Need to see a video demo, to understand this one better, could then be a saturday night treat.
I just want a way to record multitrack performances... but I suppose that likely won't happen... ...
Where's the Sounds For More ?
Is an export to drambo planned?
Can you change out instruments audio nodes ie replace or do you have to delete one then add what you want ? I’m aware there’s a track limit.
Certainly agree that export MIDI would be really useful for taking things further elsewhere.
I saw on the Beepstreet forum that Giku liked the idea of an export to Flexi Sampler.
Audio Export works quite nicely, mute the instruments You don't need and export.
Oh, absolutely, there’s that workaround and that’s fine…but MIDI export would still be useful as an option, no?
The built in Rompler sounds are perfectly alright but I can certainly imagine a situation where I would like to swap them out for other options (better piano or string sounds I have on desktop for example) and in that situation I’d want to be able to export as MIDI and not be limited to audio export.
I'd say in those cases it's faster to just re-record the midi-parts in the desktop DAW as the Otoo sequencer is very basic.
This considering that it becomes quite a hassle to do longer arrangements in Otoo (ie. past maybe 16 patterns or so).
And as Otoo doesn't use tracks in a traditional sense one color can be present on any of the tracks so the 'midi-export' would have to be done on a per color basis and not on a 'per track' basis etc.
What a great idea to baby step folks into Audio Units- some of us make music like others play video games- There's a lot of value in something you can just jump into and start creating from zero ideas without investing an hour to setup and find a vibe, especially when you can use your favorite AU sounds.
It's not my vibe currently, but a cool idea and looks like a well thought out UI.
Possibly, if you’re a keyboard player and can easily re-record the MIDI parts. If you’re not a competent keyboard player, you’ve got to recreate what you’re after on a piano roll and that’s a chore that MIDI export would help avoid.
Surely, behind the scenes, the colors are tracks, even if the interface presents things in the same way the Pixitrackers do? It’s just a UI choice isn’t it, it doesn’t actually make a fundamental difference? There are note events for each color over the duration of a pattern - these note events being drawn on different ‘tracks’ on the grid is actually irrelevant isn’t it in terms of potentially complicating MIDI export if it were implemented? (I know from reading your posts over the years that your technical knowledge vastly surpasses mine so I will gladly accept that you’re right if you say that’s not the case).
I still think MIDI export would be a useful addition but, if you were on the beta testing for Otoo, I’m getting the impression it was discussed and firmly decided against!
Nah, It's a 'Toy App' not a DAW...
v1.2 will be a toy with MIDI export.
Brilliant! Thanks @giku_beepstreet.
Excellent news! To me, this opens it up to being a true viable sketchbook for ideas, in a way that Ableton Note falls short, unless you have Ableton, which I don’t. Drambo, Cubasis & Logic, I do. Thank you @giku_beepstreet …now, about that Capture functionality to set the tempo and capture the first play…😉
Beepstreet Engineering OP-Z?
TLDR - so is this only an Au host, not an Au itself?
That is great to know. Congrats on another gem @giku_beepstreet
Correct
Here’s one of the simple little jams I did during beta testing using only the included rompler sounds.
I did also use a couple auv3 effects like Blackhole reverb.
Just confirming thanks.

I dig that track.
The Step Sequencer is lovely to use, the best I've seen implemented since the Endless sequencer on the Teenage Engineering OP-1 or maybe Drambo itself. Makes me wonder if an Endless Sequencer (perhaps capped at 256?) would be doable, just scrolling by swiping the main pattern or mini pattern from right to left? I know you can chain/loop multiple 16 step patterns together, but tend to write even basic ideas in more that 16 steps. Just a thought, have always wanted an OP-1 styled Endless sequencer on iOS.
We can share tracks provided we compress’em and attach as file. Just saying, wouldn’t mind playing with your track in performance mode @Edward_Alexander 😉
Good catch! 😉
I’d say Drambo is kind of supercharged OP-Z as Otoo is closer to versatile+ Pocket Operator.
Great jam man! This is lookin like a neat lil app. Gives me Dialekt vibes
True, I was just thinking though; of course I insta-purchased the public release, but then went right back to the latest beta version.
Beta version save files might have issues opening on AppStore versions, and vice versa.
That and unless all stock instruments are used, the recipient would have to have all the matching AUV3s installed.
Thanks, hey, I just tried Dialekt in Otoo, and it works perfectly (pssst so does Drambo 😉)
