Strangly reminded me of PWEI Def Con One - confidence is high!

    This comment! Haha!

Yesterday I saw an old dude on a mobility scooter with bass bins blasting out bass heavy electronica.

A good friend of mine (he is in his seventies) had a stroke a couple of weeks ago. When I visited him in hospital I was delighted to see his roommate of similar age sitting in the bed, cans on and noodling with a Mac and an Ableton Push 2 under supervision of his son. My suggestion to bring some gear and have a jam was deeply appreciated.
Sadly my friend got moved to a different ward when I visited him next time. The good side: He is back home now.
But hey - electronic music for the elderly could definitely help to brighten up some dull lives.

    That is a solid idea.

  • Are we ever gonna find out whats Jim's new toy is ?

    Toy.

    Stay Mellow.

  • I just saw a looper in it like Loopy Pro.

  • Grooverider 2 ?

    Grooverider 2 ?

Was listening to Jean-Michel Jarre's "Electronica 1 - The Time Machine", and honestly the demo music in this ad sounds quite a lot like the music from that album. I saw the name "Groove Rider" in the video somewhere. Hopefully it supports AUv3 hosting. But even if not, the demo music sounds so good with whatever comes inside of it. I wonder if @jimpavloff can tell us more. :)

I saw those live loops. I never clicked with live loops before, but maybe this time it'll work. If not, I noticed it does have a timeline function like a DAW. Perhaps it's the Groove Rider DAW Edition or something of the sort.

I liked Logic Pro for mastering, but when I tried to produce tracks in it last month, it had some showstopping bugs (namely, parameters of plugins reset themselves mysteriously lol). Then when I exported from Logic Pro, somehow it reversed the stereo field on me (right went to left and left to right). I used Logic for its timeline and excellent automation features.

Maybe not it never clicked with me. I’m a masochist so Ableton forever 😅😛

Ableton is a fantastic DAW, and I wish it would come to iOS in a touchscreen-intuitive manner. That would be the end-all, be-all DAW on iOS.

  • I think it is fairly established that it does host Auv3, with Troublemaker presented in the the demo video..

    Can’t wait..

Do you have BAM? I was messing with it right before I logged on today and it’s really dope to just get going. Has everything you dig. Been really stable on my old ass iPad 3.

Also Loopy Pro has that timeline thing you dig. I hope you’ll jump back in on 2.0.

I really like Note honestly. I don’t need the connectivity, it gives me the opportunity to just create and not worry about bringing anything else in and get paralyzed by decision. I know they’ll never make a full featured daw. I don’t blame em lol

Yeah, I wonder what Benn Jordan would think. And, this iPad Mini 7 is built like a miniature tank indeed. I also had N-Track Studio 10 reset plugin parameters to be fair, and it was far more prevelant than in Logic Pro. Cubasis 3 hasn't reset plugin parameters, and neither has Nanostudio 2. Whatever JIm's cooking looks like it could become my new DAW-like environment.

Note is really cool. :) I prefer to use Nanostudio 2 myself for coming up with new ideas. Just one piano sound, and I lay out bass, melody, and harmonies. It's how I nailed the counterpoint in "Rondo" to be fair.

I prefer the traditional-styled timeline as seen in most DAWs as opposed to live loops and that sort of thing, but by the looks of it, JimAudio's new upcoming app seems to cover both of these well. I'm just wondering how the automation will be like in this new GR app.

Do you have BAM? I was messing with it right before I logged on today and it’s really dope to just get going. Has everything you dig. Been really stable on my old ass iPad 3.

I hope so too. I imagine it would be, given I'm back into Ambient and Experimental, albeit of a far more "palatable" variety that an average music listener will gravitate towards and enjoy.

So true. 10 years ago, many music app devs understood the versatility of a touch screen. Doesn't seem to be the case these days (mostly).

I hope there'd be a Nanostudio 3, but I doubt it. If this new GR app can handle audio tracks, MIDI tracks, automation, etc, and do it swimmingly well, it jolly well may be the "Nanostudio killer" for me. RajahP has already helped me confirm AUv3 plugin hosting!

I saw those live loops. I never clicked with live loops before, but maybe this time it'll work. If not, I noticed it does have a timeline function like a DAW. Perhaps it's the Groove Rider DAW Edition or something of the sort.

It seems like a big undertaking.
Wait I thought you liked logic? Isn’t Live Loops like the main function of it?

I liked Logic Pro for mastering, but when I tried to produce tracks in it last month, it had some showstopping bugs (namely, parameters of plugins reset themselves mysteriously lol). Then when I exported from Logic Pro, somehow it reversed the stereo field on me (right went to left and left to right). I used Logic for its timeline and excellent automation features.

That’s unfortunate! Is it because of the iPad Mini?? I don’t know why it would be that thing is new and a tank. I’m just deep down an Apple software hater lol. I wish I Benn Jordan on YouTube had Logic Pro for his recent mastering comparison vid. I’m curious how it would have done.

Damn you got all the DAWs. Remind me you do like / prefer a timeline right?

I prefer the traditional-styled timeline as seen in most DAWs as opposed to live loops and that sort of thing, but by the looks of it, JimAudio's new upcoming app seems to cover both of these well. I'm just wondering how the automation will be like in this new GR app.

Do you have BAM? I was messing with it right before I logged on today and it’s really dope to just get going. Has everything you dig. Been really stable on my old ass iPad 3.

I have BAM but, uhhh, I forgot I have it. 😅 Lol. I should definitely look it up on Youtube and then give it a shot.

It’s so intuitive you could just pick it up if I understand your process somewhat. Some amazing demos on there too, YouTube works too. Imaginando have a short playlist for getting started.

I think I may be able to pick it up. Watching some videos now, and it seems very intuitive.

Also Loopy Pro has that timeline thing you dig. I hope you’ll jump back in on 2.0.

Oh I plan to. :) Michael has done an amazing job with Loopy Pro so far.

It’s Jim Audio so he’s one of the rare instant gets for me, but I hope Loopy Pro ends up being one of your destinations for certain tracks.

I hope so too. I imagine it would be, given I'm back into Ambient and Experimental, albeit of a far more "palatable" variety that an average music listener will gravitate towards and enjoy.

Maybe not it never clicked with me. I’m a masochist so Ableton forever 😅😛

Ableton is a fantastic DAW, and I wish it would come to iOS in a touchscreen-intuitive manner. That would be the end-all, be-all DAW on iOS.

So many devs just seem to forget how intuitive and intuitive extra dimensions touch screens are. It’s a shame.

So true. 10 years ago, many music app devs understood the versatility of a touch screen. Doesn't seem to be the case these days (mostly).

I really like Note honestly. I don’t need the connectivity, it gives me the opportunity to just create and not worry about bringing anything else in and get paralyzed by decision. I know they’ll never make a full featured daw. I don’t blame em lol

Note is really cool. :) I prefer to use Nanostudio 2 myself for coming up with new ideas. Just one piano sound, and I lay out bass, melody, and harmonies. It's how I nailed the counterpoint in "Rondo" to be fair.

Ooo that’s dope. Makes sense. Is there a 3 coming for that app?

I hope there'd be a Nanostudio 3, but I doubt it. If this new GR app can handle audio tracks, MIDI tracks, automation, etc, and do it swimmingly well, it jolly well may be the "Nanostudio killer" for me. RajahP has already helped me confirm AUv3 plugin hosting!

Have you messed with the Koala Quokka synth yet? I figure that youd be all over that and now especially after reading this.

I updated, but I haven't yet messed with Quokka synth, lol. I've been more into Twin 3 these days. 😅

Twin3 is superb, I almost think it’s now the best synth on iOS…we’ll see when synthmaster 3 arrives.

Synthmaster 3 could jolly well give Twin 3 a run for its money, that's for sure. But, then again, Synthmaster 3 could be a completely different flavour of synth. Twin 3 has a built-in effects section that sounds incredible, and its easy modulation system is second to none in my own opinion. But Synthmaster 3 also looks bomb af if any of the videos I saw on Youtube of its desktop version are anything to go by.

All I know is Twin 3 is getting a lot of love from me, and SM3 will probably get a lot of love from me too. I'm still working my way around Twin 3. I just purchased the new Solderbox by BramBos and Jakob_Haq, and can't wait to dig into that synth even further. (God, the sounds its filter can make in conjunction with its distortion unit is just chef's kiss.)

As an EDM producer, I've been stuck on Obsidian in NS2. But as someone who's producing more like Tangerine Dream and Jean-Michel Jarre these days, I'm always looking for cream-of-the-crop synths that make me sound better than I actually am. 🤣

The video teaser shows it as a host for apps other than Jim Audio apps, you can see a list containing other AUs from other developers as well.

I know. My point was though that it seems as though the Jim classics are not shown as merely loaded in as AUv3.

See, this shot from the video....

My guess would be that you are just seeing Attack as a mapped AU parameter. We can see the same for Cutoff and maybe some others, too, perhaps from any other AUv3 plugin.

Similar to how you do in Drambo for bringing any AU parameter to the host UI.
