Now we're talking! I have a new hardware keyboard, the Roland JD-Xi, that has great drum sounds, but the built-in sequencer does not have swing (I know). I also have a Zoom StreetBoxx hardware drum module that has no midi out. I would be happy to put Diode-108 midi out through its paces playing my external gear. If I recall, you have some nice midi effects that I'm excited about.
@thus The JD-xi is pretty appealing. Often, drum machines output only "straight" MIDI sync and it's up to the target to be able to swing. Maybe we can put in a switch or something. I hadn't considered that. Never sure how anything will react to MIDI tempo changing, unfortunately.
Thanks for the education. That is really interesting that swing is often interpreted in the receiver rather than the sender. I was picturing the JD-Xi as a really dumb sound maker in that scenario, like the piano strings in a player piano.
If I'm not mistaken swing can also vary from one device to another as well, MPC's swing differs to Logic's swing and so on.
It's worth a try! I'll collect some tester emails soon for people who want to try the MIDI out.
@Diode108 also a MPC Style Note Repeat if possible.
How would that work? I'm not familiar with that.
@Diode108 Note-Repeat on the MPC(and iMPC and iMPC Pro) is pretty simple really, set the quantize-value (1/8, 1/8t , 1/16, 1/16t , 1/32 etc.) and the 'repeat' will simply trigger the pad at the desired interval when held down.
Naturally this would require that the sequencer works at higher resolution than '4/4 16 steps per bar'...
BeatHawk has the Repeat feature but on the other hand it lacks any form of Grid-Editor...
iMPC Pro has 'both' features but has other 'issues' I'd rather stay away from digging up again...
Ok I haven't studied all the requests made so far, hopefully somebody's already asked, can we get a Start-Stop button in the Audiobus control panel?
And
= Boss mode.
Also, +1 to pad highlighting or metering in the mixer. One of my first wishes for the app.
1.3.1 is in review. Two bugs addressed:
1) HOLD TO CLEAR in Advanced FX now works properly.
2) Some imported samples did not sound correct on playback. They were not being normalized to the same level as built-in samples, and hot samples could engage the compressor, causing anything from distortion to sound dropout.
More fixes coming in 1.4.
is that side chain you speak of?
HELP ! I've certainly made something wrong but I can't figure out what it is... I've got a song that disables audio output in Diode !... For exemple : If I delete Diode on my iPad then install it back, everything works flawlessly ; but if I load that particular song, I've got no more audio from Diode, even if I try to make a new song or load another one that is supposed to work
I don't know where to check if I've touched something particular in the app... I've checked everything in the FX tab (volumes, gates, etc.)
Any idea ?
When I occasionally use the pre-packaged drum kits, the volumes of each are really low.
Is there a way to turn all the knobs up at once in lieu of having to go to drum machine to adjust each volume know individually?
Are there plans to make all the knobs and adjustments a little more sensitive and responsive?
Sometimes I feel like some drum adjustments are all or nothing.
Appreciate it much. Thanks!!
That's very strange. We need to fix that! Can you email [email protected] and describe the problem. We'll probably want a copy of your song. Are you using a built-in kit or your own samples?
All we have is the overall volume knob, but obviously that's not what you want. All I can think of for now is for you to make your own versions of the kits and save them as custom kits (which is not a great solution either). We'll think about this.
Yes, at some point. The danger is making it backward compatible so we don't mess with saved songs.
Yes, it's a built-in kit... I've just sent you a mail with a link to the "disabling audio song"
Thanks for doing this. Very odd! We were able to repro the problem. Very hard to fix these things without a sample case, so you win user-of-the-day!
Thanks
Hope this will help, but I really don't know what I've done wrong.
Maybe when we fix it we can figure out how it happened. You shouldn't have been able to do anything that caused this, so I doubt you did anything "wrong". You just did something HIGHLY interesting.
1.3.1 has been release with two bug fixes. We are also submitting a 1.3.2 with a fix for Gratouilli's issue. This is related to importing patterns.
Fantastic ! Thanks
Downloading 1.31 now. Thank you
I would be happy to see a new Topic created for each release, with the version number in the title. This thread is marathon-length.
Ah, good idea. I'll try to remember to do that starting with the next one. Right now we are (obviously) working on stability. A couple more fixes are in the works, including a long-standing iOS7 issue.
That's great to hear, @Diode108. I continue to admire the way you approach your software and how you have become so integral to this community. Well done!
Agreed.
Thanks, thus and JohnnyGoodyear.
