I think the fact that AudioBuffs sounds so close to Audiobus makes it the favourite for me. It feels like a connection.

Now, does it really need a new name at all? Audiobus is a pretty cool name after all.

It is, and it was fine using that for the forum while the brand was mine, but now that it’s going to Francesco and Andrea, but the forum isn’t, I think they need to be separate

You don't want to make it "LoopyPro Forum"?

In theory, I'd love to - the businessman in me, anaemic as he is, likes the idea of being able to Capitalise on the Branding Opportunities. But it feels disingenuous, largely because it's not at all the Loopy Pro forum, but far more general.

Ooh those are interesting, @Simon . And hilarious.

    And what about...

    The Gain Stage
    The Noise Floor
    The Feedback Loop
    The Bleep Bloop Collective

Those sound like they could be different sub-groups on AudioBuff. ;)

  • The TastyPixel forums?

    AUV3Forums.us

  • Sound4Less (sorry Leo😁)

No rush! I did buy "audiobuffs.org" in a fit of impulsiveness, but it's only a few bucks and I'm not attached to it.

May want to grab audiobuff.org (no “s”) just in case anyone uses either spelling, then you can redirect traffic to the correct URL. That’s what I do with my domains.

  • @Michael if you’re willing and it’s something that you need anyway, it should be the Loopy Pro forum. Just sounds right…

  • In case I wasn't clear, by the way:

Audiobus (the app) is going to Francesco and Andrea
The Audiobus Forum is staying with me

Well, you are kind enough to host the Forum for us so it would be good that you get something in return. The extra exposure for LoopyPro won't hurt.

And it is no more disingenuous than the AudioBus Forum being called that when there was only a tiny bit of AudioBus content in it.

I reckon you should go for it...

I'm OK with it. I suppose just like AudioBus, the site became bigger than the product, so this site could have the multi-pronged effect of promoting your app and still remain the diverse discussion forum it is today.

I lean towards something more generic, as the forum is more broad than Loopy Pro (and a lot of that conversation seems to happen on Discord?). But I'm happy with whatever.

I lean that way too, I’m kind of torn.

Actually now that I think about it, I think making it the Loopy Pro forum would not be the best choice because people are inevitably going to make a posts asking about LP features without context that would otherwise be necessary for a general forum like this one, so it would probably be a bit misleading and annoying.

    Wise :)

You could direct forum.loopypro.com to the Loopy Pro section of "the new forum.audiob.us"? Maybe just too complicated though? :P

    GlassNotKnobs.com

    Touch The Music Forums

    RidingAtTheBackOfTheTheLoopyBus.com

    Mobile Music Makers

Bring Back The Headphone Jack Collective

    (joking aside)

Audio Buffs sounds like a weird neck warmer that covers your ears to me, and while I love and respect Loopy Pro, it’s honestly not at all what this forum is about most of the time. I think the one over-arching theme of this forum is that we all tend to talk about tools for making music on the go. iPads, iPhones, groove boxes, stupid TE shit people argue about, sp404, Move, small mics and cheap headphones, etc. if it was me, I would focus on that as it seems to be what attracts people here and keeps them checking in.

    Just my $0.02.

  • mostlymobilemusic.com ?

  • I LOVE touch the music forums! PS The Pro Finger Your Surfaces Collective/Forum/Association? Cheers, ED

  • The diversity of opinions in this thread so far makes me feel far better about my level of bafflement at what to call this forum 😄 It's really not clear!

Seems the initial parts of the decision tree here are:

    1. a: "Loopy Pro Forum" or b: something not connected to Loopy Pro (I think there's a compelling reason to pick 'b', although maybe include something like 'By Loopy Pro', for a bit of brand recognition boosting)
    2. a: Something that connotes iOS or mobile-specific content, or b: Something more general

Arguments in favour of 2a are:

    • That's mostly what the forum has been about since the start, and probably one of the main things that makes it unique (aside from all you lovely people, that is)
    • Niche and specific is good, makes it easier to represent stuff

Arguments in favour of 2b are:

    • Opens it up explicitly to broader discussions about music production, which might make it more inviting to a larger crowd

Hard to know what to prioritise, there.

If prioritising 2a, then we'd want something very specific in a name like "Mobile Music Community", "Touch Music Forums", etc. If prioritising 2b, then it's basically wide open and could be anything, although I'd like to find something a bit tongue-in-cheek, maybe a bit self-deprecating.

  • I think we're leaning back toward AudioBuffs, then. B)

Seems totally reasonable as you are hosting.

  • I much prefer Loopy Pro being in the name than Audiobuffs, although I do like good hifi

  • Ishouldbemakingmusic.org

    Ionlytouchmyscreeninmymothersbasement.com
    Loopyproisthenuts.com
    Ijustbuymusicapps.org
    Typebeforeyouthink.com

The meme suggesting names are endless :)

Whatever the name is I think it needs to convey a focus on mobile, that also includes other areas of music making. I think it’s important to keep the vibe and focus of the forum consistent through the transition. Not to say other areas wouldn’t be welcome over time, but at its core, this amazing space has been mostly about mobile music making, a willingness of the members to help/share/contribute, and a great repository of music knowledge and information both in past threads and in real time.

    AudioOrBust
    AudioBussed
    iOS Music Collective
    iMusic
    IMusic Forum

That’s off the dome might need to have a think.

Update. nevermind this, I commented without reading the whole first post, duh.

  • Just the lower case letter ”i” would get the point across without any concern.
