How to do and implant IMPC pro kits to Diode? Just a thought
Are they available as wav files somehow? Or through AudioCopy or AudioShare? I don't have IMPC.
I want IMPC PRO kits to Diode108!
Anyone can tell me how to do with detail and right procedures? thank you in advance!
It's relatively easy to 'rip out' the samples from almost any app but it's tedious work to 'rebuild' the kits so I tend to just use the samples I like and build my own kits but it is really a 'grey' zone. And those who know how to do it can get the iMPC/iMPC Pro samples for free by downloading TableTop as the samples are 'baked in' no need to get the stand alone apps. It all depends on the consciousness and moral of the user, and it's hardly 'legal'...
After a day of imersing myself in the app - wow.
Pretty damn good for a "drum" machine.
Diode has bish-slapped a few on this app.
But.......(isn't there always one on this forum! LOL)
Little more "instrument" sounds adjustable parameters would be great.
I am looking to use this as a modern "ReBirth" type set up.
It is looking like the main thing is the speed and ability to swap up samples. It takes a little too long and you cant' quickly plug things in to hear them. (unless I am not aware of a method)
Anyway, my question is when will this company do a step-sequencer or synth app? Cuz me would buy.

My first love in DSP is synthesis. Diode was briefly going to be a drum synthesizer before it changed its mind. :-)
The intuitive flow is chic.
Diode is only the 2nd "drum" app I have liked on my Ipad to date.
The instrument sound ability rocks along with the sound specific Fx and parameters.
Bravo.
@RustiK, Thanks, love to hear what people enjoy the most. Lots more coming soon!
I'm not sure what trips it but I'm pretty sure the AB team doesn't actively monitor it and vanilla forum (by default anyway) doesn't notify an admin that something is being held for moderation. If it did, it would likely be a deluge of spam messages and normal user messages held in the queue would likely get lost in the firehose of spam anyway. Sadly, best to just rewrite it as a new message.
it was such a breeze creating a Diode kit via the Audioshare compatibility, then I load up Attack & it crashes if I try to load an imported wav. The only reason I keep bothering with Attack is cuz I like the quick/easy velocity changing, can velocity be adjusted in Diode? It was apparent to me & i am reluctant to look thru 20 forum pages.
1.3.0 has a quick way to change volume on hits, right on the PATTERN view. Coming soon. In 1.2, you can change volume and tone by steps in FX, but I understand that's a bit laborious when you want to do it quickly.
What I really really like in Diode 108 is the compressor effect. I'm into DnB ( producing mainly with my desktop DAW ), and "drum sound design" is often a long and annoying process...
When I load my drum samples in Diode and use the compressor effect it's almost always instant magic ( also Gate / Distortion ). I don't know why, it's sounds different ( better ) than inside the DAW ( and with all the VST plugins I use ).
So lately I'm using Diode as an "FX plugin" for my drum hits, record them in Audioshare and export 'em to my DAW projects.
Sounds crazy, but I love it.
Hey Tommygun,
I guarantee you the compressor in Diode-108 is unique. I won't claim it's better than anything else, but it's a one-of-a-kind. :-)
Glad you're liking it.
One of the cool things about Diode is the FX don't always do what you might expect if they worked exactly like typical FX. This leads to some really interesting things that wouldn't have happened otherwise.
Surprises everywhere! My favorite electronic instruments are like that. Instruments with personality. :-)
@Tommygun Gate in FX is completely mislabeled in Diode-108. It's a very straightforward (and rather flawed) drum machine DECAY, but we had a professional musician in beta misunderstand its intent and insist that we relabel it GATE. In code it is still called decay, and it needs more work.
The mighty Diode-108 is currently on sale:
$3.99(!) for those who've yet to experience the true splendor.
@Diode108 I'm late to the party but I really like the new kit. Thanks! I was wondering when you are going to offer more kits for sale.
We have a few features to wrap up then we'll probably concentrate on kits!
@Diode108 Here's a simple and hopefully very easy to implement feature-request that will increase ease of use.
In the Drum Machine (Mixer) view it would be very handy if the 'pads' at the bottom of the screen would 'flash'(similar to the big pads in Pads view) when a their sound is triggered by the pattern.
This would make mixing more intuitive as it would be easier to see which sounds are triggered and then adjust them. Currently the Drum Machine/Mixer view is almost 'dead' apart from the small volume meter in the Diode-108 logo at the top-right of the screen. The pads already 'flash' yellow when triggering them manually so making them flash blue when the pattern triggers the sounds can't be that hard
Thanks. Adding that to a ticket!
I second Samu's pads lighting up with the pattern. I've thought the same thing while mixing. ;-)
Don't know if it has already been mentioned : I think that the FX view could be modified in order to have multiple tracks displayed at once. The FX's icons don't need to be that big as we are used to them now ; they could be placed in a tab on a side of the screen (like the AB tab for exemple) to free a large place where almost 2 other tracks could be displayed with their "FX line".
Agreed. Unfortunately, user interface is one of the most laborious things to change. We definitely have some ideas along these lines, though.
I can understand that
Hi Diode 108 - any news on giving the app a midi master clock / run / stop facility? Still loving the app & great updates.
@Samu +1, I wrote about the same subject already, it's good to see someone else share the same view also some kind of peak meter in the mixer page for the individual strip would be nice
Work on MIDI out is happening now. We may ask for beta testers specifically for MIDI Out (sync and note). After that, we'll consider other items. Thanks for all the feedback, everyone.
Good idea on the peak meter, btw. Multiple people asking for the same feature always helps. :-)
