In my original post, I said I already did that, there’s filtering going on that’s hidden, Cem’s reply isn’t clear if this can be completely disabled/not..

I was typing that and thinking a full open filter might still add some coloration, depending on the algorithm, but none would be totally clean. I get it, sorry for the unhelpful comment

  • I’m still trying to figure how to control the playhead via midi

Can someone please explain how to map those exposed parameters while hosting in AUM or drambo? It’s not that I don’t know how to do auv3 parameter mapping, it’s just that I don’t see the parameters exposed in any way
Tested on iphone14 and ipad9. Both still with ios17, could it be that I need to upgrade to 18?

Any reason why you're not using Flexi instead, if you already have Drambo?
You'll get much better MIDI controller support as well, including those common DJ style controllers with hardware scratch wheels, faders and crossfader, sample pads etc.

You can’t disable in the current version but I can add the option on the next version 👍

Yeah ok, but although I’m 99% drambo, I might want to try other apps occasionally 😂
I’ve tried those great ideas of yours with drambo, too. Lots of times

Please work on the turntable side switch option 🙏. Feels unnatural for me and I suspect many people.

  • This looks like @cem_olcay's most fully realized UI. I wish the older buds would get some of this love. Did you somehow manage to extract a Loopy asset?

lol no - but I’ve been working with a UI designer since FuncBud. FuncBud, Note to Be, Harmonicc, ScratchBud and the future apps!

Definitely please add that option, I'd like to keep things hi-fi, cheers Cem

    edit: The app is live!
    https://apps.apple.com/us/app/scratchbud-vinyl-scratching-fx/id6738416965

Hi everyone, I've been working on this scratch plugin for a while and it's became a super fun app that is coming very very soon!

You can scratch a sample or the live input. Load your own sample or use the included classics, 'aaah' or 'fresh' samples. The live mode lets you record the audio input up to 3 seconds and scratch over.

With the crossfader, you can cut the scratch sound and play realistic scratch effects like on a turntable. You can change the crossfader behavior and just tap it to open/close it quickly like a hardware crossfader. You can also trigger it with MIDI and use sequencers.

The built-in LFO lets you scratch a part automatically for you. You can set the speed, waveform, amount and the start point of the LFO. When the sync mode is active, you can lock it to the DAW's tempo and use the speed fader as a clock divider/multiplier.

You can shape the scratch sound even further with the low pass filter's cutoff and resonance parameters.

All parameters are AU controllable, so feel free to use a MIDI sequencer or record/automate on your DAW.

It can also work as standalone app and use the mic input on the live mode, if you'd like to scratch your own voice.

It's my first FX app and I'm super happy with it. I hope you'll like it too. I've been beta testing it over a week and got really good feedbacks. It's been submitted and will be live very soon, in a day or two most likely.

OMG!!! I've been waiting for this for AAAAAAaaaaages !
You can't believe how happy I am right now

  • @cem_olcay do you think a right handed option is going to be doable? So deck on the right and fader on the left? Thanks!

Oh! Quick heads up! Make the window into portrait and the turntable is at the top and the controls are underneath!

(Special thanks to @LiveLoopers for having it set like that in their most recent yt vid featuring ScratchBud)

Here’s the vid for those curious

Impressed by the speed of that update. Nice!

Loving it so far. Got my mixfader coming today, so I will update once I have had time to check compatibility etc.

Edit: I do have 3 future feature requests.
    1. vinyl sensitivity editing for 2 handed scratching etc.
    2. Optimisation for longer samples
    3. Customisable cue trigger buttons

Unfortunately disabling the lpf doesn’t do anything (still muffled sound+low volume), also like @Gavinski said previously, it narrows the stereo field too. This can be seen by putting Pro-Q3 or anything that has a spectrum analyser after ScratchBud (in live mode) & bypassing it/turning it on+off. Or you could just move the crossfader from right to left to hear it too.

Crossfader mixes the fx output and the source input. Of course the sound changes when it’s in the middle because both of the signals get mixed.

I’m talking about either all the way left or right, not how the sound changes as you move between those 2 positions

I haven't tried the new version yet, but I assume he meant to notice the difference between the input sound vs the Scratchbud recording by switching the slider from extreme left to extreme right. The recording did indeed sound narrower in the old version, it didn't seem like that was a filter issue.

Yep. Also, I’m talking about not doing any scratching, both positions should sound the same

I understand, you are talking about the recording quality then. I can make some improvements on that!

Yes, so both positions should sound the same, that’d be perfect! 👍

  • @cem_olcay wow!! Thank you SO much for creating this amazing app! Finally someone did it!! It’s super FUN!

Like most of these folks I’ve tried to make something in loopy with rate change with some decent results, nothing near as good as Scratchbud!

It’s still just alittle glitchy as an AU in AUM.. here are some of the “glitches” I’ve found

    • load presets in AUM (it seems loading bigger files will cause the app to crash, maybe only enable smaller files?)
    • Crossfader midi mapping doesn’t follow ON screen (also glitches out if mapped to a toggle/ button)
    • Play position midi mapping.. at value 127 (or 0) will sometimes cause the play head to spin continuously

    And my feature request

    • add CUE “mark” ( ability to mark CUE position while in play, along with midi mapping for both “cue” and “mark cue”)
    • Horizontal and vertical scratch table (choice between donut/ vertical/ horizontal)
    • vinyl flick or the ability to reverse or flick forward the whole sample (depending on speed of flick)
    • enable a pitchwheel for scratching 🤌.. might be impossible but it would be amazing!

Is there a discord group? I’d love to join

  • Ok, I figured out the problem, the live recording and playback qualities improved a LOT now! I'll release the new update very soon.
