  • Have they exposed the midi parameter as of yet?

If anyone is interested in using the exposed Midi in AU3 mode (Cubasis 3) here are all the available CC#s. The two 24s on the two tabs are not a mistake, CC24 operates both tabs at the same time. These tab CC# work like this:
CC17 followed by a 0 or 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 and will scroll through the octave ranges, the same applies to all other tabs but the amount of single numbers may differ.

Fantastic work. Thank you for this infographic. 🤩

    You are welcome 🙂

  • I’m glad to see this getting some updates. It’s going to be a great tool for sound design (once we can see what we’re doing) 🧐

And of course once some AUParameters are exposed.

@ZankFrappa @rapidfire I just uploaded this little tutorial for your patch bank info.
So I give you both a big shoutout in the video, top job guys, it works great.

I've not checked yet, but do the preset changes made in the stand-alone migrate to the AUv3?

Technically it is possible for an AUv3 to access files visible in Files.app (the AUv3 just has to ask for permission the first time it's used and store the security scoped URL for future access).

Access to Discoverys iCloud folder doesn't require any explicit permissions to be set but even though I've set Discovery to use iCloud in the system-settings it insists on using local storage?!

Hopefully we'll get some Discovery updates to polish the rough edges.

    Cheers!

I tried saving presets in both stand-alone and AUv3 but which ever way this procedure is carried out, the bank and presets don’t appear in both versions!

Thanks! I saw your post, but I’m still wondering how to access these CC controls. I’m not a big Cubasis 3 user, but I do have it.

I saw the clearer text on this and thought an update was out already fixing the UI blurriness. But there is no update out, so I wonder what device this is on and why the text is so relatively crisp!

Use dRambo, then record MIDI to track. ;)

Interesting! I’ll have to try this tonight. Thanks to you both!

I figured out how to do it in (only) Drambo as my host. No need for Cubasis.

Edit: the thing is though, I’m on the beta, and I think I’m using a beta feature, so I don’t know if I can show how I’m doing it.

Of course you can do it in dRambo, that’s why I suggested it to you. You can even use dRambo internal automation in Cubasis. But your question was specifically about Cubasis.

BTW, you are welcome to spoil and reveal any dRambo beta feature. 👌🤗

  • v6.1.1 is out

  • I sent in a bug report for the preset bank issue between Stand-Alone and AUv3, they replied by saying:
The New Bank and Delete Bank file functions are set for the 6.1.2 update. We're still waiting on Apple to approve 6.1.1. In the meantime, please manage the presets using your DAW instead of the plugin.

  • Hopefully AUParmeters also pop up in one of the upcoming updates :sunglasses:

Yeah, I only mentioned Cubasis because @rapidfire did. Now, looking back, I realize he was only saying that that was what HE was using. For some reason I thought this was some sort of Cubasis hack.

In the Drambo beta, I’ll just say that there’s a few new CC related control(er)s and modules.

It will definitely make things easier.

I noticed their older version of the OB-XD synth (I didn’t buy the new one) has all the AUParameters. So I’m confident they’re coming.

Right now I am grateful the synth responds to incoming CC for a lot of the main controls.

The 'new' OB-XD had all AUParameters from day one and that is why I was quite surprised that they were missing in Discovery.

Oh really.. hmm I wonder what their hold up is then.

I will say, as I was just looking at the synth after the latest update; MUCH better on the old eyes!

How do you mean they were missing in Discovery

    Hi Samu,

None of the auv3 parameters are exposed to host apps like AUM. That means it is not possible to make your own decisions about what cc numbers to assign to what knobs etc in the app.

Discovery doesn’t expose any AUParameters to the host while OB-Xd does…

  • Looks great and lazer sharp in Apematrix.

  • Switching between Delay/Gate very unresponsive.

I have a hard time to accurately tap all the sync LEDs so I use the menu to toggle syncs on/off and swap the delay & gate pane.

Dials are small too, feels like I need some tweezers :# Not the relaxing dials from Sunrizer/Dagger, but I understand it’s a busy synth with more going on.

If I'm totally honest Sunrizer with its chord-memory, step-sequencer/arpeggiator and other things has more going when it comes to pure synthesis. Both have their place in the synth-arsenal for their respective strengths.

I have no complaints about the number or quality of the presets, but man figuring out the layout and routing of this synth is pretty opaque

  • @tpj said:
I love all the discodsp apps but I want to call on all auv3 synth devs.

Auv3 does not mean the keyboard is a by product.

Please spend just as much time on the keyboard design/layout.

**Make sure users can hide it / show it.
Resize it. Add scales. Add octave up down.
    **
Pretend it will be used as a full screen app as well.

Some examples of devs that get this.

Look at Yonac please. Your apps will be better.

And final point. MIDI OUT is always welcome. Notes/CC.
Midi out seems to be disabled in the minds of auv3 devs.

midi out is not just the task of auv3 midi generators.

Your auv3 synth is a midi generator too.
The on screen keys/controls are midi generators too.

Why is Animoog the only synth that does it right?

    Thank you

Yea midi out is not as widespread as I wish. Sometimes I’m playing the synth in Au, get something I like and want to record it straight into a piano roll as opposed to switching to another keyboard and trying to replicate it.

    Sweet.

I got a feeling this will get the attention it needs.
