TIP: toggle voices by touching a colored wave button and releasing out side the button. Long press to solo/unsolo track. The white button selected means anything you do is applied to all waves. There are no limits on snapshots but they can start to fill up your presets list of you go too nuts. Maybe I should have a special folder for snapshots and when you rename them they move out automatically.

At the moment it feels more like a puzzle/mystery game, than a music app. Trying to get to the next level! Hehe.

But I'm making headway. I'll keep you posted... :-)

I feel once it has been understood, there is a lots of knowledge to be acquired.

  • Great idea.
    Snapshot folder

  • It's a geek's paradise....hence the attraction ;-)

  • @funjunkie27 I sense you are happy :)

  • Aren't all musicians geeks after all?
I wish there were little tutorials for the basics for this app. I dove in without reading the manual. But its so much fun to explore it

A good starting point is to take a kick,a snare and a hi- hat(3 waves) and try to build a groove with these three elements.then, add a tom,a ride etc....it will allow you to have an understanding of how the app works.hope it helps.

Yeah, this is more or less what I'm doing. Switching grid mode etc. it's beginning to make me smile. :)

    Ditto! ^

    :-) it's growing...

  • Cool!
Will do that. Need to learn symbols

    I mean it's growing on me. :)

(^) arrow. Or do you mean the app symbols?

Just put together my first straight beat. Hehe. (On level 2 now). It's so much more satisfying doing it yourself. Now I can move on and use the tips and get to the manual.

    Looks like a keeper! :-)

  • Makes my day @JGY. I was gettin' lonely.

  • I meant app symbols

    :-) thought so.

    App is deeeeeeeep!

  • With the sounds/grooves you come up with Flo, I think you oughta reconsider your position. It's a good thing though :-)

  • So do you use different drummer alone to build a whole song or just short drum phrases?

  • Both...and melodic phrases.

  • Whole songs are still tough though.

  • Here's a partial..

I sense another little club in its embryonic stages :)

  • DD's UI is much better layed out in portraitmode! There's more room for the menu-panes and all the arrows and other (unusual) icons seem to make more sense.

KING777 - I just uploaded a preset called "Basic" in the DD community. Hopefully that fits what you're looking for and gives you some ideas on how I constructed it.

Thanks, I'll have a look at that.

I'm getting the hang of the basics, though it does throw a curve-ball occasionally. I just had a bit of a jam with it and recorded the results into Audioshare and uploaded it below - no editing or overdubs, all internal sounds, just played live into a few effects. The sudden gliassando of notes at the beginning is caused by moving the note on the screen while it's playing.

I should be working really, but this was a lot of fun and I can see the potential. Next learning curve will be creating songs and adding external MIDI...

Was doing the same thing last night (landscape to portrait back n forth) after watching TSTR's vid. Specially the ABA and the Mixer, make more sense in portrait, and I guess once your used to it etc..

Couple of interesting tracks there guys, @monzo, that title is very befitting lol.

Going to get into it again, in a short while, (for a long while) this time with a fresher head!

    Enjoy! :-)

  • Very cool @monzo. Were you using the jam panel? Just an fyi...another interesting effect is changing the size and position of the range slider (left side of the visualization region. You can use it to play the track like an instrument.

  • Several useful tutorials here: https://www.youtube.com/user/kizidek Excellent initial effort @monzo you're well on your way!

Thanks, no (I've only just discovered that one), I was just switching channels on and off, and occasionally playing with the waves and external effects.

    Ah right, useful tip, thanks!

I'm finding the track/channel on/off selectors a bit unfriendly - you have to slide them up or down and it doesn't always work (with my fat fingers), and a couple of times I've moved the live wave or notes instead. Just a simple button would be better.

  • Cool!

Just subscribed. I'm a bit slow but will catch on soon. :-)

  • Also...indeed the program was first developed in portrait mode and the landscape mode was added later and has always been less "native" than portrait...I mostly use it in portrait but I think most users use landscape. Landscape needs more work for sure.

As for the wave selectors if they were straight buttons then you would always be toggling waves and sometimes you want to just select it when it's off so you can set stuff before turning it on or you just want to switch focus to another wave without toggling it. You can always use the switch on the right. But I am thinking of activating the little colored squares up top of the scroll area and make those toggles for additional convenience. Three ways to toggle voices and 4 with the mixer mute buttons. ADD: I could also make it when you select a wave it just goes to the wave but if you tap it again while on the same wave, it toggles it...might be better...will think on it.

  • I got this last night, I don't know what to do with it. Someone want to come over and learn me it? Anyway, this will take some digging for me.

  • Where are you @High5denied? ;-)

I usually use DD in portrait orientation. Although I use landscape if I'm working with other apps that use landscape.

  • Yeah a landscape UI revisit would be so welcomed. Of course now I'm learning DD as is but progress is always a good thing.
Thanks Mr Developer for you desire to cater to the user base. It sets a great example for others to follow.
