    @Peanutcram

Why? Have you follow Harro's instruction?

Basic initial default setting should not be touched at first on an empty track.

You just record a Nave sound through Audioshare IAA, You need to know your prefer key note ( try using C4, because Attack defaut of Oscillator 1 is C4) , then record that sound and adust things within Audioshare. Then copy it to Attack Sample button by loading it up to Oscillator 1. Then just adjust the Envelope 2 Decay. Use Attack keyboard to find the key you intended to. Oscillator 1's pitch adjustment is another matter. I have almost exact Nave sound to Attack, even press different keys, the tone changes accordingly. Attack adjusts the pitch automatically with keyboard. Let us know why there is problem.

  • @Kaikoo Thanks for clarification. All good! I read like you could kind of 'chain' both apps. So it is playing imported samples.

  • Good works.

    How is the sound?

  • I am loving this more and more every day. It is awesome (for me).

  • @Kaikoo Attack got character sound to me. Like Nave. Had good times with Filtraton and iVCS samples as well.

Haro Good stuff. Let us know if you make any progress with that pesky saw...

    Vocoder videotutorial badly needed.

Main problem with the vocoder is that it's so hard to control the timing of the phrases, which seems odd in a rhythm app.

  • The ins and outs of the vocoder become more clear when you look at the 'example' song "All I am is Digital": the Vocoder-effect is on slot 1 on the Effects-page (also on slot 4, but that slot is disabled) and on the Sound-page you see (after selecting each track) that only tracks 14 ('Whisper'), 20 ('Stringed voice'), 21 ('Choir') and 24 ('Voice') have the EFX 1-button (for the Vocoder-effect-slot 1) enabled. Notice the wave-forms that are used for these 4 tracks, also the ADSR for Envelope 2 and the rhythm on the sequencer-line (all 4 tracks use the same text for the vocoder of course, but only track 24 uses 1/8 notes!). By soloing each track, you can hear the effect of Oscilator 2 and the Filter that are sometimes used for coloring the vocoder in the mix).
BTW: on the Sound-page there should be an indication per track for M(ute) and S(olo) (as on the Mixer-page)!

In the latest Producers Hangout episode on YouTube, Stefan Stenzel from Waldorf talked about the timing of the vowels in the Attack Phrase Vocoder, he sounded most proud about that part of the app.

  • The Producers Hangout episode 31 Waldorf Music's Stefan Stenzel

  • Thanks for posting that, had a quick look, interesting...Especially that they are considering having Attack host plugins in iOS 9 :)

  • So I caved in and bought this beast, sounds fantastic.. But crashes soo much. I just spent about 30 min with it and it crashed 4 times. Doing a different thing everytime. I also got that 'no sounds' bug thing too. Off to the refunds tab on iTunes. I would normally ride it out but $18.99 is a bit much for something that's buggy like this

Stefan Stenzel is having this little competition on Twitter where you can win a copy of Waldorf Attack Drums. Follow his Twitter and give your best answer (I have no idea what would be a good answer though:)

"@5tenzel: Best answer wins Waldorf #AttackDrums App: #Pluto on #Streichfett?"

  • @ChrisG I already bought it but had a look at his twitter feed and I think this needs more favourites:

"We could do Streichfett for iOS"

Yea I think he means a controller/editor for Streichfett, not the whole thing (like they did w/ Rocket). But an iPad editor would be welcome as well:)

  • @ChrisG I guess I was too optimistic thinking he meant Streichfett app. I thought since it's digital anyway and they made the Nave inspired wavetable module for Eurorack they could go also backwards and make an app version of their digital hardware.

  • Anyone have issues with patterns disappearing from songs? I opened app after a couple of weeks and know patterns that were saved in songs are gone. Only 1 out of many remain in one song and none in another.

I haven't yet luckily but that's troubling if you are, what iOS are you on?

I tend to save a new copy of an arrangement a lot rather than overwriting as they take up virtually zero space but haven't come across this yet..

    @Carnbot
Thanks. I imagine I must have overwritten them at some point when learning the program.

  • How's the midi implementation of this app? Is this something I could sequence externally, with my MonoMachine?
I don't see any CC#s mentioned in the manual.
And (bonus), any chance it responds to midi program change?

  • I admit to being initially disappointed by attack, most likely due to the preceding months of heated anticipation leading to outrageous levels of inflated expectation. Didn't really get anything that interesting out of it on the first few runs. Looking under the hood, it's clearly a beast of a machine & I obviously need to spend more time on its finer points. The last few noodles have been more inspiring, the sound manipulation possibilities are ace once you get stuck in. Yes it does have its failings but I can't think of another equal to its depth.

  • So...it's been over a month. Any whispers about an update? I'm barely using this app without midi.

  • yah without decent midi support or acting as an inter app audio instrument i got zero use out of it beyond just apreciating the nice sounds it can make. I came close to getting a refund but those great sounds kept me on the hook.... So now i wait

  • edited August 2015

For me, it crashes everytime I try to overwrite a song, kit or sound (Air 1, iOS7.1.2). "Save As" works.

  • So,business as usual with Waldorf?A lot of promisses but waiting forever to iron out even critical bugs?Well,i'm glad that i did not buy it on first impulse.

  • I cant wait until the iaa transport controls that they claim in the manual will show up when connected to cubasis actualy do show up. i have tried everything to make it happen but nothing.

It will be great to record this thing properly. There is so much that i want to explore with it. Playing around the potential sounds are fantastic. I am not a synth master by any stretch but in terms of happy accidents it feels like every slider and knob just does something cool. But yah once iaa transport control actualy do show up then happy day. 8)

    from the manual....

"If Inter-App Audio is active, the Attack shows a transport display which allows you to control basic transport func- tions of the connected App."

    Anyone manage to get this?

  • Waldorf please! I'm really looking forward to an update...
