Kdub How much for your iConnectMidi4+ (I'm in Europe, Italy)??

Totally agree with @Carnbot iCA4+ and a powered USB hub with a litter of Mio (if you need the Din support) is the way to go for me now. Anyhow my iCM4+ sold on eBay within minutes of listing.

I might try a complete reinstall.

Did you have any luck with the complete reinstall? I'm have the same issue. Every time I select a preset iconfig crashes, before I can even hit ok.

No, it's still crashing for me the same. I should raise a ticket but haven't got round to it yet, just haven't been using presets so far....

  • Just can speak about the ICM4+. But also there this never worked from the beginning. The only thing I really have to complain about it. Also not the first time, this bug is posted here. Wondering they are not able to fix that.

I don't know if this means an iConfig update is coming or not but they just published a detailed sysex manual yesterday. So for those you who are MIDI Designer and TB MIDI Stuff fans you might dig it.

Someone tell me of another interface that's got all this stuff?

  • Great, so does that mean someone could make a Lemur/midi designer mixer for it?

I wish that they would get a move on with the IOS app so that wouldn't be necessary....

  • yes, if the iOS iconfig Version is working....

i try it again...waiting over a year for the ICA4+ so whats x months more ;-)

hello, i've just bought the ICA4+ and trying to set it up. At first my setup will be really basic, just want to record the iPad into my PC DAW (reaper) without using the analog inputs. What i have to do? I installed windows drivers and selected the ica4+ device in reaper as audio interface. By adjusting the output level on the front panel, I can hear sound from channel 1-2-3-4 and then record. The problem is that I cannot record directly from iPad into Reaper using iOS apps (like Figure) who dont necessitate analog inputs. what is wrong? should I use iConfig? (but actually I have problems in iConfig installation). thank you

See if this helps: http://www.iconnectivity.com/downloads/whitepapers/WP-AudioPatchbayV0-2.pdf. (White paper on how the patchy in iConnect works.)

  • @ellof5446: you have to use iConfig, and on the Audio Patchbay page you have to connect Source USB2 output-channels 5 and 6 to Destination USB1 channels 5 and 6 (in stead of the default (see also fig. 1 in the above mentioned 'whitepaper') where Source USB2 output-channels 1 and 2 are connected to Destination USB1 channels 5 and 6 -- and that's wrong..).
NB. is your problem with iConfig that the firmware-update isn't working? iConnectivity is aware of this bug and is working on it (I hope!)

Thanks for posting that, that looks useful will have a read through...

@ellof5446 I find it's quite a good idea to rename your connections to make it less confusing, because it's not a user friendly interface at first.

Here's my setup to record 14 channels from my iPad to my desktop (you can enable more than the standard setup)

  • Thanks for your setup picture, @Carnbot; I realy like the iConnectAudio4+, but I'm (also) new to it and find the patchbay possibilities difficult to understand. I wish that iConnectivity had more 'real life' examples like yours on their website or in the iCA-manual...

  • is there any news around the ios version from iconfig?

  • thank you very much for your useful information, doc and pics. If I understand, by default all USB data is processed by channel 5 and 6. Which it means that if I have to record two or more synth from iPad to Desktop DAW, everything will be overdubbed and recorded on the same output tracks ? Even more, if I have to record a guitar processed by amplitube on analog 1 and a bass processed by ToneStack on analog 2, they will be both recorded on 5 and 6 ?

You can use MiMix in Audiobus to route different synths/apps etc to different channel outputs. You could also use Auria which has multiple output routing in the output matrix settings.

  • edited June 2015

Ok, thank you, MiMix seems fit well my needs. The only thing I can't understand is how I can control the input volume of any single app from iCA4+. For example, I routed DrumJam to output/input 5-6 on MiMix and PC DAW, but audio of recording is very low (much lower than what I heard from monitor), where I have to change it? directly inside the app? from interactive panel on ICA4+? (even if there is no 5-6 channel). This is an audio input or an audio output? There is a master knob elsewhere? I am a little bit confused ...

  • Audiobus dudes should just buy out MiMix at this point and incorporate it into AB -- it's absolutely indispensable IMO.

    good idea!

MiMix is great - and I demonstrated using it for multi outs from an AB chain in one of the iC vids. However, it does introduce its own extra latency - so watch that.

  • Having an iConnectivity I/O app (maybe with mixer control) to slot into an AudioBus path would probably be helpful to a lot of people. We really need an iConfig IOS update. Maybe we'll get some news on when they're planning to release soon

  • Hopefully very soon @KDub :-D ! It's in the works for sure!

  • I'm encountering several problems with ICA4+ for the moment ... I cannot have a decent volume for recording from iPad to Windows, with a significant loss of signal both in volume and in quality. Here is a pic:

    http://s8.postimg.org/x0l6yfo11/Screenshot_2015_06_24_00_43_44_2.png

There is a gap between audio coming from the interface standalone (U1 in the picture) which is direct monitored and audio coming into my DAW on Windows (U2) which I record. Does anyone know why?

  • ah, iConfig is completely bugged on Windows ... When I try to open it I have almost always some kind of errors (like "An unexpected error occured while trying to open a MIDI port. Please restart the application"). Or just it freezes. Really frustrating.

  • Did you put in a ticket? They've been very quick to respond and helpful for mine.

    this would be killer

  • Any word on the iOS app? I could really, really use it now, it's been four months since its release and... yeah.

I mean the back of the box says there's an iPad app so not having one at this point kinda isn't cool.

Can I just check: Does this also work well as a traditional audio interface for recording, say, electric guitar and vocals at the same time into Logic Pro X? (Ie. not using the iPad at all.) Good in terms of quality and ease of setup for this?

Short answer, Yes. It's not just for iPad although it really is the Swiss Army Knife of iOS compatible interfaces. Both of those USB device jacks will take any combo of PC/Mac/iThing and it's a quality interface in its own right.

I'm very happy with the sound quality and I like the way iConfig is laid out on the Windows version of the app. I used Zoom R24 and R8 (also at 96/24) before this and they've been collecting dust since this was released.

Just wish they'd finish the promised update to the iOS version or at least let us know when it's coming.

  • Why aren't they saying anything, aren't they aware of this thread? I was going to buy one but if they don't care to comment then maybe it's best to put money towards something else?

Maybe they don't read the Audiobus forum?
