high ISO. The iPhone 15 Pro will be more than enough for any kind of smartphone photography and video needs.

Sorry, what is "Quick Actions" exactly?

It’s the macOS feature, right-click on the image and you get that dialog with “Quick Actions.”

Good to know. One thing I don’t like about the native camera app is that when shooting the sky with a sun hotspot, the native camera will app sort of burns in around the hotspot in an unnatural way. XP4N doesn’t do that or is much less obvious if it does. I’m curious if the newer iPhones don’t do that at all.

I do like how @brambos has handled the LUTs and processing, but it’d be cool 😎 if I had an option for vivid color high contrast like old Kodachrome 25.

  • The blue lines issue is definitely a concern, but if you read the comments in that video people are also getting it with the 15 Pro.

Ah, but not from within the Photos app though - you need to move it out of there first. (so poor that Photos don't have a resize function). Anyway, great, now at least I learned something, thank you L! 😊

Where are those canal shots @lsdphoto ? Kinda looks like Hertfordshire…

They are of and from the Grand Western Canal, Tiverton end, Devon.

I do sometimes find it difficult to choose between the 'daylight' and 'balanced' film type!

On my iPhone 15 Pro Max, sun flares have the same dynamic range in the unprocessed and processed images. So, nothing to worry about. 😌

Yeah, I’ve seen those blue streaks with very high iso images from both high end compacts and decent dslrs too. Usually much higher iso though.

I bet this could easily be fixed/filtered with software

Everything is fine with mine 15 Pro Max. Did you test your 16?

Yes, it has this issue and is going back to Apple tomorrow and should pass its replacement on the way to me. My wife's and bunch of neighbors tried theirs and had no issues at all, so it's not all phone that are effected. Apple support was quick and painless about the issue, they clearly know about it.

That’s very good to know that they’re aware and took care of it. However, that dude in the video @Luxthor referenced said he swapped his 16pro out and the replacement had the issue too. Would like to know once you get your replacement if the problem is gone. If you could please let us know I’d appreciate it :)
