I did state above and over the many years I’ve been a forum member, I warned about the late stage crisis of the capitalist system. It has been that way for quite a number of US administrations, with the Trump administration mask’s are off, you see the inner workings more clearly, if you care to observe.
Check my post above ending, Welcome to the Feudal Technocracy.
Eisenhower, Marx, Smith all sounded the alarm bells.
Playing identity politics really misses the real agenda.
That’s Trump being Trump.
He didn’t I don’t believe, what he has said was Putin was provoked.
He’s owned by the lobby, along with nearly all the US politicians, they’re not willingly going to give up their own kickbacks from that deal they authorise.
Don’t you think asking to own Gaza is a quid quo pro? Trump is a sucker for beach front properties so he can do the one thing he does that seems like a job: designing golf courses.
What developer of any significance is reluctant to evict tenants to start clearing up the old structures to allow construction to start.
He tried this stupid gambit with North Korea on his first term. Now he has that US Check to make Trump Inc. a government program that coughs up the funds to make his wet dreams of global dominance complete.
I thought he was making a joke when he said that.
Like "we're going to build a big, beautiful wall and Mexico is going to pay for it".
@Simon : Trump s not kidding about wanting the U.S. to expel Gazans and develop Gaza into a resort city.
Trump does not have a sense of humor.
When he said he wanted the US to own Gaza and build a resort I initially thought he's kidding but watching videos of him talking about it I am not really sure. It is such a totally unworkable, crackpot idea.
Unlike "building the wall" (which would be difficult & expensive but possible) the Gaza idea, owning Greenland, making Canada a US state are all fantasyland notions. Is Trump showing signs of mild dementia?
Unlike Biden he doesn't fall over or lose his train of thought mid-sentence but the concepts he puts forward are a joke.
Has the USA replaced one ancient President who is mentally "losing it" with another suffering the same problem?

True, but I don’t think Musk can reason beyond that. He has someone condensing Yarvin’s garbage down to highlights for him.
Is Trump showing signs of mild dementia?
Yes, during the campaign he got a few people mixed up and within the press conference with Zelensky he repeatedly referred to rare earth minerals as raw earth unless that’s his strange way of pronunciation.
Yes he floats ideas which are completely insane, which offer absurd distractions. With perhaps purpose.
Ugh! Now they are establishing some sort of crypto reserve. This seems primarily like a mechanism to prop up the value of Trump and Musk’s crypto holdings. Seems like a recipe for disaster.
Didn’t go well for Milei’s investors.
I wouldn’t take anything this hack states as fact.

Regardless of Trump’s cognitive health, he is ignoring the Constitution he has sworn to uphold. He is full-on trying to implement the Project 2025 agenda — despite denying he would do that during the election season.
He has allowed Elon Musk to be a wrecking ball.
He is putting in motion actions that will increase unemployment and inflation, severely hamper public health, curtail valuable scientific research , set back civil rights and education. He has already made a lot of progress in politicizing institutions and positions that are best left non-partisan.
It is hard to capture how bad things might get if the courts or his own party don’t decide to stand up for the constitution and the rule of law.
If you haven’t read up on Curtis Yarvin, read up. His is the vision of America, Trump and Musk are pursuing.
Trump may have some health problems but I'm sure he'll be fine. He's got Bobby to give him expert medical advice...
Funny thing, RFK jr has never been litigated for deformation by Mr Gates who he criticises numerous times within his book, maybe Mr Gates is running low on cash after giving it away.

Stopping Government waste is a good thing.
Getting Musk to do it is not.
In 12 months or so when people really examine what Musk and DOGE have done the verdict will not be good. It will reflect badly on Trump and so he'll blame Elon and that's when they will have a falling out. Just like all of the Trump associates he fell out with and fired in his first term...
Musk is indiscriminately firing people. There is no analysis going on as to what is wasteful. He is doing long-term damage.
I would have started more closer to home, CIA and the MIC, scatter it to the winds.
If you look at the US Budget you can see that closing down Govt. departments is only going to have a tiny effect.
The big items (roughly 80% of the budget) are:
Number 5 can't be changed, and no politician Dem or Rep (including Trump) is prepared to reduce the first 4 items.
The $36 trillion debt is a real problem. It went from $35 trillion to 36 in just 115 days last year.
The US has been living above it's means for a very long time and it is a very serious problem.
Mask, his chainsaw, and DOGE are a PR stunt to make it look like Trump is fixing things. What Musk is doing may be damaging and moronic but as far as fixing the economy it is a drop in the ocean compared to the real economic problems the US faces.
On October 27, 2024 Musk said he could save "at least $2 trillion dollars". Let's see what the real figure is.
But they are not doing that. Nobody, including Trump, has the guts to touch items 1,2,3,4.
Item 5 is fxed interest on debt. No unnecessary spending or fraud there.
Never been done before? Not true.
Ever heard of the Government Accountability Office? Or the Congressional Budget Office? They don't get much press because they don't have a billionaire egomaniaic brandishing a chainsaw running them, but they look at how to save money.
The CBO made 7 suggestions to reduce the deficit but they all involved cutting America's 3 federal entitlement programs. No action by politicians.
The GAO made 5,480 recommendations that were not done. Their MediCare recommendation alone would save $141bn. No action by politicians.
America has been living way above it's means and fixing that is going to involve a huge amount of pain and no politician, including Trump, has the guts to inflict that on their voters.
Musk said on Twitter/X "we believe non-existent people or the identities of dead people are being used to collect paychecks. In other words, there is outright fraud,”.
Has he named a single instance of this?
If this is happening why isn't the Government arresting those committing fraud?
Or did Elon just make it up? In other words, an outright lie.
There was an interesting press briefing where the numbers of people in different age brackets in the Social Security roles were read off. If the numbers can believed there were millions of people over the age of 120 on the books.
Those numbers are so way too high that I don't believe for a minute checks are going out to them, but those are the kinds of areas that do badly need to be looked into and at least cleaned up.
Just because the problems is overwhelming, doesn't mean nothing should be done. Argue all you want about how it's being done, but just looking the other way isn't an option. If we keep increasing the debt and printing money we're done. Sooner or later we'll hit the wall and that's when the pain will really begin. We're not far off.
I don't agree that 1 through 4 are untouchable. I'm sure there's enough waste and fraud in all of those that could be found and eliminated without cutting valid spending. Probably not enough, but it's at least something.
I'm not defending how things are being done. Far from it. But absolutely something has to be done. The pity is the momentum and opportunity is being squandered by throwing the wrong people at it. F*ck it up bad enough and no one will ever try again.
DOGE is simply cutting spending the richest man in the world has decided is unnecessary. The notion that he is an expert on what spending is necessary or beneficial seems questionable at best.
You're not wrong.
Totally the wrong guy for the job.
He has the job because he donated a huge amount of money to Trump's campaign.
Trump is playing him - what it all goes wrong Trump will blame Elon and say "I trusted him and he let me & the American people down".
You are correct - they are on the database but no money is being paid to them.
A few days ago Trump addressed Congress:
""Believe it or not, government databases list 4.7 million Social Security members from people aged 100 to 109 years old. It lists 3.6 million people from ages 110 to 119. I don't know any of them. I know some people who are rather elderly but not quite that elderly. 3.47 million people from ages 120 to 129. 3.9 million people from ages 130 to 139. 3.5 million people from ages 140 to 149. And money is being paid to many of them, and we are searching right now.… 1.3 million people from ages 150 to 159, and over 130,000 people, according to the Social Security databases, are age over 160 years old."
Trump says that government databases list these people, which is true, and "money is being paid to many of them," which is not true.
Social Security’s acting commissioner, Lee Dudek, acknowledged recent reporting about the number of people older than age 100 who may be receiving benefits from Social Security. “The reported data are people in our records with a Social Security number who do not have a date of death associated with their record. These individuals are not necessarily receiving benefits.”
Trump is conflating "not marked as dead in a database" with "receiving benefits" for dramatic effect and political gain.
On Tuesday night Trump said:
""In the near future, I want to do what has not been done in 24 years: balance the federal budget. We are going to balance it,"
How do you know that?
(emphasis mine)
No argument there.
But also where there is smoke there is usually fire. Certainly not a large percentage, but I would seriously doubt none. Giving government the benefit of the doubt is a huge mistake.
