Have you considered, rather than just having a stepped random modulator, having a modulation sequencer as is found in many Sugar Bytes apps and in Bleass apps?
That would probably offer the greatest amount of flexibility and creative possibilities for an additional modulation source. Give it a random mode and you still have your stepped random modulator.
Fair enough ... might want to use the 2nd ADSR for something else though.
As someone who has used Soundbox, Salome, SampleWiz and pretty much any other ios sampler, Outgrowth is currently holding my #1 spot in that department. Its simultaneously comprehensive and easy to use, which is no small feat. I think its worth having in your arsenal even if you own the aforementioned apps
Can someone clarify something for me as I watch through the excellent videos on the different engines: the Reflect engine seems to be doing the same as the ‘pitch length compensation’ feature in Erik Sigth’s e-l-s-a? Would that be a fair assessment?
yes, though sound character differs. i like both. outgrowths reflect engine sounds more synthetic to my ear. the adsr on outgrowth functions in a manner you would expect, like a synth. e-l-s-a adsr does not. outgrowths adsr allows manipulation of the sample with the sliders labelled 'start point', and 'time/length', in ways that are very different than e-l-s-a. different ways of working, different sound, different results, different fun.
Thanks @frond, extremely helpful description. Cheers.
Here's a 2nd video I post for Outgrowth (the first was the desktop version).

This one also includes some presets runthrough with a guitar recording I did for it.
I was on the record a few days ago, if this feature is added, I will buy. While I generally subscribe to the theory, do not buy based on a future enhancement, it's a theory and I am not a fan of theory. I am a fan of the now and reality. The reality is the tools that we have been provided by the dev are FAF (fun as f) and allow me to play. My reality is to play more. Plus when I look at the cost savings vs hardware gear, I shut my pie hole and instabuy.
To the dev, thank you. I was led a stray from what matters.
Merry Funmas!
@aqeelaadam Does the LFO at 100% not sweep the entire range of Start?
Enjoying outgrowth, lovely granular sampler. Bought it because MPE compatibility, I’m using it now with the seaboard, but can’t find where to assign MPE slide, just can see pressure in the modulations section. Tried with CC74 but that’s monophonic not MPE. Is slide not implemented? Are you planing to add it in an update @aqeelaadam ?
Seems to, if you set the start point on the slider to 0%.
I mentioned this in my video and to Aqeel, it seems to be an oversight, hopefully will get added as it's needed for sure
Thanks Gav ! 🙏🏻
Just got my Seaboard M today and hoping that full MPE implementation is in the works!
Finally made my decision and bought this yesterday. Very pleased I did, excellent app.
I haven’t watched all of the videos related to it yet so I guess it’s mentioned, but a nice surprise I wasn’t really aware of is the sample scanning mode which allows automatable scanning/crossfading between multiple loaded samples. Lots of nice possibilities with that. Automate the scanning with velocity and you have velocity layering if that’s what you want which, unless I’ve missed it, isn’t possible to set up by other means.
Ah, you're right. It didn't occur to me that the lfo was positive-bias.
Checking out some presets from DMT Cymatics' new Outgrowth expansion pack

@aqeelaadam are you aware of these two pretty annoying bugs?
1) every time I load up a project in Logic, the app is loaded with the correct preset but without samples loaded. It is a user preset that I made
2) if you change preset while the modulation page is open, the modulation page parameters don’t change
Also, when importing samples, the “pitch recogniser” is sometimes wrong (wrong octave) and I had an hard time pitching it down one octave because the note I wanted wasn’t in the “available options” of notes which I could choose. Not sure I explained this correctly, but I can explain better and with examples if needed.
.
I don't know about the first 2 problems there, but I reported the other pitch recognition problem to Aqeel and he's looking into that already. I also reported problems with mpe pressure modulation parameters not being recalled properly when loading presets.
Thanks! I was planning to play with MPE but I didn’t yet, so it’s good to know that there are open issues.

Yes, another issue with mpe is that it currently only supports mpe pressure, not mpe cc74, which it really, really should. Would be good if note off velocity was added as an mpe mod source too tbh, but cc74 is essential imo
Thank you. I used the contact form on the website (and also mentioned cc74 would be very important to have since he already supports MPE @Gavinski).
Hey folks, just pushed out a new update that addresses some of the biggest concerns from release:
Received! We are planning a January update to address the remaining issues discovered from launch.
Trivial… but from a design perspective, I wish the 2 logos at bottom right could just be on an info screen or more discreet/subtle.
Missed the intro pricing - really digging the output I’ve seen from the users sharing their experiences.
Everything seems to work with the Pencil now so far - thanks @aqeelaadam.
By the way... I was on the fence... I think that SoundBox (unlocked) is more my jam... but this one has stuff that I like and can definitely be used for cool/weird stuff too. And, it works fine on iPhone. Looking forward to hopefully being able to record samples directly into it
I think that’s key for my workflow really, transforming the app from a sample player (or ‘sample based instrument’), into a full-blown sampler - bypassing the need to record and save audio in a separate app before importing it into this one.
It’s good (despite the lack of timestreching), but I’ll use it a whole lot more when I can record in.
