  • Wow!++ Mini-Sampler is more, than I hoped for! Really a great update!

  • Yeah, mini sampler is great. Not fully featured but def better than no mini sampler! Thanks for great update :)

  • Sounds like a great update! Thanks Lars

  • Bravo! Cubasis just got really interesting. I may be speaking prematurely, but recording into the new Mini Sampler via InterApp Audio feels like a game changer for this app.

  • Great addition, and if Steinberg want to keep some compatibility with desktop Cubase, they should probably release a VSTi (AU) version of the sampler too (unless it uses groove agents engine).

  • Does the sampler/wave editor do time stretching etc
Is score editing planned for any future updates?

Getting itchy fingers don't know if I should buy this, MTS or keep waiting for Auria Pro!?

Far too many choices nowadays :-)

  • @LFS Are there any plans add support for iOS-Filepicker for Import and Export of files into/from Cubasis?

Many of use here are quite fond of using AudioShare for storing our 'stuff' and Implementing iOS-Filepicker would be a very good start to allow for more sources and destinations for Import and Export to and from Cubasis. Both features are quite simple to implement and would benefit most users a lot. (Native AudioShare support would be really sweet).

Maybe this is something that can be implemented in 1.9.6 or 2.0?

Now it's time to give the brand new 'Mini Sampler' a workout :D

It's pretty basic. You import or record a sample and it is assigned to a key (C1, D1, etc.). From there you can do basic editing like trim and fade. You're also given the option to loop, which brings up a start and end point for the loop. And then you can also assign the sample across multiple keys, which will speed up or slow down the sample and change it's pitch.

So yes, pretty basic, but as I noted above you can record in using Inter App Audio and create an instrument that way. That alone turns the new Mini Sampler into a flexible and easy to use sampler, with a ton of options available (well, depending on how many Inter App Audio apps you have).

  • Dudes, it's enough :)

  • Cheers Alex,

I think many of the promised releases/updates should come before August. I can imagine a 'let's wrap this up before the holiday so we don't have to go back to it in September' scenario.

  • More like you import a sample ....

Take bits of that sample (trim fade and loop as above) and assign them to different keys spread the individual bits across a range of keys then save as an instrument.

Apparently, when you export your project to Cubase, your MiniSampler tracks remain what they are - just MIDI tracks. So, you have 2 choices: assign the instruments you already have, or use Groove Agent to create a new instrument, based on the samples you used for creating your custom instruments in Cubasis

  • Got it. So far so good. Apart from effectrix getting some kind of ring mod sound even when no effect is engaged.

  • Ok, effectrix fixed itself but took some fiddling with connecting.

I almost pulled a trigger on effects but doesn't seem like a smart move with millions of IAA effects I already have. I don't care much about automation.

  • This new mini-sampler sounds like a quick and dirty response to the ohhhhhhhhhh shit of Auria Pro's sampler to me!

  • A mini sampler in the Hand is worth a dozen pro samplers in the bush .....

    Same thought. But

    @BiancaNeve said:

is an exceedingly valid point. :)

Congrats to the Steinberg team for actualizing this.

Does anyone know if 2.0 will be a free upgrade?

  • Version 2, anyrhing significant in the pipeline planned for that?
I keep hoping for something like a fully fledged Cubase! I can dream :-)

  • Maybe version 2.0 is going to hit at around the same time as Auria Pro! Then we'll have a real smackdown on our hands, with all iOS musicians benefitting. :) Competition is a great thing.

  • I don't think we'll see version 2 soon but I won't be surprised if it gets released before Auria Pro, BM3 and Modstep :)

  • Let the battle commence!............ "FIX BAYONETS!"........

  • Cool tip:
if you load the same drum loop onto the sampler's keys and trim the kick, the snare, etc, and save the sampler patch, the original sample in the media bay remains untouched. NICE TOUCH ! No more sample mess ;)

  • This looks like a great addition and keeps Cubasis competitive - really looking forward to having a play with the new sounds and features!

    Dear all,

Please note that the 1.9.5 pre-release of the Cubasis Project Importer is now available for download also.

The updated pre-release of the Cubasis project importer grants file format compatibility with the latest Cubasis update and will load corresponding Halion Sonic SE and Groove Agent SE instruments when importing Cubasis 1.9.5 projects that contain MiniSampler factory instruments.

    Best,
    Lars

  • That is a pretty nice price given the new features added! Better still this as a FREE update is better still!

  • Hmm...

@LFS I'm quite bothered by the fact that there seems to be no way to play or preview the 'trim-selection' in Micro Sampler by playing the 'root-note' as it re-selects the whole sample thus loosing the selection. If the sample is mapped to cover more notes playing the 'other' notes does not reset the selection, but playing the 'root-note' does. This surely must be a 'bug' of some kind...

  • Tempted, I must say...
