  • Can you record in midi to the piano roll using midi fx ?

  • How is loop samples? Is it precisely tempo synced? Or you have to set with timestretch?

First impression: Everything feels so smooth and well thought out. So many clever small details like a standard transpose knob for midi fx. Amazing implementation of performance fx. The wavetable synth is massive.

Some things I have not figured out yet. There seems to be no parameter locks. Not sure what the sequencer is actually capable of yet. Also, I found no way to record the generated notes of midi fx and I have not found the manual yet.

Sample folder import from dropbox lead to a freeze for me.

Just to add to this post, some bugs I encountered:

Had a few crashes, for example when just loading a preset drumrack or when I accidentally started Siri.
The notes (octaves) naming in the step sequencer doesn't correspond to the keyboard when scale lock is active. So the octave shown in the clip keyboard is actually way higher than the octave shown in the step sequencer.

    And some other observations:

Auv3 multiout doesn't seem to be supported.
Not sure what the "midi out" in auv3 layer does, I was not able to record any midi from auv3s into a clip.
There is no way to change the predefined mapping of knobs in the auv3 layer UI, but the parameters of the actual auv3 are automatable, which is very cool.

  • What a killer app

  • So no auto save if you close down the app. Remember to save projects ! Just found out to my cost!

Can you copy and paste in pianoroll ? I’m only seeing a pen, select all and a roller, eraser, speaker ?

  • The built in synth has a very Roland Juno vibe to it. Try nice indeed.

  • Anyone recommend some decent soundfont libraries to use with this apart from the default built in? Is it easy enough to load the SF in?

  • what.a.(self-containded).monster

  • Oh man, this warp setting is great!

Yes, Check the little menu next to the quantize button when you've got something selected.

Wow!! $50 in Canada....no thanks!! It was just $29 the other day I believe and it still says "coming soon" !

Yikes. That would be an even bigger change than in Poland, where the price went up by 1/3 from 150pln to 200.. apple must have some weird conversion rates because in the US it changed only by 1/6 and in the euro countries by 1/7 of the preorder price.

Not a fan of preordering software myself without a proper demo, an in-depth video presentation or at least a manual. Learned it the hard way and it really saves a lot of headaches, so I'm still waiting for the initial bugs to be ironed out and at least I'll have some video to properly show the functionality of this app before I make a final decision.

Is there no way to send the LFO to AU parameters?

  • If you select Chromatic scale, then switch to “Normal Mode” the piano keys at the left go wonky.

  • Can someone check to see if sample slices can be played back chromatically, like in Koala?

  • Loving the app so far!

Couple questions - has anyone figured out how to record midi (from Pure Acid for example - I saw the 'midi out' in the macros so assuming it's possible) into the piano roll?

How to clear an automation from a single knob?

Seems like no way for a midi Auv3 to target other tracks?

  • anyone found use for the shift button.?

  • Ok had my first crash trying to import a soundfont one worked but second one I tried crashed the app. No big deal.

Holding down shift while adjusting knobs gives a finer resolution.
When you have a selection of notes in the piano roll present holding down shift while adjusting the note velocity ramps the velocity values.

You can also hold down shift and double-tap a knob to enable midi-learn.

Until the manual eventually drops the best way to find out what it does is to try on things where it might make sense to have an alternate function.

  • Strange, did not get a notification pre order available for download. The app was listed at 34.99 in the App Store, I went to click on it, and downloaded at the 29.99 pre order price.

  • No joy sample audio using Koala. Anyone else got that to work?

The only way you could do that is to load it on a send fx bus or on the master fx bus. Koala has to be loaded as an FX to record, and you can’t put AUv3 FX on a track insert.

I tried on Send A and the Master, and it did record.

  • @Samu Can you record into the piano roll using Midi FX as yet ?

How can i replace a AUv3 synth without deleting the layer?

  • Anyone having any luck with importing sample folders? Only seem to be able to bring in individual samples successfully.

in what sense may i ask? totally different structure and no sub osc as far as i can see 🤔 The problem i had with poison in the past was, that it had a very digital sound. Sure, it did not try to be a VA but i hope the internal VA sounds a bit better in this regard now.

I bought too many apps in january but i‘m chilled to wait a little longer before i purchase GR2.

Don't know but you won't loose any of the IFX settings, note-data etc. when you delete a layer since they are part of the 'Part'.

For now using the Files.app is the only option I know of for doing 'batch import'.
Copy the desired folder(s) into the GRII sub-folders (Samples, SoundFonts and WAveTables) using Files.app.
