    Not ... impressed

    swiftly runs away 🏃💨

😂 Well, I did cancel my preorder a few days ago due to needing to allocate money towards bills (gas, groceries, etc). However, from what I've read, too many bugs for me to consider purchasing it at this time. I'll consider purchasing once GR-II is more stable. (Then again, Cubasis 3 was also super unstable upon its initial release, and I inevitably purchased that, so it's not a "no" from me. It's more of a "wait and see" situation.) GR-II does look fun however.

I had one crash at the beginning. Installed the latest OS and have been using it the rest of the day without issue. It’s an absolutely amazing app.

It's related to the OS, mate? I do have iOS 18. Hopefully when I inevitably purchase GR-II, it'll run smoothly.

  • Apologies if this has been covered already, but does anyone know if GR16 projects can be opened on GR2?
I suspect not, but worth asking 🙏

Installed it on my old 7th Gen IPad (2019) demo songs barely touch the cpu. What a great app. CPU goes up a little when using the real time fx, but to have such a neat groove box on a small, now cheap iPad is great. Also have an M1 Pro, but have been happy making tracks on the old one haha. Also the old one has a aux for wired headphones, what a great portable groove box. Massive respect JIM

Interested in knowing how you fare over time. I avoided the preorder due to not being sure how the iPad 7 would compare to the recommended 2nd gen iPad Pro.

Is anyone experiencing UI glitches? I’ve tried different FPS settings but it doesn’t make any difference. I’m on an M1 iPad.

Same here. M2 iPad. Trying the other suggestions that others have mentioned do not work.

Time to make a video and rage complain. (Sarcasm)

  • Here is a video on how to use the excellent built in synth and how to save custom layer presets and also how to save custom part presets.
You can then use your own presets in other projects.

  • Thanks Doug

For me, it only happens when a physical keyboard is attached. Bluetooth, wired, Magic Keyboard act all the same. When I detach my Magic Keyboard the UI glitches go away. I’ve sent a bug report.

A very fun and well-made video. Okay, I think I'm finally off the fence about GR-II and will get it as soon as I can. Seems to be stable on iOS 18.3 according to a couple users.

Yep, GR16 patterns can be opened in GR2

  • @HighlandSpring said:
See with the loading of samples / folders into it, does that mean all my samples are duplicated, doubling space taken on HD?

Because of the way the Apple File System works, that won't actually take up more physical storage on your device.
    https://abwiki.loopypro.com/doku.php?id=file_storage

If I load a folder from my files into the app can I then delete the original folder in files so as to not have double space taken?

You can do that, but you don't need to, and it won't make any difference in the actual storage size. (see above)

iPad 9th gen.: Very modest CPU usage (running the factory patterns) and excellent UI experience. Great app and not regretting the purchase. I only would love to have a text search for AUv3 plugins to avoid scrolling the list.

Yeh. Also, I really don't like plugins sorted by developer. Then I have to remember two things - the developer company name and the plugin name.

    No Ableton link ?!!

Ableton link is in the options, but it won't connect to anything

Check that you enabled Network permissions. My guess is you answered no when the app first asked to be able to find devices on your local network. Check that Device Settings > Groove Rider 2 > Local Network is enabled. Also be sure that Background Play is On in GR-2 Audio Settings.

Is there any way of selecting parts using the pads but not Trigger them? I find that easier than scrolling using the part selector, but I don't want the pads to play when I do that.

Thanks for reporting the bug. It’s also occurring on my iPad mini 6 gen.

  • It seems like it is not possible to put a Midi FX AU in front of a drum kit part. Am I missing it somewhere?

Then I tried with AUM hosting GR-2 IAA and routing midi to the drum kit part, using Drum Computer AU in AUM as the midi source. It plays the drum kit just fine but when I try to record the midi in Gr-2, it doesn’t get recorded in the part clip or in song mode.

Any ideas on how to record midi fx into a drum kit part piano roll?

  • What kind of an performance app doesn't have a tempo control right on the main screen? An crowded UI one I suppose, but where it's located is a really odd choice to me.

I like the app and the UI is beautiful, but some of the design choices for where to control things are seem a bit odd and cumbersome.

Wow!! $50 in Canada....no thanks!! It was just $29 the other day I believe and it still says "coming soon" !

Yikes. That would be an even bigger change than in Poland, where the price went up by 1/3 from 150pln to 200.. apple must have some weird conversion rates because in the US it changed only by 1/6 and in the euro countries by 1/7 of the preorder price.

Not a fan of preordering software myself without a proper demo, an in-depth video presentation or at least a manual. Learned it the hard way and it really saves a lot of headaches, so I'm still waiting for the initial bugs to be ironed out and at least I'll have some video to properly show the functionality of this app before I make a final decision.

Went up by 1/5 in Australia but the preorder was already a steep 50. But it's an incredible app so I don't feel it's overpriced. Still, FUA (A is for Apple).

  • So, what's the latest regarding a manual?

I'm curious as to this too. Would clear up a lot of confusion. I just want to rtfm. 😂

One feature I haven’t seen in any other app is smooth transition of projects and A/B mixing them live even when the projects have AU instruments. It loads the new project in the background first then you decide when to switch to it. This is something I’ve been looking for in a groovebox which supports AUs for a long time. I wish Drambo gets smooth project transitions.

This allows for playing full live DJ sets all within GR 2. It’s a killer feature!!!

I’ve could be wrong but maybe holding shift while selecting a pad?

I agree with this. I was never one for live production outside of Ambient in AUM in 2022 (most of which sucked 😂), but I may try to do a short live EP. :)

I just tried but the sound still comes out. It used to be if you held the changing part arrow down while clicking another part would change to the new part without triggering it. That doesn’t work in gr 2.

Nope - that's the first thing I tried.
I thought that's the way it worked in GR-16 but not there either.
Not a huge big deal, but would be nice.

Insert FX per Drumkit part would be nice. Who generally wants all the same FX on a whole kit??
