No one asked for “tap to focus” for close-up shots like this one?! Sorry @brambos! 🫣

    +1 - sorry too

  • This is before the update, still with the red glows:

    Other experiments:

Very inspiring - of course 5 stars in the App Store.

I should make a video with Bram Bos apps

  • I’ve heard that from other camera app devs as well, and the weekend, I imagine.

A bit OT - XP4N made me deep dive into other apps of yours, I’ve had Hilda, Moziac, Rozeta, all fantastic. But somehow I’ve never seen or read about Mononoke, which made me feel like a dummy that I’ve been missing out on it, as it looks like it was made with one of my main musical interests, droney ambient, soundscapes.

    What a fantastic instrument.

Congrats again on the camera app and cheers to being such an inventive app dev. Cheers!

I have implemented “double-tap the viewfinder to change lenses”.

Now if Apple would review the app already that would be great. They’ve become dog slow (perhaps it’s related to category and they take longer to review camera apps than music apps because there’s privacy matters involved?)

How funny that the Chinatown district in Mexico City is far more alive than the once iconic San Francisco Chinatown district is today.

    What’s even funnier… the one thing you won’t find in Mexico 🇲🇽 City’s Chinatown… Chinese people 😝

More form Mexico 🇲🇽 City :)

Oh, no single street food photo. Please, go hungry on another XP4N walk. 😅 BTW, great shots, I can’t decide which one is better.

  • It’s not about camera apps, it’s about people. Every single one of us has a better camera and can do the desired effect with photo editing software better and more precisely. But we can’t do Brambos and can’t connect our other photos with music forums like this one.

So XP4N is kind of a fresh influx of inspiration, and it makes music for our eyes. 🤩

These are all great. You just need to update the labels when pressing ‘XP4N’ (under the shutter button) just so everything’s consistent, ALL CAPS, Plus or +, Daylight or Sunlight 😉 📸

Yeah, I'm replacing that screen with a basic help screen anyway.

On another note: I was looking into support for RAW files. However, it's not possible to do any manipulations on RAW shots - not even cropping. So if cropping is not possible, I don't see any meaningful purpose for having RAW in this app over simply using the basic Apple camera app for that purpose :/

Great! Curious, what is the wireframe overlay for?

It's a viewfinder framing aid that resembles the original XPAN viewfinder. If anything it can help keeping things level and judging whether your subjects are centered etc.

  • I would LOVE this app in Android, btw (not iPhone user, sadly). Is that possible, @brambos ?

Can I use it in iPad, too?

+1 to android request (main phone)

However, YES TO IPAD! I've been messing with it, And it's delightful! (10th gen, if needed)

Sorry, I have zero experience with Android development (I don't even have an Android device) and this app consists for 90%+ of proprietary native Apple API calls.

Porting this to Android would be a massive undertaking which I'm not going to do for a €0.99 app ;)

I happen to dig your commitment to keeping the interface clean/simple. But, the lens change feature addition is perfect.

I've still managed to do all features and additions without adding funny widgets and controls to the UI :p

I have a strong suspicion this may become your most popular app to date. There's just a much larger audience for photo apps than our narrow little music app market. I hope it does well for you.

@brambos one thing… I’ve noticed that the few times I’ve used the black and white setting, if there’s any contrast at all, the highlights get completely clown out. It’s fine for low contrast subject matter though. Is this just the characteristic of the Ilford b/w film you’re emulating?

Ortho is pretty high contrast but I’ll stress test it some more!

  • Thanks Bram

Actually got a couple of picture frames in the cupboard.

Same shape ( just not so good abstract pattern from shop/seller )
