Ooh it’s gonna be a late night tonight!
And … early adopters are GO!
Ipad mini 6
Ooo--errrr--that made my eyes go funny...yikes.
I just sent this in to the developer
Thank you
I'M confident it will be fixed
🤝
As AU3
in AUM its fine.
Very nice sounding
And to think, some people were expecting issues at launch.
Lack of beta testing / quality of beta testing on these is farcical!
Ah its ok, not the end of the world.
Maybe I can be on the beta team if no one else used a mini 6?
Thing is, as someone posted in the thread on OB-XD 3, they seem to think they can do all their beta testing internally. But it is pretty clear that that approach is leading to pretty buggy releases and frustration for users
Copy of my post from the other thread:
I’ll pass, but who knows if things change in the future?
I have no doubt it’s a great sounding Nord clone but it’s still yet another VA and iOS is loaded by now with great sounding VA stuff. This, and it being a capped version compared to desktop, and the stuck-up answers from the developer regarding issues with OB-Xd 3 that are still there, makes me skip this one.
I don’ t usually get into these kinds of negative posts but DSP really pissed me off and won’t even answer despite me politely offering to help earlier and getting the answer ”we’re pro’s so we don’t need any help”. 😡

Spot on!
Less disco and attitude and a lot more work in beta testing before release is an old but trusted method…

So what iPads models does this behave correctly on then?
For "preset boys" - there is unnatural amount of presets .. you will not get through all of them till rest of your life
no problems with UI on iPad AIR M1 in NS2 .. could be better in smaller view but considering very bad history of their iOS plugins UI i'm glad it is at least like this ))))
AUM also any problems with UI scaling on M1 Air ..
@dendy Thanks!
It seems to behave similarly to OB-Xd when it comes to scaling (after the initial updates) so it should be all good except on the iPad Mini's
(I'm on the 11" M1 iPadPro).
OK, so it was only the 'stand-alone' that was a bit on the weirder side on the Mini
I'll grab it after I've had some breakfast...
One of my all time favourite synths (edit: I meant the HW)
Anyone care to share some audio material please?
A bit sceptical tbh as last time I checked this on desktop (years ago) it sounded really bad against the real thing… hopefully sound engine has improved since then.
Are there touchscreen friendly ways to do some of the mouse and keyboard shortcut related stuff from the desktop version? For example:
● Reset knob morph state by using Ctrl+Alt+Left Click.
● MIDI velocity to Morph can be disabled by clicking the led below modulation wheel
or using EDIT > Swap > MIDI Velocity to Morph.
● Knobs from four layers at once can be moved using Alt+Mouse, but if you don't
want to apply maximum and minimum value limits use Shift+Alt+Mouse
Maybe hold down morph+panic buttons and tap a knob to reset the morph state and a menu option to clear all morph assignments?
For Group/Layer editing one option could be to double-tap the layer buttons to add them to an 'edit group', when a layer is in edit group it's led could flash?
A bigger challenge would be to copy layers from one preset to another.
Maybe copy & paste layer between instances could solve this?
I'll mess around more with the app later on...
...my eyes have not fully woken up fully yet...
Expecting a third-party soft synth emulation, which is 100 times cheaper than its original HW counterparts, to have the same sound is more than unrealistic. 🤔 Just saying. 🤗
Here is a quick preset demo that runs through various patches from various banks with a bit of patch tweaking here and there.
Full programming guide coming very soon.
Thanks!
Is the iPad version really limited to 16-voices?
(This will become an issue when starting to use the layers).
@Samu Well, I haven’t tested the polyphony yet, but that’s what it says.
I was thinking the same thing about layering, using four layers would give you the ability to play four notes, probably enough for complex pads, definitely enough for complex arps and stuff.
Depends on the used sounds really, most of the arpeggios get away with one voice so there's still plenty left.
Polyphony was a 'challenge' on the Real classic Nords as well (I still have my Micro Modular).
Discovery is definitely a welcome weapon in the synth-arsenal
UI needs work. Have to open it across your entire screen to actually be able to see anything. Strict skeuomorphism isn’t really a good idea here.
Oh wow. No control routing input at all.
Another example of the skeuomorphism issue is switching the delay/gate section. They seem to have targeted only those tiny little LEDs as touch areas, and it’s really iffy. And the gate sequence itself is almost impossible to edit without a pencil.
I do love the sound and functionality. It just needs attention to mobile-specific issues. I guess I’ll have to supply feedback by email, since they don’t have a forum or discord, as far as I can tell.
damn, that's a huge oversight. is there at least a native MIDI learn function?
Apparently no AUParamters are exposed in the current AppStore build so no mapping or automation is currently possible.
So much for 'professional in-house beta-testers'. I call total BS on this...
