I'm checking out your demo monzo but all this talk is making me want to hear some examples of what it can do! Yeah it does have quite a resonant digital quality to it but i think microwarmer or Wow 2 would help warm things up, just a little saturation on the bus.

Gonna sound insane through Flux or Turnado...

  • Guys.. this app is absolutely meant for Igor's suite of mastering and effects apps. Soundscaper sounds wonderful through Master Record. #secretweapon

Yeah, I tried it with Turnado via AB but my iPad had a hissy fit. I'm able to record into Audioshare and load it into Dedalus for processing, but Turnado glitches when I try the same thing.

Time for a new iPad I guess, in the meantime I'm going to have a go at recording it into Logic on my Mac and fiddling with the EQ on that.

@monzo Interesting that as soon as an issue comes up it comes up all over the place:

  • Speak of the devil and Doug will appear, or some sinister incarnation of him. :)

@monzo sounds like a great idea.

  • I wonder if it's in any way similar to Sliver. Does anybody own both, SS and Sliver and can make a comparison? I bought Sliver after a hype and never really used it in any of my tracks.

  • Totally in within minutes.

Damn, of course. I'll probably grab that, will be ideal for post processing in AS.

  • My fourth test recording sounds like a shortwave numbers station, which is exactly what I aspire towards.

  • @johnnygoodyear - I had the volume spike while messing with the filters - no warning there.

Sliver works with one sample whereas SS can work with three. SS has a lot more features too, and is able to manipulate the sample in a lot of different ways.

Sliver's a good app though, and I like being able to scrub the sample directly, but SS is a lot more powerful.

  • @monzo Thanks, good to know. I dusted off Sliver last night and took it for a spin. I was able to get interesting sounds out of one of my own samples. From Doug's video I got a better picture of what SS is capable of and might end up getting it.

  • - sounds incredible, defiantly caving in, just brought seekbeats yesterday, might hold off for abit and wait for some other demos

  • @Jackshg nice demo. I just wish the ears of my heart were tuned more to grit.

  • First attempts with Soundscaper using melodic sample from Jeux d'orgues Mini through AUFX:Dub, Crystalline, ApeFilter and Stereo Designer. One thing I did here was to sweep the filter by hand in ApeFilter while I let the sample play. (Oh, I first recorded a simple melodic sample from Jeux d'orgues Mini into Audioshare then imported that into Soundscaper as one of the samples. Used Big Transformer and Jupiter Radiations for the other 2 samples).

  • Just for fun - here's the original organ sample I used:

  • @MusicInclusive Good stuff. Like the evolution. And not too gritty :) Think you need to start a side project as Big Transformer and (The) Jupiter Radiations.

  • That would mean backing singers @JohnnyGoodyear ;-)

You're the one with the bike.

  • @MusicInclusive really nice. (full of twinkly goodness)

  • Not me @JohnnyGoodyear - I only learned to ride a bicycle 10 years ago... Never had one when I were't lad! Never been on a motorbike! :-)

  • Is that Jimmy’s ring you’re wearing?

    have fun :)

Thanks @Carnbot, for the tips, I tried this, I believe this is what I was already doing, BTW in my haste I overwrote the empty scene, now I can only lower the volumes of the assigned samples, but does anyone know how to clear them? Anyway back to the problem I think it's a bug, what I was doing was playing a 16kHz mono sample from a speech synth, this only played about a third of the samples length probably a 16/44.1 ratio just a guess, I converted this in Audioshare, to both stereo and mono at 44.1 and it plays fine. Don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but if anyone uses a sample frequency other than 44.1, check to make sure it plays through. Still enjoying it all the same.

that has happened to me once, after i converted a sample to 8bit within the app. the original was fine but the 8bit version was shortened. i just looked and it's the same situation, mono 16.0 file cuts off maybe 1/3 of the way thru (but only when i try to convert it to 8bit, the original is fine).

  • @rhcball, thanks for checking, I thought at first I was doing something wrong, but after loading a sample of my own speech at 44.1kHz, I realised the original samples I used were mono 16kHz, so I converted them, 'hey presto' they played fine, the thing that was driving me crazy though was the effect of the shortened sample, is also an effect you can create via 'tweaking' the settings in the app, this is what I thought was happening!

  • Anyone else find scene saving a little strange? What happened to load, save, save as? I hit "new" expecting to get a new default scene and saved over one of the presets. I contacted the dev about it and he said he would take a look at it. Otherwise I think it's absolutely brilliant.

  • ^Yes, same happens to me, not a deal breaker - just kinda annoying. I haven't managed to open a blank preset yet, apart from that, phenomenal app. Sounds sooooo sweet, best ambient/drone app I've ever encountered.

Sounds great, can't beat that scanning the airwaves sound for childhood flashbacks. I've been putting radio noises into it & they've been battling out the freqs with the internal birds & whales.

Lovely ! Nice set up too !!! :)

  • scanning the airwaves sound for childhood flashbacks

This sounds like an painfully apt description of my last ten years or so.....
