Does the AU have the keyboard? I see it’s MPE.

See my comment a few messages back regarding MPE. There is no keyboard access in the standalone or AUv3 that I can see, unless there is a hidden setting somewhere to enable it. From the UI it seems not.

It has the keyboard on iPhone in standalone, on iPad I couldn’t find it as well.

Wow, strange that it is on iPhone but not iPad.

Some of the screenshots on the AppStore show a keyboard.

Hey, on the iPad, in standalone, rotate your iPad to portrait.

Just tried it out. It uses almost 50 % CPU as a single instance hosted in AUM on my iPad Air 4… so not worth to me. The interface is not very easy to handle. It seems to be a straight port and has tiny touch areas. Even when scaled to almost full screen, I had many false touches. Still crazy and fun sounds!

Tiny touch areas again. Hmmm. Not the first time they did this. Might affect Windows tablets too.

  • Thanks for the link! Any idea how to import these presets into the app after I’ve downloaded them? I’ve had no luck so far.

Touch the preset name to go to presets. Next to where it says packs, there is a pack download icon, touch that and it will let you find the downloaded pack.

I made a Test Drive Demo with 4 Atoms instances:

1 driven by Harmonicc Bass output
1 driven by Harmonicc Chord output
    2 Lead instances

I put an instance of the new “Frostbite 2” reverb set to “Echo Verb”.

Harmonicc is the new @cem_olcay chord sequence generator.

I think what distinguishes this synth is the “micro detuning” that mimics whale song. In a polyphonic context it has a disturbing, emotive quality.

Any mention about price after Intro sale? That’s coming in on the steep side…

Price will be $29.99 after intro

Yes, is there an iOS specific manual, or is that feature actually mentioned anywhere? Like most people, I suspect, I basically never use my iPad in portrait for making music!

Well unless you use Koala Sampler in standalone, to mimic an SP404, but what crazies do that? 😊

Anyone else run into a bug where you change presets but the sound stays the same? Has happened to me repeatedly, using the AUv3 in AUM. Sometimes the preset name changes but the knob values etc don’t. Sometimes even the preset name does not change. I have had this happen when using the main preset browser, the arrows, and even when using AUM’s internal preset system. Something badly messed up there. Will try a reinstall I guess

There are some good sounds in there…some I wouldn’t be able to use. I think it’s a young product. There needs to be more controls available, and proper MPE. The FX need dialing back in use. I just started playing with it, as I won a s/n from Leo’s Sound for More channel.

I find it irritating that they call it MPE when it's just aftertouch. Would be cool if full MPE came to Atoms, but I have my doubts sadly.

Currently the nicest thing I can say about Atoms is that it has inspired me to make physical modelling type patches and synths in Drambo. Way easier than I thought! 🤷🏽‍♂️

seems like the threads got merged. thanks for the info, i must have missed it.

Looks like this is coming very soon now which is awesome. Always great to see more releases!

I have a question for @tristan or anyone who might know:
Atoms 1.1 on desktop added midi learning which made the MPE more capable, but are you able to do smooth pitch bending on an MPE controller with it? Seems like the pitch bend might be limited to +-2 semitones?

Happy to answer this! Actually, I'll share a quick message from the Atoms dev himself on why the pitch bend range is limited at the moment.

"...I really wish it was straightforward to implement. However, due to the underlying sound generation algorithm, pitch bending too much is impossible in the current setup...More technically: extreme bending would require adding and removing masses and springs at runtime, which causes audible artefacts and possibly (and more importantly) an unstable simulation. I have been working on a way to properly do this, but it would require a lot of time to get right. Would love to implement it though, as it is definitely an awesome additional way of expression"

    good info, thanks

Yes, same here. It is obvious when changing the preset directly with the preset list open.

Good to know, maybe I won’t bother with a reinstall then. More beta testing was clearly needed, hopefully that can be fixed soon

  • That’s wonderfull and mysterious. Liked it a lot and already listened twice :)

Did i understand the video it correclty, that the high pitched spooky sound is produced by ring-fx ? That channel was muted at 3:26, but there is still another more softer high pitched sound - so it‘s a composition of two spooky sounds ?

Yes, the main ‘spooky’ sound is RingsFX and the other is from one of the instances of Atoms. I muted them to try to show the different sounds, but if I use it in a track, I will fade them in and out.

I’ve also found that Atoms makes some great sounds that are completely with sounds from my Minilogue XD.

  • Hopefully before intro price ends too.
    :)
This looks and sounds great… holding off for the minute tho’,
