  • Nice to get nested Wavetable folders!

Yep, or as Master FX. They can't be used as IFX on an individual part. I expect this is to help save users from themselves rather than a technical limitation (eg. trying to load 48 AuV3 FX apps and wrecking things).

Thanks for the clarification. Built-in FX seems pretty good, but that's quite a limitation.

    hi,
sorry if this has been asked already - didn't have much luck with the forum search; but it seems Iconica Sketch isn't working with GR-2 ?

someone reported the same issue on the steinberg forum

    yep same here

Excellent update! 👍 The best got better.

So does this mean that AU FX are now supported as inserts? Because yeah that's a big limitation right now.

    Nice, re wavetable folder support.

  • Genius update!

Couldn't resist and bought it yesterday. So far so good, seems like perfect blend between DAW, groovebox and performance surface. The only thing it's me being stupid or auv3 fx can only be used only on sends? I'm thinking about granulators like Silo, BeatCutter, Scatterbrain and similar stuff

Not sure anyone needs saving. This is a major omission for me as it’s a big part of each tracks overarching sound design. Hopefully the decision gets revisited.

  • Is there a manual available anywhere? I’m curious about this one but want to learn more about some specific functionality before I purchase.

It says 16 voice poly, is that per part or globally for instance?

As far as I know the manual is being worked on.
It's 16 voices (which can include dual oscillator layers only using up one voice) per layer, stack 3 layers per part with 16 voices each and multiply that by 16...

  • How can I reset the recorded automation to mfx? I wrote it down, but it's not clear how to remove it. It is not displayed in editing mode.

  • i’m at work. has anybody checked if Iconica Sketch is working in the update?

All MFX automation is recorded to the Master Track, select the Master Track in the song view and tap on the automation thing top left and delete all automation.

Short answer, no. It loads but you can’t record or playback sequences and none of the GR-2 keys, chords, or triggers work.

Just came to ask the same thing, seems like clever solution. Thanks for a tip, Samu!

  • Hopefully, support for launching a clip from the controller will appear soon.

  • Now I’m wanting IFX reverb for the synths 😂

    added two new Part output destination options - FX A and FX B. Now you can route any Part's output directly to the > FX A orFX B bus to use its effect slots as inserts;

I guess this confirms that AUv3 fx will not be available on IFX in Jim’s vision. This is as close as we’ll get…
Would be good if the 3 fx in each send could be used in parallel rather than serial (or can they? Can’t remember - i know the IFX can be parallel)

All good, glad he’s added this flexibility at least

So is there a benefit vs. using Send A|B? It is not obvious to me.

It's a compromise. It allows you to use the Sends as though they are inserts. Far from as good as just allowing AUFX as inserts, but useful all the same.

Hopefully it's just a quick way of giving some AUFX insert capability while a full solution is worked on. Or maybe that's as good as it's going to get. We'll have wait to see.

    New update is out

Pattern Bank import still does not work. Patterns have to be imported 1 at a time.

  • Ok, a noob question. Is it possible to get Octachron patterns imported to a drum rack layer or is midi printing only available for those "melodic" layers/parts?

  • Hard to sort out if this has been asked but - is there a manual yet for Groove Rider 2? I am specifically trying to figure out how to use a pad controller to trigger drums in a drum rack. The default mapping does not make sense.

I tried and failed at this too, I think they are maybe mapped to GM drums. It would be really useful to be able to use my own mapping

It’s currently not possible. You can't import MIDI and you can’t put a midi AU fx in front of a drum rack layer to print midi.

I used Octachron standalone and connected it with ableton link to GR2, that works pretty well to record a sequence!

  • Wish we had the manual. I haven't quite figured out warping yet. 😂 Nor resampling output into a sampler. The latter would be quite useful for generating oneshots from plugins. This way I can load patterns faster when I inevitably DJ an EP together.

You did this with a GR-2 drum rack? And you’re able to print external midi? I don’t think either of these are possible. At least I haven’t been able to make it work. Just tried.
