    * disclaimer. I have about a 99% track of being dead wrong about marketing decisions over the course of my business career.

Seriously. I think this is the best. loopypro.com is fine from a short-term marketing perspective, but I doubt Loopy Pro will be the one and only product @Michael puts out for life.

Audiob.us forum is a textbook worthy case study in brand name promotional success. The difficulty in figuring out how best to rebrand now is evidence of that.

How many people read "atastypixel" and had no idea what I'm referring to? If you did then I rest my case.

There absolutely should be some payback in marketing terms for this free, non-advertising cluttered service. (I hope anyone that has begrudged that just didn't think it through fully.) Until now, Michael, you haven't built your developer brand like you have your individual app brands. Maybe it's time to think in a bit broader terms.

Good point. There are other good points people have made too about the validity of going for a name that really represents this place, like Mobile Music Forum etc. There have been other good points made about how it might be good to bring Android users in here, if even just to tempt them over. Definitely worth having a long, nuanced and civil discussion about all this, for sure for sure!

Thanks @wim! Actually for the foreseeable future, Loopy Pro is it. I have enough plans for that app to last me at least 10 years, so it’s quite deliberate that I’m focusing on that instead of the more generic brand.

Not a bad name either. A tasty pixel references all digital products. Not just iPhones. Apps like Koala, and Cubasis are cross platform, and I really wanted a forum that Android users like myself to share topics.

I'm fascinated by the Audioroute protocol implemented by Android, and I'm sure a few developers would love a place to discuss about it.

In additon, I do love chiming in about raspberry pi stuff, and Arduino stuff, which in its own way relies on pixels to actually configure it.

Actually, can we vote? I personally would love A Tasty Pixel as the webpage. I'm also fine with Loopy Pro Forum, even if it's a subsection of the A Tasty Pixel page.

And also, if there's a small section that links to the Drambo Forum, that would be great as well. Those guys (or drambonauts as they like to call themselves), do insane work in the signal manipulation field.

It's such a cool brand name though. 😎

I don't think voting for something like this is appropriate.

Indeed! I’m still open to the possibility that we are wrong about forum.loopypro.com. I think a factor that the later comments may not have taken into consideration is the benefit that it will offer to Loopy Pro; both the user community and the brand itself. I’m terrible at self promotion, but I think this might be a good idea on that front, and I don’t think it would have any detrimental effect to the forum given that it’s currently the Audiobus forum anyway.

It’s an idea that I dismissed originally, hence the thread asking for suggestions on new names, but I was persuaded along the way.

In fact, if I was a mod I would close the thread dude. I think this was fun but the [right] decision was made…. I would even encourage Michael to consolidate further and just keep one domain for the flagship product (LP), get rid of atastypixel.com, and all traffic is routed to LP main page first, and everyone has to try the demo if they want to sign up to the forum….new members = new customers

[anything below the line is not to be taken seriously]

got me in the first half not gonna lie

  • I haven’t read beyond the first three or four responses, but I like Mobile Music Society. It sounds old fashioned in a good way. It seems civilized, and perhaps will inspire us to be the same.

Oh, man, I'm so consistently flummoxed when faced with somewhat-arbitrary decisions 😆

I've had quite a few people now make vigorous arguments for using "forum.loopypro.com", and I'm starting to come around. The downside – the breadth of the forum relative to the name – is one that already exists in the current setup and certainly won't get any worse, while the upside for Loopy Pro is arguably pretty considerable: Loopy Pro peeps who are looking for community will find a brilliant, vibrant and relatively on-topic one, and it'll certainly help to support me and my work (and I need all the help I can get because I'm a rubbish businessman!).

Thank you so much for the input everybody – I’m just gonna close this thread so people who have missed the major points in this thread which are buried in previous pages don’t continue to invest effort in proposing name suggestions as I think we have a decision!
