Yea this really looks like an amazing sound design tool for much more than DJ scratching.

Not sure if anyone asked this but what’s the max length of time for the audio you can record/import/etc…?

    3sec

    Let’s be real—that’s all I need.

    Hmm 3 seconds.

So if we use a tempo of 20 bpm, there’s exactly 1 beat in 3 seconds.

Or, at 60 bpm, that equates to 3 beats in 3 seconds.

    (I asked ChatGPT) :)

edit: isn’t it fascinating that the faster your music is = the more you can fit inside that 3 seconds?

I second the request an option to flip the deck so the turntable's on the right

I wonder if this is the first left-handed music app? 🤣

It’s still a lot of fun though. Very pleased you developed this @cem_olcay ! Something quite different for your Bud apps as well 👍

I was thinking about this... Even single turntable decks are typically centered around the turntable, right? Not a slam towards this plugin, just figuring out what felt off... Not that I'm an experienced DJ by any means, but I have messed around and this felt less... Natural(?) in terms of hand placement, but again, (goto: "Not Experienced DJ "bit)

(And THEN I was fantasizing about cem_olcay just adding a second turntable to the right, the possibilities that would bring... Aaaaand then what it would probably entail to actually add that and incorporate it into the current setup and my brain melted. And it feels too soon to make expansion requests such as this)

Keep up the dope work cem!!

Is there a manual somewhere? I guess I should check the in-app tutorial first of all

  • Question for anyone using this…I noticed in that video there’s a speed parameter. Is that the speed at which the loaded sample plays or is it something else?

That's exactly what it is, yes, and then the lfo has its own speed setting which will override that when the lfo is on.

  • Got it thank you!!

  • Is there a max sample size?

There’s no limit on the custom samples but 2-3 second samples are working the best for scratching, that’s why it’s limited to 3 seconds on the live input mode.

  • This is lots of fun, but isn’t there a way to control the playhead externally when using it as auv3? Map it to controller or have auv3 parameters exposed? All I see is using a note to control the x-fader

Also +1 for option to have the record on the right

'Playhead position' (similar to the "cue point" setting in the main UI) and 'scratch position' parameters are exposed

Can’t seem to map them on drambo… or AUM for that matter
most certainly user error. I will do more testing, thanks for clarifying that

Still no answers to how i can record this in LPX or midi cc for the crossfader and scratch dial/turntable or any sliders. I dont know how this will be useful? I cant record it? Somebody has to know how? Lots of praise.

Can someone please explain how to map those exposed parameters while hosting in AUM or drambo? It’s not that I don’t know how to do auv3 parameter mapping, it’s just that I don’t see the parameters exposed in any way
Tested on iphone14 and ipad9. Both still with ios17, could it be that I need to upgrade to 18?

will try later on an ios 15 ipad ,, but even after restart , delete - reinstall etc ... no joy for this one

  • @cem_olcay In AUM, when using Live Mode, cutoff=max, res=0, crossfader=all the way to the right > The Live sound is dull, ie high frequencies are missing - is this normal? Thanks

Hmm, you’re right, I didn’t notice that til now, it’s definitely dull and missing high frequencies. Stereo field seems narrower too. @cem_olcay thoughts?

Thanks for confirming @Gavinski 👍 nice to know my setup ain’t at fault. Also, the volume is lower too, so dull sound+lower volume - v.kool app still..💗

Ooorrr maybe there are two setups at fault? 😅

Yes, subjectively it sounds lower though I did notice it seemed to look the same on the dB meter. There's definitely something not right.

Is it not some sort of ‘vinyl colouration’?

Doesn’t say anything about it in the description, & imo doesn’t sound good at all..

Kinda feels like it’s either that, or some sort of compromise being made to allow the scratching to take place smoothly, low pass filter to get rid of the hard digital edges or something. I’m sure Cem will have an answer better than mine though 😅

Yes, it’s a pretty standard low pass filter, nothing fancy. It’s there for smoothing out the voice and shape a little bit. You can chain ScratchBud to a fancy filter though if it doesn’t work for you.
