Is this thing using any pitch, time, or formant shifting? If it is then I will learn it…if it isn’t I will await serato sampler on iOS. Or similar.
If it’s a conventional sampler with multisamples and keymapping I don’t see what it has to offer other than super high quality reverb and a cryptic method of doing what many other multi samplers do on iOS already. Sorry but it’s not innovating anything except confusing me and being microscopic and weird
Kudos to their reverb though….thats great stuff in my ears!
And I own a mercury x pedal…which of course is the best reverb on earth to me…but I wish they would release the reverb from soundbox as a separate reverb plug auv3
New instrument from Kompose Audio coming soon..

I really like Soundbox, but a word of warning I was unable to load it in Logic for iPad today, just got an error message saying the plugin failed to load and to contact the developer. My guess is that there wasn't enough free memory to load it in this session, because I have used it in other Logic projects. This is on a 1TB M1 Pro with 16Gb of memory.
These are ok but you don’t get many presets for the money each preset for this new one works out at £5 each.
My install crashes if I have more than 2 instances on iPad mini 5. Can get away with more on iPad Pro M2.
I bought both of the Kompose packs that are large and dense… so I’m sure that has something to do with it
I had higher expectations for this app - its seems very much aimed at textures and soundscapes only. I have all the current packs on offer and wont buy any more, and this voices one is a bit meh!!
Just my oppinion
I'd mostly agree... though I do like the Kompose packs I bought. I think I would've just got one instead of both though... and I think this app would have more potential for me if I could upload my own samples. I'm not paying $25 for one of the Audiomodern packs just to get that one feature though.
I think Audiomodern needs to make and sell some new sound packs . UVI got it right, so can they.
I have decided to give up on this, well at least I hope my money for that VOX pack gets refunded. Should be fine but you never know.
Thing is, it's just too much and already we see a few releases and I know - I'm weak 🥲☺️ and will buy ... needed or not.
I have Xine..x and a few other options and it just have to be enough. If this was my first buy of this kind and they did a few things a little bit better I probably would have praised it to all the gods.
Soundbox won't load in Logic at all for me now, after installing a couple more libraries purchased from third-parties. I'm assuming it's running out of memory before even fully launching the app. So basically it's not properly optimised for iOS, because other sample engines don't run into this issue.
Sounds more like it doesn't do any kind of disc-streaming and loads the entire sound banks into RAM or something?!
That's my guess.
I’ve only got the 2 free packs from Audiomodern and the 2 currently available from Kompose. It works fine for me as long as I don’t use more than a couple instances.
I don’t use Logic on macOS but same packs work fine in Logic for macOS.
I was near giving up too, but once I started making my own patches, mixing and matching from all the various pack samples, I’m liking it more.
If they made the user sample import available for a couple bucks without having to buy a whole $25 Audiomodern pack… I’d like it a lot more
Kompose Audio has released ‘Adrift for Soundbox’ on iOS!!
https://komposeaudio.com/products/kompose-audio-adrift
Here’s an introduction:
Adrift includes 2 truly breathtaking presets.
Preset 1 - Four lush, evolving pad layers that flow together effortlessly, sparking endless inspiration.
Preset 2 - A beautifully playable instrument, recorded from a selection of vintage synths, perfectly crafted to complement Preset 1.
For iOS , M4 series chip recommended. Not officially supported for iOS as of yet
I wonder if they push the font size to 50% ?
Let's first see if they can make it even smaller. Surely microscopic fonts are possible on a Retina display.
Soundbox doesn't load inside Logic on a 2024 iPad Air (with M2). Someone else with the same issue?
Working after rebooting the iPad.
The app, or this preset pack?
The presets need to be optimized for iOS? That sounds weird to me. Are they compressing the samples?
Crazy to me that one plugin can bring down one of the strongest cpus on the planet today. Maybe I’ll pick this up when Apple drops the M8 and they finally fix up their fonts 😂
Soundbox loads and works ok in Logic on my device:
iPad Pro 3rd Gen 11”
I have Kromium, Mechania, Soundbox Demo and Umbria packs installed
Storage is pointing to a 64 GB microSD card in a card reader
Soundbox version 1.0.2
The export works now on all packs for me, and it was not previously.

Might be daft question but can the Xinematix soundpacks be loaded into soundbox (it is unlocked)?
That's Audiomoderns free pack - been available for a couple of weeks - https://audiomodern.com/shop/packs/mechania/
I think you already answered this one yourself 😂👍
I can't resist responding to this, although @Gavinski has already answered. However, just because I enjoy a challenge, there is theoretically at least one way to get some of the sounds from Xinematix into Soundbox, but it would be pretty much the same for any instrument or sample source. It's an interesting exercise. If you have both Xinematix and Audiolayer, I believe you can load up Xinematix instruments into Audiolayer and then get direct access to the samples and the mappings, and then use the export feature in Audiolayer to export out the samples for each key range and velocity range and get them into a folder. I've done it for instruments that I've created myself. The other way to get the samples out would be to load up Audiolayer and Xinematix in a host like AUM and use the Auto-sampling feature to generate a custom instrument in Audiolayer using your own choices of key ranges for each sample and varying velocity levels. Once you have a set of samples across a key range and velocity range, you can then import the samples into a custom preset in Soundbox (if you have it unlocked). It's actually pretty easy to do, if you know the tricks to navigating the preset editor in Soundbox. It might look something like the below when done. In this example, the key range is C2-B4, with samples space out 4 semitones each, and 3 velocity levels. Of course there are a number of fine points to this process, which I'm going to gloss over such as setting the levels correctly, shaping the samples and setting loop points and fade points, etc. but you can still get some rough version of the instrument created in Soundbox in this way.
So to sum up, @Gavinski has the correct answer. Is it possible to approximate importing the instrument in some very rough and dirty way? Yes. But mainly my point is that creating an instrument/preset in Soundbox is actually not that difficult if you have the right tools and little bit of knowledge, although making it sound really good and usable will probably require some expertise. Nevertheless, it's great fun to play around with and see what you can do. After some practice, I was able to import some samples that I created using Audiolayer and BeatHawk into Soundbox and create a custom preset in about 10 minutes.
Thank you so much for this detailed response, I've not used samplers at all except for included sounds and am pretty clueless about iOS filing systems tending to just use AUM file player to play back 'samples' I've just recorded. I do however have Audiolayer purchased in a sale, which like other too cheap to miss apps has been sadly neglected. Time to give it some love and my brain a workout, thanks again for your help. :-)
@EdZAB What does “select sound from midi” do inside the Soundbox sample tool window ? Does Soundbox have an auto sampler as yet ?
@Jumpercollins - To your first question, it's a good one. Let's see if anyone here has an answer - I do not. If not I'll inquire over at Audiomodern and see if I can find out. To the second question, there does not appear to be an auto sampler on the mobile version - if there is, it's hidden really well. I haven't used the desktop version very much yet, so can't speak to that.
Edit - Figured it out - the "Select sound from MIDI" will select one of the sound samples from the set above the keyboard when enabled. So when enabled, and a MIDI note is received or the built-in keyboard is used, it will highlight the sample based on the key and velocity, and the waveform and it's properties will appear in the upper half of the screen. When it is not enabled, the sample will play, but it will not be selected. I could see it being useful when you want to edit a sample without taking the chance that tapping on it might modify it by unintentional finger movement, for example (the pads are very responsive to adjustment).
Also, note that you can select multiple samples by tapping and dragging in a blank area and then move them around together, or collectively edit the properties of the whole set such as velocity range, root note and so forth, but you would not see anything in the waveform view.
