Yes I seem to be back to the original 100 presets, despite having the Pro upgrade. I am sure it will get sorted out, but kinda dampens the initial enthusiasm somewhat! I also have a question for KV331 - if I were to buy Synthmaster VST now, having got the IOS Player, I assume that I will be able to download any presets from that and use my own saved patches, but just wanted to be sure, as the instructions related to entering the serial number on registration, which I obviously can't now do!
On further reflection, I guess if I was a dev., I would also consider or have in place a simple PR strategy for dealing with inevitable snafus (most of which begins and ends with open and often communication). That initial enthusiasm is a capital that's a shame to lose...
This is a good forum for devs to get direct user feedback. If we keep it constructive and clear that will only help get any issues sorted out.
The issue I had with Auria is the only thing I've seen so far. I bought Pro and that's OK - no issues with it disappearing. Issue with IAP's has been explained so I'm going to work with it as it stands and see what I can get out of it. Sounds really nice so far.
Based on this thread I went ahead and downloaded it to my old iPad mini. I used it via IAA to Beatmaker 2. Ran fine although I specifically chose presets that weren't pushing it as hard as some of the others which took a lot of CPU and made it unusable. I'm not one of the more synth saavy guys here but I like how the fx like bpm delays and arps will sync automatically to whatever the bpm is of the daw you're recording into (is that standard now for most ios synths?) but like crabman mentioned, wish I could record the xy pad movements. That's the drag between investing and committing to the ios recording world where you have like 70-80% of the functionality of what a desktop environment offers. Yes, there are workarounds, but the mental energy spent on developing those workaround workflows could be better spent on actually creating music. That's not something specific to only this app but many apps in general. Something as simple as fx automation and side chain compression which are commonplace in today's musical landscape are complicated to achieve in the ios world.
Also getting always on startup this "bla cannot connect to store bla". But it does not effect my pro upgrade. All there, just annoying. And than always the Multitasking Gestures message. Would be nice to get rid of this. It just pops up, no difference if this is switched on or off.
On my Air 1 lowering the Polyphony to 8 does the trick for most patches!
Some of these patches sound so huge!!!!!
Its like having Crystal XT as a rompler.
So cool to have both though.
I can't purchase pro on my air 1/iOS 7 either. CRASH!
Do you remember what you did before the presets reset back to 100 ?
You should be able to restore your purchase I assume.
Of course we wanna fix this asap. But all our devices are iOS 8+, and dear Apple doesn't let us downgrade. and on their lovely lovely simulator for 7.1 in an purchase does not return an products so we can not test. How wonderful
+1 Thank you!
Why only a 3 octave keyboard? I see no reason for this limitation.
By the way, for those of you who would like to report issues to us and track them, here's our bug database on google docs:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1q8oY_Fe9X-hdhdcCe26PBiCwE7NyBXKuJE_gKZ9LthA/edit#gid=0
You can report bugs/improvements/feature requests as AudioBus Forum User there. The current app version is 1.0.6. This is the BEST way for us to keep track of issues. Thanks!
Good question, let's fix that
You're a good listener, did anyone ever tell you that?
It's our job, we have to be
All these friendly developers lately make me feel uneasy.
I know you can't test on your own, but I'm willing to be patient and try revisions since I don't want to update to ios8.
So far so good man. I'm ready to use this awesome synth live. I don't really need a lot of polyphony, but the little screen is killing me. I might have to put it off until somehow they make it bigger. My finder might touch the wrong preset and playing live that is a no-no specially when doing a lead or something. Anyways, it is so awesome! There are so many sounds available, and I am really surprised how much you can tweak.
Guy we definitely want to make this a "go-to" synth for live performance. But for that we need live specific features such as "set-list management". All input is welcome
Thanks! If you check out Z3TA. That is the synth I am using right now live. I really like how when you select the user presets or any preset list, it opens up a whole new screen. I like the amount of spacing between each preset as it allows me to have at the very least 9 presets on the screen at anyone time, with enough spacing that I wont accidentally hit another one. It has actually happened where I did hit the wrong one, but that was more because I was nervous. But other than that, it would really help to have that type of spacing. You see, when I play live, I already have the presets tweaked how I love them. So for me, I don't really need to move the pads, or stuff. But if all that stuff like the pads had a Midi learn feature, that would be so awesome too. Cause one can program that to the midi controller and actually morph the patch in realtime.
Also, I mostly use the modulation wheel playing live with Z3TA. I like that cause when say i;m playing a Leslie organ, I can go from straight to full Leslie by using the mod wheel. It can be programmed to other stuff to as it has midi learn.
Hopefully these things can be done in a future update. For now, I hope the issues most prominent need to be addressed. Thanks for all your hard work guys! I think this can really be my go to synth for playing live. The sounds are amazing and they are not these thin sounding things, they sound thick and lush, well programmed. I with the iPad had quadcore and 6 megs of ram. Imagine what you can do with that?
I would also like to see the knobs pop out at in a bigger window for editing purposes, they are a bit small for precise editing. KV331audio take a look at how it is done on TT App.
Does the desktop edu version also give you free factory preset pro upgrade?
I've paid for the pro, but when it downloads to 99.9% it doesn't install. Keeps doing it. Maybe overload from other downloading like when Apple releases IOS update?
Also cannot buy expansion packs.
Still have the iTunes error but I've got to say I really like this synth. I don't know why but i could never squeeze good sounds like that out of gadget.
i didn't do anything unusual in losing the extra presets. Restore presets has no effect, i still only have the original 100.
The only rational thing to do, I think, is to withdraw the support for ios7. Too bad for me as I will NOT leave my well functioning ipad at 7.1.2. But I won't whine for too long, as my Synthmaster vst is working just fine
Imho Apple killed the hope for future music making with ipad with ios8. So developer, beware that when you finally have got your SM player working, you probably have to do it all over again because Apple introduces ios9 in order to sell new iphones and ipads with fancy emojiis and new health apps, and so on every year ad infinitum. Stay focused instead on your excellent vst.
This is where you'd want program change compatibility. Have you checked if it accepts PC messages for changing patches?
Happy Holiday weekend (U.S.) everyone.
Thanks @KV331Audio for your perseverance, and good communications with your (mostly) crazy customers. The app produces some truly fine sounds and performance has been decent. As soon as the IAP stuff gets cleared up...blah blah blah...oh wait...I just got distracted by the KORG iM1/Gadegt announcement...how much app excitement can we take???
Please iPhone version! Please not another iPad only thing!!!
