Not saying anyone is right of wrong (including myself!), but I'm amazed at how different all of our "truth" is. Makes me wonder if the only info out there is narrative being sold to us. :(

I try to look at a variety of news sources. I know that Fox will praise Trump no matter how bad he acts. And The Guardian will always knock him. Get both sides of the story and make up your own mind.

And you don't have to decide that "Trump is great" or "Trump is awful". You can go with "he's good on some things but others not so good".

You can find a lot wrong with Trump but also Biden. No administration is perfect.

Those sources are both the different sides of the same coin, that are mostly propaganda outlets. The MSM are the greatest purveyors of misinformation.

I can understand that method. I think it might be all we have to try and get to the truth.

I don't think there is a "truth" as such.

If the media reports that Trump wants to build a wall then, yes, that is true - he does want to build a wall.

How they report it is the key thing: is it presented as a crazy idea or a good idea. Is it presented as "protecting the US" or is it "racist madness"?

One of my problems with Trump is when you fact check a lot of what he says it is not correct. He plucks numbers from thin air to drive home his point. When you are having a talk with your friends at the bar this is ok, but when you are a world leader you have to be careful what you say and make sure you are stating facts (e.g. his numbers about dollars spent on Ukraine are way off). You owe it to the public to be accurate.

But I’m not sure that truth can be found in me filtering out falsities from narratives (which I think is what watching multiple sources and making up our own minds is, basically). Or if my “filter” is not just producing another narrative. There’s always some bias (or resonance :) ) in our filters.

I guess that's our only option, try to keep our cutoff and resonance knobs set to try and get the best output signal :)

    Well said. 👏

Whether you like or hate or are just confused by the guy, it's plain that if he would just shut his mouth it would be a vast improvement.

Welcome to conspiracy theory world, sadly the phrase was demeaned, a few decades ago to ridicule speculation regarding the conspired murder of JFK, if only you hadn’t barricaded yourself behind partisan rhetoric, you would have noticed that all those ‘illegal’ mechanisms of power that Musk now uses were enabled over many administrations of ‘different’ parties, in effect you could say they were the two sides of the same coin. Created to divide the populace. All the born fruit of the MIC, corporations, oligarchs, check those names for their links to the deep state, others appear on the opposing team too, all seek power for themselves just using party politics as the vehicle.

Somehow I don't think it requires much skill to sway the faithful.

That's not who he's playing to anyway. Enraging your enemy to distract them while you slip in sucker punches is a tried and true tactic. Ask John McClane or Bugs Bunny if you don't believe me.

It'd be kind of funny to watch if it wasn't making a whole nation look idiotically insane. (Not that we didn't look just as bad in a different but equally scary way under the previous administration.)

There is such a thing as truth, but is there absolute certainty, no, only a very high degree of certainty.

If the media reports that Trump wants to build a wall then, yes, that is true - he does want to build a wall.

This is the truth without determining what the wall physically is.

How they report it is the key thing: is it presented as a crazy idea or a good idea. Is it presented as "protecting the US" or is it "racist madness"?

These are the possible motivations for building the wall and counter arguments.

Trump plays the anti-politician, he thrives in this role, the media thrive from it too, Trump lives by what he knows, that of deal making, when haggling a deal often an absurd suggestion is used to start your position.

But aside from the media misinformation, what they don’t report is more important than the propaganda that is repeated over and over, to create a ‘truth’.

Meanwhile those lovely bunch of terrorist that the West backed in Syria are on a mass murder spree, you know HTS, formerly know as ISIS and so on going back to the British creation the Muslim Brotherhood.

They’re targeting Alawite and Christian civilians.

We chose only the finest puppets.

    Here’s one report of many.

You’ll also note the Head-Chopper-President has changed his name yet again, but remains the same terrorist all those Western politicians went to meet and greet.

You should be more concerned about the fact de-banking has been legalised and the attack on the CFPB, that’s how they’ll control the rebellious, as they move to digital currency.

    Simon,

The media is so bad in the USA, I have to watch Aljazeera for unbiased news. LOL. But I love DOGE. Screw soft power. America isn’t GOD’s Cop nor should it be. I hope this is the begining of another isolationist period because….every time we have ‘helped’ the world you get more PAX AMERICANA instead. America needs to mind it’s own business and stay out of the world’s shite. Now, Panama, Greenland, Gulf of Mexico (re name the Gulf and you have to re negotiate drilling rights), a lot of that is fluff with no substance, shock and awe…to confuse the media. ‘What’s real and what’s BS type of thing. BUT in the end this too shall pass. And let me state something else. He shut down the border in less than thirty days. No president has been capable of that. Illegal immigration into the USA isn’t a sustainable situation (no good). That’s not me, that’s from an older quote from an interview with Obama. One more rumor is the CIA drone flights into Mexico. Hence Mexico rounding up 30 cartel leaders last week and flying them to the USA to appease the Trump Administration. Strange days we live in.

I do agree with one thing with Musk and Vance, the UK anti hate speech laws are Orwellian, Period.

And what Simon said. Some of what any admin does is good or bad, never perfect.

Thanks for the local perspective. Very interesting.

It concerns me that the President thinks it is a good idea to "confuse the media". Why do that? The media is there to report back to citizens - why confuse them?

    Simon,

The media will latch on to the most ludicrous things Trump says and while they are talking about his mouth while the administration moves on with their business. Since the average American has a short attention span and our media is a reflection of that…he is constantly barraging them with fodder. This strategy is actually Steve Bannon’s.

So, do you think the US should close all of it's military bases around the world? They have a few.
